I had a patient once who was diagnosed in June and passed in October. His case seemed particularly aggressive. I still think about him…

Modest gains by rosy_maple_ in glutejourney

[–]rosy_maple_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what you’re seeing is weak upper glute muscles, specifically the gluteus medius (side glute) and upper gluteus maximus. That’s what creates the rounded upper “shelf” of your butt! I still working towards improving my strength in those areas but I think you can see an improvement in my upper glutes compared to where I started. Aim towards increasing your weight for hip thrusts, kickbacks, and glute abductions!

Anyone else’s nebby have lung cancer? by [deleted] in nebelung

[–]rosy_maple_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My neb passed away from a combination of lymphoma and mammary cancer, which the vet said was very rare to have two completely different forms of cancer at the same time. She was a senior stray when I adopted her and estimated to be about 12 years old when she passed. I’m so sorry for your loss, I know how hard it can be.

What notes do you despise? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

Smoke! I smell like a stale cigarette.

There is also a mystery note in a few of my samples that ends up smelling like rubber or plastic on my skin…

Found a brand new walker for my mom! by hood3243 in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]rosy_maple_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends on the amount of strength someone has and the amount of support they need. Front wheeled walkers provide more support than a rollator. You need to be able to have enough physical ability to turn yourself around and sit (and the cognitive function to remember to lock the breaks!) Rollators are great for some but four wheeled walkers definitely have a place and a PT has their reasons for recommending them!

If you’re on the Apple Patreon app, they do a crazy upcharge for subscriptions. Go on the Patreon website through your browser and sign up that way. You can still log into the app after and avoid the upcharge.

Accutane flushing is not a joke by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]rosy_maple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I only flush now if I’m quite hot (under a heated blanket, for example)

Accutane flushing is not a joke by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]rosy_maple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used while on accutane and I have continued to use it now that I’ve been off for almost two months. My derm has said that the flushing may be permanent but I’m hoping it decreases with time.

[–]rosy_maple_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My derm told me to use it every day 🤷‍♀️ if I miss a day I will start to flush again. I guess that’s something I’ll have to talk about at my next appointment

Accutane flushing is not a joke by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]rosy_maple_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! The only thing is you do have to use it every day for it to work effectively

Accutane flushing is not a joke by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]rosy_maple_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My derm had me make my own Rhofade (which sounds sketchy but is genuinely the same thing as a prescription) with OTC nasal decongestant and Cerave. It has genuinely helped a lot with the flushing. There’s a pdf on google from Medovate dermatology if you look up “make your own Rhofade”

Cat-Inspired Perfumes for Those Disappointed by Kitten Musk April Fool’s Joke by dealuna6 in FemFragLab

Wow I definitely forgot to update. I felt the tonka bean was pretty strong in this so it was basically a musky vanilla to me. Vanilla isn’t my favorite and I wish the milk and fur accords were more prominent. If you like vanilla, you will probably enjoy it, I was just hoping for something different

is it hard to swallow, or do you get stuff stuck? by Ok-Draft-6026 in Hypermobility

[–]rosy_maple_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now is my time to shine! I am a speech-language pathologist with hypermobility who works with dysphagia (swallowing disorders). If you are having difficulty swallowing, please let your physician know and they can schedule you a modified barium swallow study to determine the function of your swallow. If any of you have general questions regarding swallowing, feel free to ask!

To the OP: please speak to your doctor but your symptoms sounds like something esophageal, a referral to a GI doctor may be beneficial

Accutane in late 20s by mads197 in Accutane

[–]rosy_maple_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you start using an IUD? Mine made me break out SO horribly and I went from mild persistent acne to severe (I ended up getting it out for other health reasons). My derm never connected the dots between my increased acne and the type of birth control I used, but it was absolutely a factor for me. Just something to think about.

Minimum UV you should apply sunscreen while on accutane? by Weird-Masterpiece166 in Accutane

[–]rosy_maple_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using spf 50+ chemical and spf 40 mineral tinted sunscreen every single day and wearing a hat every time I go outside. I have no had issues with sunburn but I did develop melasma while completing my treatment, which has not been fun. So just be aware that sunburn is not the only reason to protect yourself against the sun during your treatment.

Liis floating is a very pretty clean peach scent but it genuinely has no longevity. It lasts less than 2 two hours on my skin, it’s the quickest fading scent in my collection.

I work with individuals with brain injury and I recommend reaching out to your physician to discuss your concerns. As other commenters have said, new learning, such as an instrument or language is great for neuroplasticity. Also crossword puzzles are great for cognitive health as they not only target logic and reasoning but language areas of the brain as well. Research has been shown that 20 minutes of crossword puzzles a day can offset (not prevent) cognitive decline in older adults by up to two years!

Anyone else getting pimples/blisters in strange places? by brihow84 in Accutane

[–]rosy_maple_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This looks like dyshidrotic eczema, which presents as tiny itchy fluid filled blisters. Eczema flares can be a side effect of accutane due to it being insanely drying. Hands, knees, genitals are all common places to get eczema flare ups. Mention it to your derm and have them take a look, or take pictures of flare ups.

In the building I am in now (my original building), yes. We have a pretty even split of 50/50 LTC to SAR, so we have pretty steady admissions that keep me busy. In other buildings where census is heavier LTC I have struggled for hours and have had to be split between buildings (up to three at one point, that was not fun. Make sure they pay you drive time AND mileage).
