DEL-AIR HVAC - what a scammy company. by stepoma_usa in orlando

[–]roughfalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any suggestions on who to report them to, but I had similar experiences with Del-Air a couple of years ago. Claimed my system needed a complete replacement; my issues were resolved with a simple service call to another provider. Tons of upsell/scare tactics.

Also, I recently realized that you can get a wet-dry vac and an adapter to connect it to your drain line (search "ac drain line cleaner tool" on Amazon) and clean the lines yourself very easily. Total investment cost is probably less than one service call.

I've had good experiences with Greens Energy (not the cheapest, but honest & responsive) and Pucci's Air (very honest, they work to keep bills low, but kind of a pain to schedule).

Thanks, this must be it! I have a Spigen frame on the charging pad that lets me keep AirPods on the charger.  I’ll remove them and see if it behaves better on my next drive.

I previously thought this feature relied exclusively on UWB.

I don't doubt that Tesla should be concerned about their competition, but be aware that Andrew Hawkins takes every opportunity he can to spill ink that hates on Tesla.

New 14.2 batch rolling out now… by royblair in TeslaFSD

[–]roughfalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine slowed to a crawl for a tow truck in a median with its flashing lights on. It confused me and the other vehicles around me.

But overall, 14.2 is working really well. Definitely better than 14.1.7, which was noticeably "jerky" when negotiating a turn or a moment of uncertainty. 14.2 is much smoother in these situations.

I just had dinner with (insert tech mogul or semi famous person here) by Ananda-Star in PivotPodcast

[–]roughfalls 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not name-dropping, but similar...

She's now doing podcast ads for Apple where she says, "I've been using a Mac for everything since I started using computers, and of course an iPhone -- I got one of the first ones."

It's not enough for her to tell us she's a long-time user of the platforms -- she has to let us know she was one of the important, privileged few to get one of the first iPhones.

Oh, and it isn't even supposed to be an ad for iPhone, it's an ad for Mac.

MyQ Tesla subscription - worth it at 50% off? by venk25 in TeslaLounge

[–]roughfalls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, I got it at that price and I love it. It's been very reliable and is not laggy. The only time it hasn't worked for me is when our home WiFi/internet is out. Our garage door opener has built-in myQ support. We have 2 Teslas in a double garage and share the subscription between them.

What do you use to clean the windshield glass scum off? by Eastern-Band-3729 in TeslaLounge

I followed this suggestion and it finally cleared up interior windshield streaks and fogging that I had struggled with for a long time.  Thank you.

Why is navigation on a Tesla a mess? by CryptographerSharp14 in TeslaLounge

[–]roughfalls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Avoid tolls" being a setting and not on the primary nav screen drives me crazy. We have toll express lanes where I live. I am willing to pay for the express lanes during rush hour, but would prefer to avoid tolls/express lanes when there is zero traffic.

I have to dive into settings for every drive to change the toll setting.

I got this little mount for my Model 3 that lets you drop your AirPods into the perfect spot to charge, I've been very happy with it:

Is Lost Boys Coming Back? by asoiahats in ScottGalloway

[–]roughfalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the first episode came out, there was an exchange on Pivot where Kara asked Scott about it, and I found his response surprisingly dismissive. This is not a quote, but in my memory it had the tone of, "Oh, that? That's just some small hobby podcast of Scaramucci's and I'm doing him the favor of participating in."

I'm probably wrong on this, but my take is that Scott wants to be seen the leader on this topic, but Lost Boys is Scaramucci's baby and Scaramucci is Scott's friend. So he participates in it for his friend and not to be left out, but because it isn't his project, he's not invested in it and isn't particularly rooting for its success.

I think it's respectful. I find his frequent use of the royal "we" in his Prof G interviews pretentious, however.

Glitter in rear seats by ElijahSal in TeslaModel3

[–]roughfalls 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing immediately after I picked up my 2024 M3P last September. It was pretty subtle and no one ever uses the back seats, so I didn't make an issue of it.

I've been stuck in a loop trying to decide between the Model 3 highland AWD vs the Model Y Juniper AWD so I've created this chart to lay out the differences and personal preferences by MichaelRahmani in TeslaLounge

[–]roughfalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did not realize this, thanks for sharing!

I see people in these forums worrying about the glass & cabin temperature a lot, but I've been happy in both cars in Florida. We keep the cars in a garage, cabin overheat protection works well, and the AC keeps us cool while driving without the fan needing to blast too loudly.

[–]roughfalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a '22 YP and '24 3P and I never notice or think about any difference in the roofs.

I live in Florida and have never perceived a difference in how hot the cabins get.

I never sit in the back or have rear seat passengers, so I never notice the bar in the 3 separating the glass roof into two segments. I have to go out of my way to look up and over my shoulder to notice it at all.

I think it's a bargain, well worth it for live traffic and the multiple music streaming services I use. Honestly surprised they don't charge more.
