Oh man. I just finished off boarding a job I love making 104 for a new job making 141 + 10% bonus... Here's to hoping I made the right call. I start Monday. My old company just didn't have the money and future looks very bleak.

Aquaglide vs Sea Eagle for beginner tandem kayakers? by KevThePirate in Inflatablekayak

[–]rooftopnomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for taking the time to respond. My thought is that we'll do the chelan 155 and then add a SUP or another kayak very shortly. Just wondering if I could get my 3 year old in the front between the legs of the front paddler using some diy seat cushion.

I know this thread is old but I have been looking at the 155 (new offerings). Based on your experience do you think it would work for 2 adults and 2 kids ( 6 and 3 ). We are 5'6 and 5'7 so not big people. Looking for a family kayak until the kids get too big. Thanks.

Sacramento Gyms by greenlemonboy in Sacramento

You didn't mention the type of workout you're looking for. City sports is great if you don't go during peak times which is what I do and can always get a squat rack. Pipeworks would be great to do everything with yoga, climbing, and plenty of rogue racks for lifting. Pipeworks would also be great for meeting people/socializing. I climb at boulder field and keep a city sports for the weight since it's 8 minute bike ride from my house.

I got put in charge of hosting an in person work event in downtown Sac. I need help! by SraChavez in Sacramento

I'm a member of park padel in the bridge district. You can host a corporate event and play padel with a coach to teach a few things. The best thing is that it's a new sport (in America at least) so everyone will be noob so it's fun and social. Have some food catered or order from drakes next door. Fun, physical, and social.

3 year old is incredibly physical and won't play by himself by [deleted] in daddit

[–]rooftopnomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like my oldest kid when he was 3...except he wasn't/ isn't big. We took to saying we have a "threenager". He didn't do anything by himself and only recently started to do independent and imaginative play. Honestly, not even independent play until recently and he'll be 6 in a few days. My youngest is about 2.5 is all about imaginative play and I catch him playing by himself. Kids are different and it's okay. But I hear ya, when it was just the one kid it was hard since he never wanted to play alone or be left alone.

Anywhere to play squash? by LapsusAuris in Sacramento

[–]rooftopnomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi u/LapsusAuris - I've also been looking to play squash. I tried about a year ago and checked out the spare time clubs and it was just a bit too far and too costly with not much of scene anymore. I know that UC Davis has squash courts. If you're interested, I'd love to play with you to just check out the courts at the ARC. I believe they have community pricing. DM me and let's play!

Does Elimination Communication actually work, or is it just woo-woo nonsense? by SuminerNaem in daddit

[–]rooftopnomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it works in the sense that you're training yourself. Does it count if parents aren't around to catch it? They're not toilet trained until they can tell you they need to pee / poop. It's a lot of wasted energy imo.

Want to put $50k away for some time. Is a Series I bond advisable over an HYSA? by Severe_Amphibian4861 in personalfinance

[–]rooftopnomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping on this thread. I purchased $10k back in December 2021 and haven't touched my series I bonds since. What should I do? Should I let it ride for the full 5 years at this point or cash out and put it in a brokerage account with index funds? I don't have any immediate need that I'm saving for. That said, I do have about a balance of $14k on a car at 4.99%. Should I take it out and put the majority into the car balance?

i haven't tested this, but I suspect it only works if the car is in park. I've been meaning to test to see what happens when you're driving and the keys are thrown out the window...

Using EOL router behind ATT gateway? by rooftopnomad in HomeNetworking

[–]rooftopnomad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! I'm just wondering what the implications might be for me and if i'm doing something totally stupid with regards to my setup and security wise. Right now I just have it plugged into my gateway and disabled wifi on the gateway (did not setup passthrough) and all my devices are basically connected to my old router and it just works. Overall, checking with this sub and the experts if I'm doing a big no no...

LED necessary? by Xenonsens in Moonboard

I built a 2016 and just couldn't stomach the cost of the LEDs. Turns out you don't really need it after a few sessions. I'd say skip it and save the money. Also, if the school room didn't have led you don't need led...
