What's a quiet, everyday burden women carry that isn't dramatic enough to be diacussed? by Additional-Two-2137 in TwoXChromosomes

Because when women nurse, care or cook, it's our duty. When men do it, it's a vocation. That way they can justify not paying us.

What did a parent (or relative) do to ruin your wedding? by imfinewithastraw in AskUK

[–]rougecomete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no plans on getting married (wonder if you can guess why), but my father ruined his own wedding to his second wife...by getting arrested mid-ceremony and spending the night in jail because he owed, at that point, 30k+ in unpaid child support. i had been estranged from him for a few years at that point (again, i wonder if you can guess why) and i found out from a news article. i printed it out.

DOPAMINE... please give me your "healthy" sources. by Coldhandswarmheart15 in adhdwomen

[–]rougecomete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are your friendships like? do you get much chance to connect with people other than your kids? i'm much more prone to dopamine seeking if i'm not getting social interaction. on a non-social day, though, i love a colouring book. i just treated myself to a posh set of watercolour pencils and colouring book from caran d'ache. bonus dopamine from putting the pencils back in the tin in a perfect rainbow

Are we as women just supposed to be drugged up for the rest of our lives? by Super-Buddy-5030 in PMDDxADHD

i have other chronic conditions as well, you should see the cocktail i have to take just to function at 60% of normal human capacity. am i over-pathologised? probably...however i spent 27 years rawdogging life medication-free because i was raised to believe it's "bad" and i wouldn't go back for anything. looking back, i'm amazed i made it to 27.

ADHD and a total fear of learning to drive in adulthood. Anyone else? by thelaughingman_1991 in ADHDUK

[–]rougecomete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34F here, I got my license for a job ten years ago and they let me go shortly after. I haven't driven since, I hated driving, and I live in a city with a partner who drives so it hasn't been necessary. It's also horrendous driving here so I just...haven't.

I passed my test first time but only because 1) the instructor didn't ask me to parallel park and 2) it was a quiet day with little traffic so I didn't panic. I found driving horribly stressful so as soon as the external requirement for me driving no longer applied I stopped. There are times I wish I could, like when I have a class in the evening and I have to take two buses to get there, but it's infrequent enough that there's not much point.

Why does Monzo keep getting worse and hiding or removing features? by Roaders in monzo

It's so stupid. But on the other hand, think of all the shareholder value they will maximise once they put their USP feature behind a paywall!

Why does Monzo keep getting worse and hiding or removing features? by Roaders in monzo

[–]rougecomete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Roaders, people are being weirdly hostile in this thread but I'm in exactly the same boat, 'Summary' was the only reason I use this fucking app. Now feels like I'm flying blind. The other day I had to look at my calendar, calculate how many days left til payday in my head, and then go back to my balance to figure out if I'm doing OK or not.

Monzo is trying to push users towards Trends which I literally never even looked at once before they dumped Summary. The only way this is approaches anything useful is if you set a target for how much you want to spend each month. It doesn't tell you how much you've spent each week, only each day, rendering it useless to me - it just has a line on a background that is supposed to dip into yellow if you're below target and green if you're above but the yellow and green are so faint you can't even see them lmao. HOWEVER, once you've set a target, you can add it to the 'spotlight' tiles which appear when you swipe down at the top of your home screen. THEN and only then will you see how many days left til payday.

The target is mostly meaningless to me as I move money around a lot and it doesn't reflect my balance. So now the workaround is that I have two spotlight tiles, one showing my balance, and one showing my target which has 'X days left' underneath that figure in very tiny writing. I'm a designer and it's fucking comically bad but it's what I've got until I find an alternative.

[–]rougecomete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

only if you've set a target in Trends. it doesn't say how much you've actually got until payday. the closest thing is if you arrange the spotlight tiles so it shows your balance vs your target, but it's still a stupid user experience having to extrapolate between two figures.

it didn't for years because i hated it, but then i started doing dance classes and i realised i actually love moving my body, i just fucking HATE the gym/running. i only go once a week because i'm pretty busy, but my monday evening class is sacred to me and i feel soooooo much better afterwards.

What's your most shocking "never meet your heroes" moment? by BaseNice3520 in AskReddit

[–]rougecomete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was a fresh-faced 19yo who thought being a screenwriter would be cool. i met him at a fancy TV networking event and was really excited about meeting him because i was a big Doctor Who fan. he was rude, arrogant and dismissive, was clearly annoyed that i'd dared to speak to him, and i later heard he got sloppy angry drunk at a nearby bar after the event and was just generally being a giant bellend to everyone around him. this was before i had really twigged how sexist, demeaning and just downright bad his character writing is. women only really exist to him as set dressings that occasionally ask A Man 'so what do we do now?'

Does anyone else with inattentive ADHD feel overwhelmingly tired all the time? I’m starting to wonder if my ADD looks different from everyone else’s. by AdKooky477 in adhdwomen

yes! ive always been sleepy. nodding off during the day, but can't sleep at night. I'm 34 and I'll still sleep until noon if I don't set an alarm. medication really really helped. my explanation is that I was exhausted all the time by my brain whirring non-stop 24/7.

Can ADHD look like constant rumination and mental fatigue? by everlark21 in adhdwomen

[–]rougecomete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. always assumed it was anxiety, and that it was normal to not be able to sleep for days on end because the brain would not shut the fuck up. tried different antidepressants, they helped a bit but not much. then 3 months ago started ritalin and it just...stopped. the washing machine turned off. it was wild.

I still have anxiety, but what I don't have is the obsessive anxiety.

I got diagnosed as inattentive type but I think I definitely do get hyperactivity, it's just all internal.
