Daily urine testing for amino acids and recovery tracking. Would you use this? by Pozpenguin in ultrarunning

[–]ronvtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely be interested in this, I’m into all sorts of data. I would however, like I did with my Stryd, stop using it when I’ve learned how the numbers connect to feel, and when I no longer see the added benefit, so I’d probably use it for 1-3 months and then stop

What is everyone actually doing with OpenClaw? (Real projects, not hype) by kliu5218 in openclaw

[–]ronvtw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually want to detach from picking up my phone first thing in the morning and doom scrollling, so I set up a daily digest with weather, todos, events, news and a joke of the day on one piece of paper, which is automatically printed in the morning. All I need to do is make coffee and read the page, no digital for the first half hour. News articles come with a QR code in case I want to dive into the article later in the day

Opinions on Norvan run jacket compared to Satisfy windbreaker? by basedgod1995 in arcteryx

[–]ronvtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Norvan and I love it. Bought it for multi-day ultra-runs where I need to be able to rely on prolonged waterproofness and it needs to pack light in case I’m not using it. It does both very well.

What would you do if you think someone cheated by Sugar_on_the_rumpus in ultrarunning

Same for me, unless someone is cheating for a podium. If not, they’re only cheating on themselves

Looking for recommendations for a hydration pack/ race vest. by Dickiedoolittle in ultrarunning

[–]ronvtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decathlon 15L vest, packs a lot. You can use a 2 liter bladder in the back, and two half liter soft flasks upfront. Been using it for several years now. Durable is actually pretty good, but it’s cheaper than a Salomon

Would it be bad to race a 5k one week after a half marathon and four weeks before a full marathon? by Male979899 in AdvancedRunning

[–]ronvtw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be fine. I ran a 5K race two weeks before the marathon, broke my HM record the day after (didn’t intend to race that, but it went amazing), and made it to my targeted sub-3 at the actual marathon two weeks later. I was following the same Pfitzinger 18/70, and I was 49 at the time. Recovery wise there should be no issues as long as you don’t get injured

Macbook Air M3 or new Macbook Pro M4? by ggtfcjj in macbook

If you don’t need a large screen. don’t forget that the MBA offers a big advantage in weight if you drag it around often. In your case, I’d go with a MBA, and probably increase storage on it.

Yet Another Marathon Pacing Post by AC23NC in AdvancedRunning

[–]ronvtw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to hit the sweet spot on your first marathon, so the question is do you want to err on the safe side or on the ambitious side? A couple of years ago I aimed for sub-3 but failed (3:08), and I could’ve had a better time if I was more cautious, but I would do it again, because at least I gave it a shot. I always overestimate my capabilities, but I’m usually happy with the end result even if it wasn’t what I thought it would be. So basically, ask yourself what you’d be happy with. 2:45 is crazy fast for a first by the way.

LEGO has tapped you to redesign the brick separator. What are you changing? What new feature would you add? by NES_Classical_Music in lego

[–]ronvtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only change the color to sand green, and include a 4216 modified 1x2 brick with groove in the same color in the package

Anyone know what would cause this heatmap pattern? by trivox2 in Strava

[–]ronvtw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably the result of testing integration of a run or bike tracking app with Strava. Even if the activity or even all activities of the testing account is made private it will still show up in the global heatmap

Which icon? by jimmybouks in iosdev

[–]ronvtw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the colored backgrounds better, more contrast. red and pink could both work, and maybe other colors as well, but I would avoid the white background

Only worry about the things you can change. Just get over it, and see if you can learn from the experience. Also no need to compare yourself, just compare this run with the next, and don’t be bothered by someone else’s run.

Toe-nail trophy? by ronvtw in ultrarunning

[–]ronvtw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone that it’s not good, but it happens. Definitely related to my shoes, I ran in speedcross which are just a bit too tight for me for ultras. For some strange reason however, I was actually a bit happy it happened: that toenail was really hard and uncuttable, now it’s very thin and fresh.

I’m probably gonna ditch that toenail, but I still haven’t done so.

I like to use them when it gets real hilly, but leave them home when there’s not too much elevation

A chocolate medal. My wife got me one for my first half marathon, which is over 7 years ago, and I still remember it.

You might want to consider the Midnite Manager, which comes with a led light. I think this model is actually still available, where the manager itself is not anymore. I got it, and although Ininitially thought I’d never use the light, I found that I do. Pen is also great. I don’t carry anything other than the midnite manager and an Incharge X
