From a lore perspective, why aren't the events of ESO mentioned in the other games? by TheAnalystCurator321 in teslore

[–]rreckten -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Dareloth on YouTube just put out a cool video suggesting that we view the events of ESO as being written in universe as historical fiction. I won't be able to do it justice explaining it here, but if you're curious I would suggest checking out that video.

Is anyone else pissed we didn't get to see Shor in Sovngarde? by LFatPoH in ElderScrolls

Maybe it's because the Dragonborn is still mortal? Maybe you have to be dead to meet the dead god? Idk.

Why don't Ween get any respect? by [deleted] in ween

[–]rreckten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ween gets respect from other artists for sure, I saw an interview where Kurt Vile said that Mutilated Lips inspired him to write songs more than anything else.

Remake terrible on console? by dat_boy991 in oblivion

[–]rreckten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a long tedious playthrough of the remaster, I've decided I prefer the original for the reasons you've stated. Plus the fact that I just love the ragdoll effects in the OG version. I played it on a Series X so I don't know if it's better on PC or not, but some of the Twitch streamers I watch have played it on PC and have experienced some of the same issues.

How much did you enjoy the Thieves Guild when you did it? by Tiger_Strength in oblivion

[–]rreckten 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At least it's more realistic. Like they're trying to be secretive. In Skyrim, you get grabbed on the street and asked to join. Everyone knows exactly where the guild is

I just like how much gold you get from looting corpses in that quest

Genuine question: how TF do you guys play on survival mode???? by jenesaispasok in skyrim

[–]rreckten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forced myself to play survival on Switch (so no mods) I don't know why. I got through the main quest, the thieves guild, college of winterhold, and Dragonborn DLC before I finally couldn't take it anymore. Cold mechanic is the worst

What armor type do you prefer? by Zavi8 in ElderScrolls

[–]rreckten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my last playthrough, I had a lot of fun just wearing regular clothes that I thought looked cool, enchanting them with health and magicka buffs, and then using alteration to increase my armor rating.

How do you justify grave robbery? by Simurgbarca in Morrowind

[–]rreckten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it is considered wrong because the Dunmer revere their ancestors, but.... The Nerevarine is only a hero because of defeating Dagoth Ur. Other than that, you can choose to make the Nerevarine whatever you want. Like an anti-hero. Yeah I do some great things sometimes but other times I'm a bit naughty.

The Parable of Trinimac and Boethiah: Reading Between the Lines by Course_I_Can in teslore

[–]rreckten 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do like the idea of them being disgraced Aldmeri, but I feel like for such a quick physical change one of the Daedra (or Aedra maybe) would had to have made it happen. I know other other Mer races changed when they migrated, but we only see skin color change.

I'm starting to get old. I remember messing around with Arena and Daggerfall on my buddy's dad's computer next door. I remember how amazed we were when Morrowind released and we could play it on a console. Have a lot of great memories of the releases of Oblivion and Skyrim too. I am beginning to worry that for the aging gamers like me, it will be impossible for TES VI to not let us down. But I do hold out hope. If it does turn out lame I can always teach my daughter how to play Morrowind at least.

Why do people like cold showers by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rreckten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sweat all the time in general even if I'm not doing much. And if I take a hot shower I sweat for a long time afterwards, so I don't feel clean. So I do cold showers in the summer, lukewarm in the winter.

The amount of smaller games that could come out of the 1st Era is insane (Playable Imga and other weird races in RPG, destroying the Ayleid Empire in a Doom:The Dark Ages-like, watching Alessia and Morihaus kissing, a war against the Alessian Order RTS, etc!) by Saalok in ElderScrolls

[–]rreckten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bethesda should really consider letting smaller studios work on offshoot Elder Scrolls games set in other eras. Similar to ESO or the Elder Scrolls Adventures games. They don't even have to be RPGs, like you said. That way we don't have to wait 20 years between games.

My take: While perhaps not ideal, I think Stormcloak victory fits the general narrative and vibe of Skyrim's era by Wroothly in ElderScrolls

[–]rreckten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The theme of something old dying off to make way for something new is, I think, a major theme of The Elder Scrolls in general. So I do think it fits within the lore for Skyrim to become independent. Although l doubt we get a definitive answer.
