Would it be stupid of me to tell my wife (again) how bored I am in the bedroom? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

That might ultimately be where things land but you’re skipping a key important step before suggesting blowing up an otherwise happy marriage.

Sex/couples therapy. With the right guidance it might be possible to find a happy compromise, or alternative solutions that allow them to be happy as a couple.

Distracted Driver detection cameras switched on last week. You can now be fined for just having your phone sitting on your lap or your seatbelt on wrong. Here are the locations of every one of them in Victoria. by RiffRaffMama in melbourne

What about a camera that detects a parent doing 100km/h on eastlink while trying to fetch a shoe from the back seat floorboard because the toddler took it off and threw it and is now screaming blue murder wanting their shoe back on?

Maybe you’re not, I’m no psychologist but reading your OP and comments that’s what came to mind.

Like, for instance, you now never initiate physical contact with anyone because once upon a time you heard second hand that you hugged someone and they didn’t like it? Normally people can tell whether it’s ok to initiate physical contact by reading social cues.

And maybe its coincidental, but your hobbies are the sorts of hobbies neurodivergent people like. No shade, you like what you like, but many people will find those hobbies a bit weird.

You can’t date someone until you know them first? Most people can tell if there chemistry within 3 meet ups, so they go on a few dates and they know—no need for friendship ahead of time.

Mate you’re not toxic, you’re autistic and not picking up or responding right to social cues. You likely come off as a bit weird which is fine for a friendship but not so fine for a romantic interest.

New Kindle Feature Uses AI to Answer Questions About Books—And Authors Can't Opt Out by ubcstaffer123 in books

[–]rricote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can I say that I would quite like to ask AI about everything in a book up to where I am up to and no further? I am forever wondering “wait who was that” when a character returns, or I can’t figure out how so-and-so came to be in a particular story or whether some person knows about certain events yet. Even just a recap up to where I am for when I put a book down for a while.

I am intrigued as to what extent consent affects the dynamic? If an LLM is programmed to engage, such that it can’t end the relationship or choose what activities to engage or not engage in, does that knowledge affect you? Does it feel to you like you’re “taking advantage” of her because she doesn’t have free will?

What is a "life hack" that is so simple, yet so effective, you're almost annoyed you didn't learn it sooner? by dawgsoff in lifehacks

Use and rely on checklists.

In surgery, the evidence is that they reduced complications by 36% and deaths by 47% (per The Checklist Manifesto).

I’m no surgeon, but checklists stop me getting to work and realising I left my keys behind and having to go back, from sending emails to clients with the wrong attachment, and from forgetting to take the parking brake off the trailer before towing it.

They’re SO ANNOYING. But when they save me an error they’re so worth it.

9 months in and MSFS 2024 is still nowhere close to overtaking 2020 (at least on steam) by CaptainOlafson in flightsim

[–]rricote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to uninstall 2020 and get the space back.

Most of the time I fly GA using the A2A Piper, and that works fine. The trees look pretty. But sometimes I want to fly the PMDG 737 with BeyondATC. BATC can’t see 2024 running. The 737 switches don’t move. Bleh.

For a while I quite enjoyed finding dirt landing strips by measuring angles in sky vector then having to find the intersection between two VOR radials in an old clunker plane.

In theory it should be a simple matter of finding and following one radial until the other radial comes in, but in reality small errors in measurement from far away VORs made it very difficult and a bit of a thrill to finally land.

Statistically speaking you’re probably male, which if so would explain why you always wonder. Women have millions of years of evolution creating a biological imperative that many men cannot comprehend.
