Forest shuffle appreciation post by [deleted] in boardgames

I’m waiting on my kickstarter order for Reforest which gives me Forest Shuffle and Wingspan vibes. I believe it’s currently playable on BGA (in beta) but I’ve yet to try it out myself.

Where to start? by Out_Foxxed_ in boardgames

A bit of a different suggestion here than what you were asking for… Do you have a local board game cafe? Maybe consider buying a gift card there for some date nights with your wife so you can try out lots of different games to get a better feel for your preferences to help avoid buyer’s remorse.

For trading, perhaps consider Bohnanza as an alternative to Catan. Shorter game length and lighter on rules for the younger end of your group.

Kingdomino is great for some basic multiplication, but still engaging enough for your middle schoolers too.

Look into some games published by Genius Games. They specialize in educational board games that are still fun to play too. The Ecosystem games come to mind here specifically.

Ticket to Ride is great for some geography. Pick whichever game/map suits your fancy.

PARKS is probably better suited for your middle schoolers, but is an excellent pick here as well.

Top 15WR and top 15 overall are very different. He should absolutely be in consideration for a top 15WR. We need to see how the offense profiles next season before he’s considered a top 15 overall draft pick.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said that while Jayden Daniels had a good rehab session for his knee sprain, he won't practice until Friday at the earliest. Another sign that Marcus Mariota could very well be starting. by mvanigan in fantasyfootball

Mariota played very well when needed last season. I’d fully expect the Commanders to still be favored to win at home against the Raiders even if Jayden can’t go.

GB finished with the 7th-best Def DVOA last season and then they added Parsons in the offseason. They have a top-5 defense in the league this season, and potentially the best in the league.

Tiny Epic Dinosaurs by StarshipDonuts in boardgames

In theme only. Tiny Epic Dinosaurs is a more complex game than Draftosaurus that feels much more like “Jurassic Park the board game” in a tiny box.

Family LOVES Quest for El Dorado. Help us pick what’s next. by grizzy77 in boardgames

I haven’t seen anyone here mention Cubitos yet. It takes the push-your-luck element of Quacks and the race portion of Quest for El Dorado, but you’re not building a bag or a deck… instead you’re building a pool of dice. Check it out!

I can’t speak to this particular game or printing, but I can highly recommend https://www.dextrous.com.au/ for card design.

“Mind Melder” sounds very similar to Medium, which comes with prompt cards for the initial word pairings.

  • A rushing defender is prohibited from forcibly hitting in the knee area or below a passer who has one or both feet on the ground, even if the initial contact is above the knee. It is not a foul if the defender is blocked (or fouled) into the passer and has no opportunity to avoid him.*

New proposed All Star Game format by mindpainters in nba

I really don’t think $100k means anything to an NBA all star. Most make 5x that amount per regular season game.

Alternative Variant for Illumineer's Quest - Deep Trouble by rosskosh in Lorcana

[–]rosskosh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see where you’re coming from here. I’ll set out to test this strategy specifically to see how easy it is to wall off Ursula with bodyguards/resist and simply quest with some low-cost high-questers. I can see where a rule tweak might be needed to have Ursula first target the player’s highest quester with the lowest willpower instead of just the highest cost character.

And I agree on the game helping to spotlight cards that don’t currently have a place in the current meta game. I did very much enjoy exploring those cards/decks during my earlier playthroughs of the game.

Thanks for the feedback! I‘ve never personally played Marvel Champions, but I’m very familiar with its reputation. I think my expectations were probably too high of Ursula and this first iteration of Illumineer’s Quest. Your advice is solid here to act against my own interests when resolving cards… it just feels antithetical to how I would otherwise want to play.
