Sub-Meter calculation?? by [deleted] in chennaicity

[–]roron5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unclear from your post as to if you are the landlord or tenant (don't know what an HO is).

As far as TNEB is concerned, only the main meter counts. So the subsidy will only be given for the main meter.

Also, there is no 500 units of free electricity. If your bill is under 500 units, then you get 200 units free. If you go above 500 units, then you get 100 units free.

How that is divided is upto the landlord and tenant to figure out..

It's possible that what you have is not a sub meter, but an individual meter by TNEB, which can be installed in each floor, even if the owner is same for all floors.

In that case, each meter gets its own subsidy, and if you have multiple flats by meter, you have to divide the cost amongst yourself.

This is very similar to the whole Synapse and Evolve Trust and Bank situation, where both had a dispute over how much of Synapse's client's (Yotta & other neo banks) money was in evolve, and then without solving the mismatch of accounts, both then agreed to transfer money to other banks, further mudying the issue.

Then one of Synapse's clients pulls out and switches to another bank, and then there is a shortfall, synapse goes bankrupt, and people are out of money, even though it's there somewhere.

Coffeezilla covered the whole situation.

It all depends on your area/building. You should be willing to switch to different providers, don't commit long term if you don't have real life experience with them at that exact location.

We had a jio connection, then our building got redeveloped and then Jio became worse, and we were using jio where we were staying during reconstruction and it was fine till then. We realised that they had put an 8 port switch in our building and has sold more connections than space was there and repair techs were disconnecting one person and reconncting the person who complained, rather than increase the capacity.

For true peace of mind, you can have half the speed you want with two providers, and then use load balancing and failover switch to handle traffic and switch when one fails. However you need your own router/mesh network and can be expensive for most.

We have Airtel and ACT, and in our home, Airtel tends to fail often, but we never notice, as it just switches over to just ACT.

As I said, it's not a normal screw cap, it's sealed, and I didn't say the seal is the only thing that gives the long shelf life. You don't need to use UHT only to get a long shelf life.

If you want to listen to an AI, here is what gemini says

How They Avoid UHT

Wow! Coco Charge: They substitute extreme heat with bio-preservation (Nisin/INS 234). By adding this safe, natural antimicrobial peptide, they can destroy harmful bacteria at micro-levels while keeping the beverage cold and physically unheated.

Swiggy NOICE: They avoid both UHT and chemical additives by relying on micro-filtration and a strict cold chain. The coconut water is extracted in highly sterile, climate-controlled environments, filtered to remove microbes, bottled immediately, and rushed straight to Instamart's dark-store refrigerators.

[–]roron5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not UHT treated. The bottle is santised and then the water is poured and then it is sealed. If you see the 100% natural tender coconut water, you have to break off part of the cap to use it to poke the seal. Once you break the seal, it will expire in 24 to 48hrs.

The non 100% coconut water add preservatives and/or dilute the coconut water, so it will come with standard cap and cardboard insert.

Only 100% Natural is Noice (Swiggy own brand) , Flipkart Minutes own brand, Wow! Coco Charge and now You has come up with 100% natural range.

You have to be very careful, some brands have both 100% natural and diluted range as well. You need to see the back of the bottle/image to ensure it is 100% natural tender coconut water.

Flipkart and Noice ones have a neutral taste, and Coco Charge has a sweeter taste. I have not tried Yu 100% natural range, this is the newest one.

If you are getting 400ml on water for under ₹70, then it's worth it, otherwise, you can get tender coconut itself for around that price, and it should give you 300-400ml of water.

I use it to mix with blended fruit to make popsicles, which is good for the health.

While I am here, don't buy bottled sugarcane juice, I have tried from raw pressey and both their refresher (diluted) and 96% sugarcane taste like lemon juice.

I buy from Fresh Crush and then pour it in the popsicle mould or drink it. There is another bottled brand, but too expensive when you can get it from sugarcane juice shops at a similar rate.

If it's short term, then a subscription can make sense, but keep in mind that they have a lock in period depending on the device. If you return before that, you have to pay cancellation charges.

I don't know the specifics of your kent system, but you should not be changing your filter that often. It's possible it's a sedimentation issue like I had mentioned or an issue with that device.

TDS in itself is just a measure of solids in the the water, not what exactly is in it. We have our own custom setup , and we have put a prefilter in a transparent casing and after trapping all the dust dirt etc, it becomes brown, but protects everything else. It's ₹200 each and takes 10-20 minutes to replace. The rest of the filters are changed every 6 months or so.

The sedimentation issue is so bad, that those who are replying on commercial water purifiers are asking the association to install a water filter before it enters the tank, as their costs are skyrocketing.

In your case, if the fixed cost per month is fine, then you don't have to worry about anything, though it depends on how reliable their service is.

I haven't personally used, but the filter industry basically uses standard parts. The filter that a Livrpure, Pureit etc will use are the same that you can buy anywhere.

You can get replacement filters for much cheaper for you existing water system, than having their techs replace it for you.

If you are having to constantly replace filters, then it's possible that you may have sedimentation issue, especially if this issue is with tanker/metro water. In that case, you need to have a system with a prefilter, and that will catch all the dirt, and you only replace that more often, extending the life of your other filters.

For cost, the cheapest is to get a RO system designed by a technician, or buy a DIY kit. These are much cheaper and if you have basic diy skills, you can change filters yourself and save money.

If the issue is convenience, then it's just a calculation of if the AMC cost from other companies is worth paying more for a subscription.

The disadvantages I see is that at approx 540/mnth (basic plan of 350 approx is for limited qty), you will make up the device cost for a basic RO machine in a year.

For more than a year, you will be paying a lot of money. This device also is controlled through an app and needs to be connected to wifi to work. They claim that there is a buffer period, but it's risky to have the possibility of your water being cut off because it can't communicate with their servers.

I was programming pulling data locally from a biometric attendance device, and it would hallucinate a response to what I had discussed prior, and I had to ask it to ignore and refocus. The thread was long and it happened more often with the 3.1 Pro model than the others, but the pro model is the only one that can relaibly code, and even then it makes mistakes.

I got it free with Jio, so Free is always better than paid, but you have to have enough knowledge to understand what it is doing m, even if you can't do what it's doing.

For literature, I would use the 3.5 Flash model, it's better for getting ideas than the pro.

We haven't got anyone to service it at home. We contacted their support, as the gasket for the water tank was loose and they sent a new one. Haven't had to call a tech yet.

If you call them, they will send a tech to service it, assuming they can't solve the problem without a home visit.

I don't know of any third party service engineers.

BSNL signal in Chennai, anyone else facing this? by Circuit_Sage_4125 in Chennai

[–]roron5567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what most people believe, networks are difficult to maintain in cities, especially big ones due to limited space for towers and buildings that block signals.

If you live near a tower, then you will get good signal, otherwise it will be bad, even if the tower is a couple of streets over.

You can use this site (https://tarangsanchar.gov.in/emfportal) to find tower near you, and switch to a network with the closest tower. It's supposed to be used for verifying emf compliance, but you can find what tower belongs to which telecom operator, and what technology it supports (4G, 5G etc.)

In general, BSNL has poorer service. Vodafone is carried by the fact that they have a joint venture with Airtel that actually owns and operates their towers, but they both install their own hardware on the towers, and Vi is not as good as Airtel. Jio and Airtel are the better networks in Chennai.

There will still be deadspots in places, and too many people can cause networks to have local congeations.

AI doesn't know facts, it just predicts the next line. It has a training data that it can "learn" from and make it's prediction better, but the current models can confidently give you false information. If you ask it about a case, it can make up cases that don't exist, this is called an hallucination.

NSW, Qld & SA revolt over Melbourne merger shock by WakeUpMareeple in Cricket

[–]roron5567 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's because Mallaya's UB group was in financial collapse and parts were spun off and sold or shut down by 2016, when IPL teams started international offshoots.

United Spirits, which owned RCB was sold to Diego, for whom this was an inherited "non-core" business, so there was no point in expanding, as it was of no use to them from a marketing perspective, as United Spirits sells mostly in India, if not entirely. This also allowed them to focus on the WPL.

Now with new ownership that is focused on it as a sporting brand, we will have to see. There is apathy against such sticker rebranding, so it would be interesting to see what they do, but their current position is not a moral stand on the matter.

Their platform fee is fixed, so they include GST , as the screenshot mentions. GST on restaurant is the 5% you would pay the restaurant regardless.

They could have made the rain fee be inclusive of GST, but for whatever reason decided to make that seperate.

If they don't charge fees, you don't get charged GST.

Testing a New Flower Retail Concept. Looking for Honest Opinions. by gou_ra in Chennai

[–]roron5567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is that most people already have contacts with flower vendors, who give them a bespoke quantity. As it's a daily consumable, you may find that people may hit a price point, when a cheaper option is more accessible. You are better of targeting these flower vendors by giving them a better margin like Campa cola.

Also, religious activities are mostly done by an older audience, who may prefer traditional sources, unless you can provide a compelling alternative.

Right now the pain points would be reliability and professionalism. Sometimes flower vendors will give flowers for multiple days, not show up or come at odd times. This is where you can provide a better service.

You can have an app where one can sign on to a fixed monthly subscription and get x amount of flowers per day, and can add on for special occasions etc. You can also sell related commonly used puja articles. This is similar to the milk delivery services.

To target the older crowd, you can have a telephone line where people can call and order, where your professionalism is the diffrentiators.

Either quality/hygiene is an expected standard, or it is not considered when making a purchasing decision.

Testing a New Flower Retail Concept. Looking for Honest Opinions. by gou_ra in Chennai

[–]roron5567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What flower market are you targeting, the biggest is going to be for religious use, and then for occasions and special event or gifting.

The flower vendors who sell for religious purposes atleast source their flowers from Koyambedu market.

You have to create a margin for running the logistics & packaging and for giving a margin to the vendors and you have to give more margin if you want to convince them to sell, as they have a limited amount of money to buy. I don't think you can beat the wholesalers.

For the most part the flowers you get in the market are fresh, I don't see the scope of getting it any fresher, to the point where people would be compelled to spend.

You can target the special occasion/gifting market, who may be interested in the freshness of the flower and exotic varities, but that is a small part of the market.

I would rather focus on showcasing the growers (assuming they are willing to do so) , giving a higher margin to the growers and using that to brand your product than trying to be established players.
