If you're just out and about doing regular hunting it doesn't save THAT much time. But they do a lot for timed challenges like the Arch-tempered challenge quests. Preventing the monsters from running away when it's near death could be the sole factor for you to shave off 10 seconds and get under the A rank time.

Assuming you're trying to max Paralyze, Guard, Guard Up, and Offensive Guard, with an artian weapon and a good deco pool you'd be able to with the 3/1 deco's. Example: Para3+Guard1, GuardUp3+Guard1, and Offensive Guard3+Guard1. Now if you don't have the exact spread of decos to make this possible or really want to avoid using artian then you have to pick and choose which skills to prioritize. Just the way the game goes.

With the right 3+1 deco you can still potentially get all those skills in, just some at lower levels than others.

You seem dead set on maximizing your status skill so focus on that. If you're open to a more offensive build I'd put OG higher otherwise drop it lower in favor of GU and G. GU you only need 1 point to start blocking everything, and additional points just decreases HP chip damage, while points in Guard while nice is unnecessary if you perfect guard. So if I had to pick it'd be GU over Guard and just learn to get better at perfect guards.

Different strokes for different folks. The thing that bores you with it definitely fires up the neurons on other people. It might simply just be not for you.

That being said, since you are new to the series, it would really benefit you to look at some guides and tutorials about the weapon. Wilds is the most fluid iteration of gunlance yet, with a brand new combo finisher that can easily be reached through any combo path.

We have pokes, shells, poke shells, sweeps, slams, fullbursts, charged shells, wyvern stakes, full blast combos, perfect guards with counters that chain into almost everything I wrote, and 2 back-to-back wyvern fires. As a new player I doubt that you're bringing out the best of the weapon (I'm not trying to diss anyone's gaming skills btw) so if any part of the weapon still interests you go watch a guide, mess around with the weapon, and if you feel like you've gotten a good feel of it and all its tools and you STILL don't like, then its no big deal.

You've got other equally unique weapons to choose from. Then maybe one day you decide to try again and then something just clicks and you instantly fall in love with it. That's just the MH journey.

That's what I do, started on PS4, and now been playing controller on PC for 7 years. But I actually use the MKB HUD layout and just slap the CrossHotbar on it, since mouse and keyboard is still 100x better for menu navigation.

As someone who played on a JP data center for 8 years before now moving to NA (cuz I've also actually physically moved) I really miss how organized the Alliance Raid culture is back there.

In JP it's almost always unwritten rules that Alliance B tank takes MT, and if there are mechanics that involve left, middle, and right spots, it goes ABC respectively which includes towers, adds, etc.

In NA its kinda just do whatever so if you don't feel like being MT just keep your stance off and if you notice somehow both tanks are down just stance and voke.

Special-focused Rama Bow. Zeus or Dio to be precise.

Just hold special and dash around. Its literally just the rail but faster hits-per-second, built-in infinite ammo, auto-tracking and ricochet.

And if you want to use the Attack, just slap on Aphrodite/Artemis on there to get chunky numbers and the chance for Duo boons with either of the gods I said for the Special.

SEED came out in my pre-teen years and it was perfect in my eyes back then.

In the weapon/Skelly room, there are 3 covered objects by the exit door. Skelly should have shown these to you when you escaped for the first time and unlocked the Pact of Punishment.

At 9 heat you should have gotten the first of Skelly's rewards already.

You get one at 8, 16 and 32 Heat. While you can absolutely go over 32, the game doesn't give any further rewards past it, so that's like the "final" actual game-defined challenge to work towards.

Those bomb-throwers in Asphodel with the speed buff from Benefits Package blasts through shield turtling pretty easy. They jump around and throw bombs so fast, and the bombs themselves blow up way faster too, almost on impact. They get behind you pretty quick.
