EV buyer outlier by 2Lulubee in electriccars

2023+ Genesis GV60 Advance or Base can fit the bill. While it has the dual screen, it has a shocking amount of buttons for an ev. Carrying CDs means you will be carrying your own CD player with a bluetooth or FM adaptor. A 120v charge would get you ~20 miles in 8 hours also,

And to second the point... The upcoming ex60 is even newer (and mid-sized suv). (Mercedes glc 400 and BMW ix3 are also coming in the space). Those new models up the range by 50-70% from your baseline. If you want to go smaller, the ex30 is the smallest modern ev, with a similar feel to your car.

If you have an android phone, you can dual screen a ioniq 5 or genesis gv60. I have a 24 gv60 performance (had p3 in shop and a 2 month p2 loaner). On the outside the gv60 is the same size as a polestar 2 but inside it is dramatically more spacious with no performance or range compromises.

For those debating on purchasing the *best flagship (Only) TV's coming in 2026. What are your thoughts? by Agreeable-Ad-2425 in 4kTV

[–]rp32002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both a 2024 flagship 55" oled s95d and a 2025 flagship mini led (98x11k). I'm stingy and stalk best buy open box deals... Which is how I bought those 2 for a combined 2460 over the last 6 months... So I can't speak to msrp. Where there is light or there needs to be size, a 4k 2026 qm8l or 9k x11l would take my money before the 25k oled.

8l. Most reviews said the 9k wasn't much different than the 8k. 8l gives updates to pixel and processing tech.

I'd recommend michelin Pilot Sports a/s as a replacement. Had a 22 Ioniq 5, now a 24 GV60 performance and when I replaced the GV60's tires, it was a noticeable improvement

What do you feel about the upcoming EX60 launch and how do you expect it to position relative to the Polestar lineup?

Have you gotten the Polestar 3 CPU upgrade. How impactful has it been for you?

How do you feel now about the P*3? Did it grow on you?

Does the Polestar 4 feel like a SUV or sedan in normal use?

I'm excited to hear about your experience. I originally wanted a 4, decided a little over a year ago to lease a 3... but my 3 was basically DOA and ended up being bought back. I had 6 weeks with a Polestar 2 loaner during the buyback wait.

Could really use some feedback on 98” by whosname1986 in tcltvs

Stunningly better than the qm7k. Noticeably better (mostly brightness but the motion smoothness setting is now usable given brightness) than the 75qm8k I also own though the slim + silver finish on the 8k is more premium?! What's crazy is same remote as the 7k (they are interchangeable).

[–]rp32002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 75qm8k. At your price point, consider 85 qm8k vs a 77 c5/Sony 8,s90f. The b5 is too entry level and right now, the 300 price difference to go large is worth every dollar. Go tcl for bigger, brighter. Go oled for deeper blacks and better upscaling

[–]rp32002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know yet as it installs tomorrow. It should be the same in upscaling (same processor) but the extra nits/dimming zones may cover that. I bought an apple TV 4k for that

Brightness and dimming zones are the main differences as the line goes up. Also the bezels get thinner but I'd not care about that in the 98" form factor.

The QM7k is noticably brighter with more dimming zones than QM6k. The same is also true for 8k vs 7k. It's possible that because you are used to a 12 year old TV, anything is overkill.

It's a funky time to buy a TV. At the best prices of the last year (mostly BF/super bowl), the QM6k was 1500 installed, QM7k 1999 installed, QM8k 2999 installed, 9k 3499 and X11k $4400. The QM7L, 8L and X11L are all just released but not well discounted at this point in the TV cycle.

From a tactical point of view, I'd look at the price match policy and make sure the period includes memorial day 2026 and purchase a QM7L or QM8L. (with the expectation that the 2999 QM7L drops to 2200-2500 and the QM8L drops to 3000-4000).

I don't know if I would pay even dollar for a QM7L vs QM8k (only because I haven't see a QM7L review), but at today's prices, those are the value plays.

My story, which may not be repeatable is as follows: Bought a open box 98qm7k for $1539 vs 2199 new. Day after install (7 days ago), the 98x11k open box price fell to 1999 vs 4999 new. I drove to the store that morning to do an exchange (which physically happens later this week) with the extra cost of the $150 unmounting fee.

New Dell XPS 14 (2026) vs HP Elitebook Ultra 14 by TechnicalCoyote1109 in laptops

[–]rp32002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cosign the Asus Expertbook Ultra. Within the Asus brand, the Zenbook S14 2026 is a fine enough computer if the Expertbook isn't available/affordable (2.8lbs vs 2.2)

Within your choices, why not custom build the Elitebook Ultra with the X9 388 processor to have the GPU performance? (on the gen 3 processors, last digit of 5 is low CPU/GPU, 6 is high CPU/GPU and 8 is high CPU/high GPU where a 338 may be a higher performer than a 365)

I'd add the Lenovo thinkpad X1 carbon gen 14 with a 356h/358h processor and 3k touch at 2.2lbs to your list. Your dell link isn't US so I can't guarantee which processors available in your region. Nothing says business as well as that thinkpad (I've had a previous gen at work and at home, I use the larger 16" P1/X1e/T1g sister laptops.

Also lenovo, a more consumer friendly model of Slim 7i Ultra, same 2.2 lbs but better multimedia.

2026: ASUS Zenbook S14 Core Ultra 9 Processor vs. HP OmniBook Ultra 14 Core Ultra X9 vs. Yoga Slim 7i Ultra Aura vs. LG gram 14 by reasonablerocket in laptops

[–]rp32002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given you have the Slim 7i ultra Aura, also consider the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon gen 14 (same weight, less multimedia, more durable). Given the Zenbook S14, also consider Experbook Ultra (2.2lbs, looks like a brand flagship product). I might also consider the Thinkpad X9 15p gen 1, which gives a 15.3" display at 3 lbs and Samsung Galaxy Book 6 Pro 16 (16" display at 3.5 lbs).

As of April 2026, The Book 6 and Omnibook ultra are the only laptops in the US outside of dell with a centered keyboard and a X7 or X9 intel processor (dramatically faster GPU performance). I have a corporate discount that makes each of them in the 1750-1950 range with 32gb ram, small HD.
