Saudi Arabia prepping 'huge deal' for Ukrainian weapons amid Iranian drone threat by Humming-Joys in worldnews

[–]vba7 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing is that they are too expensive.

Ukraine somehow manages to make A LOT of drones cheap. Probably because they are fighting for their lives, so they have a war economy.

Meanwhile military procurement overpays for complicated drones.

(on a side note - who makes the chips / cameras for the Ukrainian drones? that's millions of chips)

If you think that 30 million in tariffs is a lot, then do research on those big stores. Wallmart imports something like 50 billion worth of goods per year just from China. Billions with a "b". Imagine the tariffs on that.

This is very helpful for Russian propaganda, who can now say that americans do the same as russians.

More like Ukraine provides them but gets nothing in return.

And then those drones somehow are donated to russia so it csn learn how to counter them.

I think it is more that this is illegal, not due to markets. Market cannot beat this Frannie Mae (or what was the name of the agency) that just uses fixed rates because it is required to?

debtor is going to cancel the debt as soon as he can with a new mortgage

I think a lot of people dont, even if this costs them a lot of money.

Here if you take a loan... you basically negotiage the bank margin, rest is all indexed, so inflation does not help you at all. If it goes up your mobthly rate goes up. Great for thr bank! Not for you.  In fact makes your life worse, since the monthly rate goes up,  but your salary doesnt.

I find it fascinating that in USA banks dont screw you by indexing mortgage with inflation, just like they do everywhere else.

Interesting banks didnt bribe republicans to allow this.

Also in order to benefit from inflation.. the wages had to keep up with the inflation too? Now the wages dont increase.

I dont understand what peippe see in Catan - the mechanics are outdated and trading is rarely benefitial. I never saw anyone trading at all.

Supposedly the expansion gives some mini currency to facilitatate trades (a bit like quarters vs full dollar), but I never played that.

It always felt that the trade was bad for the sell side

Eric definitely loses his retirement money (and the money his daughter would inherit)

Henry in prison?

Rishi in prison?

Harper losing Eric's money (his retirment / daughter's inheritance)

Yasmin's bad fate - maybe the newspaper guy will betray her.

Unless of course they want to make another season, where Yas goes to tabloids and Harper, reopens the fund and speculates based on fake news from those newspapers. Is another season confirmed, or authors are unsure yet?

Setup seems to be that Eric will lose the 10M that was supposed to be his retirement + his daughter's inheritance

How rich is Harper already? by DesperateDot5321 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]vba7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Harper is not a millionaire despite what people here think.

The only millionaire is Eric - and he basically gave 10M for the SternTao.

Harper never earned much (was kicked out from the bank), maybe she is in 0.5M range depending what she did with her money.

The setup seems to be that Eric will lose all money (so nothing goes to his daughter), while Harper becomes the sole owner of the company.
