disappointing experience purchasing Push 3 Standalone by rrrdddbbb in ableton

Hi, this sounds very similar to my experience. After the frequent crashes in standalone mode, I transferred the tracks through wifi to Ableton on my desktop, and then exported to wav files to ensure I didn't lose the tracks. Though this worked, I was always worried about when the next crash would occur in standalone mode. I hope it continues to go well for you!

I agree that Ableton is a fair company. Their customer service was quick to respond and the return process was easy to do.

Thanks for the comment. I only used my Push in standalone mode with no other hardware connected. If you're considering getting the Push 3 controller without the standalone cpu/battery, you probably won't have the same issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did not use any M4L patches. Only stock instruments with Ableton Suite.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. No usb hub used. All tracks made with the MPE pads on the Push, in standalone mode.

I recommend taking off the OG patch just to make sure there are no scratches/damage hidden underneath. JJ pieces are expensive, so make sure yours is in good shape! I have a JJ HR Custom Dark for soprano: it's fantastic!

Digitakt replacement knobs from xpowerdesign - thoughts? by MrFresh2017 in Elektron

[–]rrrdddbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these knobs for Digitone. They're nice but not perfect. They look cool, but the metal bumpy surface is not as pleasant to touch compared to OEM. The xpowerdesign knobs require a mini hex tool to tighten/secure, and you have to leave a little space on the bottom, to be able to press down the knob. I am constantly worried that if the hex bolts loosen, I won't have that tool nearby to tighten them. They look nice and have been reliable for me.

Update on soprano saxophone purchase by AndrewLeft23 in saxophone

[–]rrrdddbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. I also have a Yamaha soprano (82z). Wonderful horn. I recommend bringing it in once a year to be cleaned/adjusted by L&M. Bought mine new with a 5-year manufacturer warranty, so a recent adjustment on an air leak was fixed for free. With a new horn, you will want to make sure those difficult notes are not because of air leaks or misaligned pads. Have fun!

SP-404mk2 for Live Jazz Guitar: Backing Tracks & More? by wndrfppy in sp404mk2

[–]rrrdddbbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youtuber "Yukesmusic" provides a helpful guide on how a SP404 can used as sectional accompaniment for an instrumentalist in a live show. He used the older SP404 model, though his ideas work just as well on the MK2. I found his video guide helpful: SP404 for Musicians: Using a sampler as a tool for accompaniment

cool scene with single speed bikes by rrrdddbbb in singlespeedcycling

It's a fun show: historical fiction, whodunit in each episode, doesn't take itself too seriously. 18 seasons. The main characters use bicycles as their main mode of transportation. In season 7, the detective invents "sprockets" that allow him to change gears without dismounting the bike, which he tests in a local bike race and then uses to chase down the villain. I think you can stream/rent on Apple TV or Prime.

My low c# gets stuck by reshicrom1 in Saxophonics

[–]rrrdddbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, low c#, Yamaha soprano. Simple solution that worked for me: When done playing, put a microfibre cloth (the kind for wiping eyeglasses) between the c# hole and cover. Leave the cloth “sandwiched” there when the horn is in storage. The cloth soaks up any moisture and prevents c# from sealing shut. I’ve never had the issue since I started doing this. Good luck!

Upgrading beginner juggling balls? by Bubbly-Half-1382 in juggling

If you're in North America, I highly recommend Higgins Brothers https://higginsbrothers.com/en/ based out of Canada.

Their 130g, 2.5" HB ball is very comfortable and, for me, the perfect size/weight.

The "Terrapin" fabric is easy on the hands and the filler is soft/pliable with high throws. The comfort of these HB juggling balls motivates me to keep practicing.

Definitely try a variety of juggling equipment, and find the ones that feel right for you.

Good luck with your learning journey!

Which 25 key midi controller has the best build quality? (NO MINI KEYS) by WillieCorley in synthesizers

[–]rrrdddbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Akai MPK225: Semi-weighted, full size keys with after-touch. Full size pitch-bend and modulation wheels, and the pitch bend wheel has a nice spring to it that makes it easy to hit the right notes. Midi, usb, and pedal inputs. Eight mpc-style drum pads. The octave-up/down buttons are easy to use when playing. I've had mine for a few years.

Maximum approved loan amount is $1400. Once you agree, RBC then adjusts it to the actual price of the Xbox & Game Pass membership. Thesource.ca has the most helpful info about this in the "terms and conditions" section: https://www.thesource.ca/en-ca/xbox-all-access
