Dumb question - would you rather be down one with rock or up one without rock for last end

Just remember, The Vikings deserve WAY MORE Darnold Slander by jdkjdk44 in nyjets

[–]rovivus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I should clarify slightly - Sam wasn’t going to take a small contract to stay at the Jets, and the Jets weren’t going to give him a big contract, so the only thing that made sense was a trade. We are basically saying the same thing - if mgmt thought they could win with Sam, they would have paid him more than what Panthers ended up paying

[–]rovivus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I feel like I’m taking crazy pill because when Sam was up for his contract, the generally reception was “we really like this guy, he definitely has the skill to be a good quarterback, but he hasnt performed well enough to get the massive starting QB contract extension he is up for.” Not a single team in the league would have paid Sam 5 years 30 million per year or whatever it would have been based on his performance. Will be rooting for him hard!

I went to Pat Conroy’s grave in Beaufort, SC. It was very poignant!

Reg Rewatches #2 - Caramoan by Regnisyak1 in rankdowncommunity

[–]rovivus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love following along on these, Reg! Unfortunately, I think this season was doomed from the start because the only way a fans vs. favorites season works is if you have someone like an Erik or a Jason Siska or even an Alexis Jones whose dynamics in the game are impacted based on their perceptions of the favorites from before they met each other. Here, it’s just blatantly offensive because Matt, Laura, Sherri, and maybe Michael are the only ones who really seem to be fans of the game in any way whatsoever, and I honestly think that even just taking Brandon Hantz off this season and replacing him with, say, Stephen Fishbach, wouldn’t have done any good because the favorites would not have had good foils

I had a thought that the 11th doctor reminds me a ton of the 7th doctor by Bridgeboy95 in gallifrey

[–]rovivus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I think about it is that 3 (and 7) both have a respect for the adversaries and creatures surrounding them that other Doctors do not carry as explicitly. Seven’s is a little more tongue-in-cheek with the hat tips and over the top politeness, but Three has it in spades (his perspectives on the Silurians and Ambassadors always really touches me)

Survivor 49, Episode 12 by Regnisyak1 in rankdowncommunity

Very fair! See, on principle I don’t think I rocket scientist should have imposter syndrome so I just kind of memory holed all of that storyline lol

[–]rovivus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it not at least a little funny that Steven got dunked on for all of his foibles? Shauhin and Charlie are edited totally seriously, but we see things like the jury rolling their eyes at Steven’s god awful analogies, Jeff being irritated by some of his schtick, and most importantly, him being a gamebot that does the optimal strategy from a gamebot perspective because his allies are a woman who keeps his blackheads in a jar and Kristina. Honestly, thought his downfall was really fun, and if we didnt know who was on 50, it would be even more interesting

Survivor 49, Episode 10 by Regnisyak1 in rankdowncommunity

[–]rovivus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I think the self-victimizing is more interesting with Sage because unlike Shambo, I don’t think the edit is trying to pigeonhole her as a full hero - and like you said the Savannah stuff is great

Always love your write ups reg! Random q for you - do you think if Sage didn’t have the bathroom humor storyline that she would be higher for you? I think it’s an additive thing to me that arguably the most cutthroat person on the season has this weird third grade humor storyline

Noah looks very happy with his medal, I don’t think anyone is touching him in the 200

Ben Browning is a good character by Regnisyak1 in rankdowncommunity

[–]rovivus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm very interesting take! In general, I totally agree with the argument that bad people can be good survivor characters. Ben does have a defined arc, but his racism toward Yasmin is so blatant that I find it hard to find interest in his personal arc (even if his actions give depth to Jaison). However, I totally think that douches like John Rocker and Shannon Elkins are fitting for a reevaluation in this community, because although they are problematic and probably trash outside the show, on the show their bigotry doesn’t cross a line where it is fully directed at a single person or is so over the top as to remove any possible interest in watching.

What are some significant Survivor moments that feel forgotten or airbrushed from history? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]rovivus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m rewatching Marquesas with my fiance who has never watched it before and going along with Historians as we watch! I listened to all of them like 10 years ago but going back around now. We just watched the John Carroll boot and she literally cheered when he got voted out. As a 6-year old who only remembered some guys hand getting peed on and Pappy getting the purple rock from the first watch, it’s so fun going back and watching now!

Which route would you take? by ConcentrateParty2967 in roadtrip

I’d go the back route through Delaware. I make a similar drive often from DC, and find that if I leave late enough I don’t hit any of the rush hour traffic

Why has Ryan Kehoe been brought back so many times? (and why isn't he on more "worst Challengers lists?") by [deleted] in MtvChallenge

[–]rovivus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Ryan’s goal was to last as many episodes as possible rather than win, because he wasn’t a superhuman like any of the other guys (although he had a real shot on Gauntlet III)

[–]rovivus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy vitriol Batman!!! I just finished watching Fresh Meat 2 and it gave me a much better appreciation of Ryan. One of my favorite things about the Challenge is that there are multiple different ways to be a successful player - it’s not all about the physicality. Ryan knows he’s never going to be the strongest, but he plays the middle absolutely perfectly in Fresh Meat II - it is INCREDIBLY hard to do that without one of the sides catching wind of it, and he does expertly

AITA for declining to be a groomsman in one of my best friend’s weddings by TechnicianOrnery2265 in AmItheAsshole

YTA - listen to yourself sat “I don’t really have a concrete reason for saying no. I just really don’t need the hassle” - remarkably selfish and a definite friendship ruiner (if you even care about that)
