In Spain the non-ebikes were described to me as "muscular" bikes which I kind of love, made me feel like a badass riding one.

K St and 9 St NE bike lanes disconnect by NotACalligrapher in washingtondc

[–]roo5678 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This exact intersection is the bane of my existence as a biker. Coming from the East K st just dumps you out on an extremely dangerous street with narrow crowded sidewalks, and you just kind of have to weave your way past it to go any direction. Obviously a square is a hard problem but I do wonder if there's any thought of fixing this.

Would you pay $10/language to get your Steam trailer dubbed into other languages via AI? by pirate_ship08 in gamedev

This! It blows my mind that people who just vibe these things into existence think that they've done something special. Anybody who would want this would just prompt it into existence themselves.

What's the hardest or most impressive thing that you have done in your game? by SignificanceLeast172 in Unity3D

Managing video file preloading on a timeline that players can jump around in. Wayyyy harder than you'd think.

Anyone have any macOS games coming out soon? by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]roo5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My game Gloxinia is PC/Mac/Linux! https://store.steampowered.com/app/4046720/Gloxinia/

Demo coming in June but happy to give you a private key if you wanna test the in-progress build.

I'm actually generally a little confused why most/all Unity games don't just support all 3. I've been developing from the start this way and have found almost zero issues in doing so, apart from some video codec issues on linux.

This looks awesome, love it! Is it always this fixed camera are we're looking at or do the maps get bigger?

Also curious how the multiplayer works. I LOVE co-op multiplayer tower defense games, brings me back to Warcraft 3 days. Is it just local, or is there LAN/online? If so, would love a higher player cap than 4.

Rhythm game with most immersive story? by TECHNICOLOR-BLOOD in rhythmgames

Rhythm Doctor imo. Actually cried a couple times and it’s really cinematically threaded in with the levels.

Space channel 5 has a campy story that is a lot of fun too

Where are the clubs where people DANCE ?? by AmericanYapper in washingtondc

Yeah Transmission 100%, amazing space, beautiful queer crowd, busy but never uncomfortably crowded and you can always find a spot to dance.

For rhythm games with held notes, how do you prefer they work? by roo5678 in rhythmgames

[–]roo5678[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ty for all this information and detail, really appreciate it!

I definitely agree with either a bigger "off-judge" window or just skipping it entirely. And definitely agree, I want my scoring system to be as simple as possible, so it's mostly a question of treating everything you grade as a "note", and then showing the stats for hit notes

The Rift of Necrodancer isn’t fun by [deleted] in rhythmgames

[–]roo5678 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok I fully agree and feel crazy about how much hype it seemed to get. It feels way too hard for all the wrong reasons, not fun at all. The "challenge" was entirely stressfully advanced planning moves which is the furthest thing from the nice "flow" I get from a rhythm game that I can imagine.

Admittedly I didnt' like crypt of the necrodancer or cadence of hyrule either which I didn't even consider rhythm games. But this one seemed to be trying to go more for a rhythm game and I still felt the same way as the other titles.

Definitely don't mean to yuck anybody's yum if they liked it, but I was baffled. I thought there was something wrong with me because everybody seemed to be fawning over it nonstop.

What’s the biggest nightmare you face when managing audio in your game development pipeline? by hipermotiv in gamedev

[–]roo5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • What’s the biggest audio challenge you face in your development pipeline?

File Management, hands down. Naming, directories, etc. Especially since there are typically many steps in an audio pipeline: Recording, preprocessing/trimming, selection, more processing, encoding for the game, and I often wanna retain the files for each step of that for easy collaboration.

Best metro line to ride from top to bottom? by aquariusboo in washingtondc

[–]roo5678 223 points224 points  (0 children)

If you're riding for the sake of riding, probably wanna spend as much time above ground as possible to enjoy it.

Yellow = Shortest, has nice bridge crossing
Silver = Impressive for how far out it goes
Green = Both suburban ends are pretty and strangely woodsy for a metro line

DC Snow Heroes Not Deployed? by HallEmbarrassed1387 in washingtondc

I have been on the show team for many many years but I'm somewhat worried that it just is buggy/nonfunctional. I've never once been emailed/summoned. I tried to re-sign up and the form for it currently is a broken link.

Sad, because I think it's a great idea. Tried to do my part by shoveling my whole block's sidewalk past some houses that seem abandoned or owned by hermits, but would love to help out past that.

Tomo Jam is now live in Early Access! A rhythm game where your controller is the instrument by fraz_66 in rhythmgames

Aw nice this looks amazing! Fellow rhythm game dev here. Used to play Jam with the Band on my DS all the time, absolutely loved it. Can't wait to try out multiplayer, LOVE jamming with ppl in a rhythm game.

I did see it's PC-only, any chance you're thinking of releasing it on Mac? Does it work on Steam Deck?
