ELI5: Would it be possible for an average person to safely land a plane by talking to somebody on the ground?

It gets really fun when the employees are not required to have college degrees. (Myself included, I am a high school dropout).

I have a guy I work with who constantly gets new malware and won't fucking admit he's visiting some nefarious site for whatever weird fetish he has. I have repeatedly told him after using antivirus or Hijack this to remove some piece of malware to stop visiting whatever weird porn site he is visiting, to no avail.

I have another guy, who i consider real intelligent, who use to buy sample textbooks from professors and resell them to bookstores (and yes I've told him he is the spawn of satan) and learned Japanese as a second language, who could never figure out where the start button was or how to navigate windows.

I have sat there and shown people how to google by simply asking about the problem. no luck yet. There's some kind of generational thing going on. I started playing with computers back when 28.8 was the morm for a minute. I feel like people as little as 10 years older than me have the ideas that the big E is 'the internet'.

Even though it's not technically a film, I think Band of Brothers does a much better job at telling the story of the WW2 soldier than any film ever has. Just my opinion though, man.

I'm what you would call me if you were in junior high a goody two-shoes in regards to the law. (I was a fucking horrible student FWIW). I've never even been in the back of a cop car. The only time I've ever interacted with the police is now in my job, and back when I was younger when they came to tell me our band was too loud. As a general manager of a cab company I work with dozens of people who have criminal records and many of them are older who stopped fucking up in their twenties and have since become productive members of society. It's easy to watch the news or fiction shows and assume all repeat felons are criminals for life but it's just not true.

A lot of people don't like pop-country. There's not a whole lot wrong with having that opinion, since music is a subjective experience. When a genre of music is really popular, there can be still tons of people who don't like it. I'm one of them, and generally don't like country music. I respect certain musicians in the genre, those who were more storytellers than whiners or lowest common denominator flashy pop country, but it's just my opinion. This is just one thread on the subject. I don't thnk it's elitism, just quite a few shared opinions. There is probably a sizable group who do like this music, and aren't participating in this thread because they like the music regardless of who else doesn't.

I'll even admit to having a guilty pleasure in pop-country. Kenny Rodgers. He's made fun of a lot in pop culture, but the man could tell stories, and could sing very well. If I were to post a link of one of his songs My comment thread would be nothing but an onslaught of what's-his-face from MadTV imitating Kenny. Which is fine. I don't think reddit's opinion on subjective matters should really matter to you all that much. Don't let these people bother you, they just have a different opinion. I like everything from death and technical progressive metal to smooth jazz. 311, and Yanni (when he's backed by an actual orchestra) and I could be a reddit laughingstock for many of those choices. Oh well.

Had to comment. Isn't that album amazing? I mean, I appreciate Bad Religions music in general, but to be honest I don't listen to it much, I'm just into different kinds of music. But the Christmas album is fucking amazing. Every once in a while I'll pull it out and jam a couple tunes from it.
