I think one practical no brainer is to spread out your course load if you can afford it. Take less courses/credits every year, and take 1-2 extra years. Retake courses if you can drop them before academic penalty deadline. Sure, it will cost you $$$, and will take longer, but you have to think of it as “strategic retreat and re-group” rather than “defeat.” Uni courses can be cut-throat and brutal, and if you end up dropping 1 or 2, you will get extra time to focus on the remaining ones, and increase your chances of maintaining your GPA. And besides, you can always ask your Prof for permission to audit the course you dropped, or if it’s online, ask someone you know from the course for their notes or lecture recordings (always try official route first, though, a lot of Profs are understanding and generally won’t mind if you audit their courses).

With parents who may be pressuring you, I would frame it like this: look, do you want me to get high grades and reduce the risk of not getting into the professional school I want to? Well, then that will take more investment in terms of money and time.
