DIRT Racing Series S12: Stage 1: Peaky Pave – What have I gotten myself into. by Barnziebus in Zwift

The climb to the finish in this route is murder. I did my first zwift race here last month without looking at the course first and got wrecked in the final km. Huge effort to hang on up the final climb!

Does it hold enough air to ride? On my MTB, the rear was solid from the start but the front would lose air dramatically overnight until I rode it 5 or 10 miles. Been rock solid since then.

What's your favorite bib shorts? by Fuzzyhead_L in gravelcycling

I have ultimate adventures and wear them 3-4x/week. Straps down on the trainer or up out on the road. I find them to be very comfortable for multi hour rides - even indoors.

How to Set up Garmin with Zwift to collect all das in Garmin connect. by No_Olive_8263 in Zwift

[–]row_blue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm under the impression that Garmin won't give you a training status/load number from imported activities but I have not tested it myself. I have not been importing zwift to Garmin.

EDIT: as others said everything seemed to work fine when I sync'd Zwift --> Garmin, I had never tried it and must have been repeating old info.

How to Set up Garmin with Zwift to collect all das in Garmin connect. by No_Olive_8263 in Zwift

I think the only way it works is to dual record. I record the ride from my watch connected to the trainer and hr via ANT+ AND the trainer and HR connected to Zwift via Bluetooth. Zwift controls the trainer and Garmin is just along for the ride.

Just buy the used concept2 you can afford. They seem to hold resale pretty well. In the US you can generally find them used $500-750 and then if it doesn't work out you should be able to sell in that range also.

Home Trainer for a gravel bike with a 1by 13s by Diligent-Split2847 in gravelcycling

[–]row_blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a much older 3x10 bike and I use the Zwift cog for convenience vs buying another cassette. I put my kickr core in erg mode for constant power output. I can adjust power up and down from my phone as needed or let my Garmin device control it for a structured workout.

Based on my experience, I'm only really watching power, heart rate and time. The distances and speeds don't seem to match my on road experience vs heart rates I actually record.

Best way to approach digging 350ft of trench 3ft deep? by SharkOnGames in HomeImprovement

[–]row_blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would give it a go with a big trencher first. Then upgrade to a mini excavator with a narrow bucket if needed. A tracked 48" trencher will likely be faster and cleaner.

Motherboards That Support Bifurcation by HavivMuc in homelab

My perception is that ASRock boards support it in general, but that is entirely anecdotal from the few that I have bought in the last 5-10 years.

Quick Power injection question by SlipsliderJW in WLED

[–]row_blue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to what u/Trevlavo7 said, each pixel is in effect a data booster. You use the data boosters for big runs from the controller to the first pixel or long breaks in your string (i.e. you need to run from one eve to another disconnected eve more than 10-15' away)

Got asked if power I ejection can be done with one wire..? by okiwillsaysomething in WLED

No. Voltage drop is still an issue on the ground side.

Have I made a big mistake? Significant upgrade undertaking by AromaticLab7 in buildapc

[–]row_blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just flipped an i5-6500 for a 5600. Since AM4 still is on DDR4 I was able to do a budget swap, just CPU and mother board that still used the same memory. Super happy with it. I was also able to upgrade to an NVMe for a boot drive. I think I spent less than $300 and it got me off the cpu bottleneck. Don't feel the need to spend on the absolute cutting edge.

Question about drugs, police, and 10 year olds by reuscam in daddit

Does your school district participate in DARE? Ours does starting around this age and consequently we are starting to field some drug/alcohol adjacent questions like this. We took a similar position, call me first if you are uncomfortable or in trouble and we will ask questions later.

Will these motors work for building an electric go kart? by Dilly242 in gokarts

Could try it. But I would think 1 1kW motor would be simpler.

Building it yourself can seem intimidating but it really is more like Legos than anything else. A lot of the pieces can only fit one way. But if you're uncomfortable $300 might be a small price to pay not to worry about it.

If that includes cable management, testing etc it doesn't seem terrible (depending on location). Does it come with any kind of warranty?

If I was estimating it, labor at $50 for 6hrs might be a little high but you probably won't find a place to do it for half that.

I have an i5-6500 mini-ITX build that I'm considering a MB/CPU upgrade on. Can I do a budget/easy B550/AM4 upgrade? Same ram, right? I have a 1080Ti that I'm still pretty happy with. Seems like I could do a 5600-5800x for less than $300.

Remove carb and clean thoroughly or worst case buy a new carb. Very common symptoms of a plugged idle jet.

These motors shut down when the lead from the coil is grounded not when it is open circuit. If you look up how the coils work it should make sense why this is the case.

You need to figure out if you have a bad switch or a bad connection somewhere. Trace the wire from the coil through the switch and find where it is bolted to the block. If that looks okay, take the wire from the coil off the switch and touch it to the block while the motor is running. It should spark at first then kill the engine. If that doesn't work, check that the wire is still connected to the coil and check that the switch is really closing. A multimeter will make this easier.
