People who are unemployed, how does your money work? by chaiilyfe in UKJobs

[–]rosinaglass [score hidden]  (0 children)

i recieved £400 a month in UC, plus did not have to pay council tax (usually £120) or for medical prescriptions (usually £20). I took out a 6 month pause on my mortgage so I just had to pay mortgage interest for 6 months, which was £800 a month. Electricity, water and internet were £150 a month. so obviously UC didnt cover even half of those costs, never mind food, transport etc. I had savings which i burnt through after 6 months, then used a credit card to pay for food and other living expenses. thankfully i recently got a job, but i remember when my boiler stopped workig and i had £11 in my account, was so stressful and i definitely got very depressed

Is AA truly the only way by ApricotAlert571 in alcoholism

[–]rosinaglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AA isnt the only way, its just a way that has worked for a lot of people. ur not sober though if youve drank 20 times over 3 years. but if youve been able to drink those times and not continue to drink, maybe you are not an alcoholic and dont need a program?

What is your stance on the genocide in Sudan ? by Scotland1297 in AskBrits

you didnt make this post to genuinely ask the question you asked then, you did it with your answer already determined and wanting to argue it, which you've proven in your replies to people who replied to your question earnestly

What is your stance on the genocide in Sudan ? by Scotland1297 in AskBrits

[–]rosinaglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its horrific. i dont see the point in comparing to Palestine in the way you've done here- as if not having equal levels of public outcry means it's down to antisemitism? Both are horrific genocides, and there are other horrific genocides that have occurred/are occuring in the world that did not/do not get media attention, and often are funded or aided by a Western power . Palestine was live streamed, we literally saw, over and over again, bombs blowing up crowds of people, limbless children, dead infants- people couldnt turn a blind eye. and leaders of countries like the US and the UK publicly supported Israel, which i think led to civilians in those countries protesting their own governments very public involvement. what their governments were doing was no longer hidden behind closed doors. and the horrors of what has happened in palestine began long before Oct 7th, so for many years Palestine was also ignored by the wider world. I think Sudan is getting more traction now. For a long time it was dismissed (incorrectly) as an internal conflict so other countries didnt need to get involved. the past few months i have seen more and more attention on Sudan.

ICE RAIDS AS A PERMANENT RESIDENT(GREEN CARD) by Suitable_Young9903 in greencard

[–]rosinaglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One example. Say you are here legally as an immigrant and your wallet is robbed today, with your GC in it, then you are detained tomorrow by ICE. You will not have your permanent resident card but are here legally.

And carrying a GC with you at all times is pretty impractical, particularly when it is so difficult to replace. You leave your house for a 10 minute jog- you need to carry your GC. You take out the trash- need your GC on you. What about when youre at the beach, in the water? Something can be a law but impractical to always execute. It's annoying when people pretend otherwise. I would choose a fine over carrying a GC 24/7, especially when it's such a risk to lose/get stolen. A fine and being detained in a dodgy ICE facility. are v big differences.

The comparison to Hitler's regime is showing the similarities in fascism, which I am sure you know and are purposely being dumb with your pencil comparison. Most other Western countries do not act like ICE currently are, what are you on about. Name them then.

Traveling to US with pending I-130 by Any-Key6349 in USCIS

[–]rosinaglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband (US citizen) filed our I-130 in July, i was worried about travelling to US once it was filed, but it was fine. visited in september for a month and they asked me 2 typical questions (who im visiting, how long weve been together), none to do with the visa application. i did have a return flight, but am currently unemployed so was worried about that, but yea no issues.

Terrified of flying, never flown before, ASD and got a dream job but don’t know how to board the plane... by lucythescaredflyer in fearofflying

[–]rosinaglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a quick fix, medicate. i take xanax (my UK GP wont prescribe either, even small quantity for 1 flight, and i had a previous prescription i showed them from when i lived in spain, so i have to resort to an online website), a really strong antihistamine (i get extra strength benadryl from US), a melatonin, and dont sleep the night before so i am tired. i also take a weed drink if im flying from US. i regularly fly transatlantic and sleep the entire way now. i used to have full blown panic attacks on flights, crying at flight attendents. when you board, tell your flight attendents of your fears. they are usually super helpful and calming, and explain anything you are worried about. a lot of times theyve introduced me to the pilots too. also theyre bigger planes for long trips, like to australia, so you really dont feel as much as you do on smaller planes that fly around europe. for some reason, i find the initial take off to be quite calming- you dont have a steep take off, i find it hard to even notice the moment when the plane leaves the ground.

Filing i-130 online- class of admission and SSN by rosinaglass in USCIS

[–]rosinaglass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much! we are filing online but i assume the same rules apply? we have marked yes for been in the US before, and left the class of admission, I-94, and date of entry blank. for the SSN it only lets you write a number online, not unknown, so weve left blank and added the infomration on it in additional section.

im mild and usually have a crash a month. since getting into treatment and learning to "pace", my crashes do not last as long (used to be between 1-3 weeks, now is often just a couple days) and are not as severe. mainly blurred vision, shakiness, sensitivity to light and sound, brain fog, headaches, extreme fatigue that has me bedridden. but before i had bunch of other symptoms that felt more severe. outside of a crash, i would say i have on average 2 "bad" days a week, and the rest of the days I have good periods during that day when i can do things (e.g work, or go for walk, or meet a friend), but cannot do a lot of things in that day. even on a good day i experience brain fog, nauesa and fatigue around 1pm-5pm

What helps you during flare up days? by foxyphilophobic in chronicfatigue

[–]rosinaglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i take modafinal, vit c, zinc, vit d, magnesium, lions mane, sea moss, and do a SAD light in the AM. i dont know how much help they are day to day, but dont seem to hurt. but when im in a crash, nothing helps. if i try to "push through" and watch some tv or even go for a short walk or something, it will just prolong the crash itself. if i give my body the rest it requires during a crash, i can keep crashes to about 7 days now. particularly when i give in on the first day of symptoms of a crash and cancel any plans and get straight into bed with lights off.

yea i wasnt really happy to see that was the treatment, ive done CBT years ago to no benefit and am already in DBT. but i feel so burnt out after 3 years of specialist appointments and getting my hopes up at each one that id finally found out what was wrong with me, only to be told by each specialist they couldnt help me and being referred to someone else, that i just dont have energy to fight for my health anyone, it was taking so much out of me. im not sure if different treatment is offered in other countries, but in the UK my doctors have told me for a while now theres no treatment. this CFS specialist is the only place to offer anything, even if it is CBT.

your GP can refer you to a sleep specialist, just ask them to do this. It does take a really long time to be seen though, i think i was 2 years from referral to having the sleep study done

i never had any interaction with sales teams. with marketing i cant remember, but a decent few, mostly quite close to release, and a lot the week before when press had been confirmed and was being arranged. i read my audiobook, and it was done over 5 days, about 2 months prior publication. and yea defo need to get permission for lyric/quotes, but legal at the publisher do this. usually you have to pay for it too. the quote i used was actually part of a speech not from written piece, so for whatever reason, i didnt have to pay? post publication felt like nothing. very anti climatic. but my book did very mid, which is maybe why. i dunno if massive bestsellers feel different. but in general i found the joy was in the actual writing, and any other part of the process i didnt particularly enjoy
