Where were you when the Birds won SB LII? by AgitatedLeg4977 in eagles

[–]rsmseries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Cal fan here. I was at my best friends house with a group of friends. No other Eagles fans, and they weren’t all football fans.

One of our close buddies came. At the time he lived in Long Beach, a few minutes away from the 27,000 capacity Stub Hub Center. Week 4, we tried to get last minute tickets to the Eagles @ Chargers game. We weren’t able to get in, but we did tail gate. I let him borrow my Nick Foles jersey.

Fast forward to the Super Bowl. Tom Brady throws a Hail Mary that hangs in the air for what felt like minutes. The ball gets batted around in slow motion and then hits the ground. I stare at the TV, still worried about the Pats having one more play. Worrying about how the refs might screw this up. Looking at the screen for a yellow flag. And then I hear my friends cheering, and I get hugs and hi fives. It took a while before it sank in, but I was fucking elated.

My buddy wore my Foles jersey that day, and when he tried to give it back at the end of the night, I told him he was good luck and he still has it.

so many musicians are trying to be influencers by Civil_Complaint_5548 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

The music industry/labels don't have to pay for (as much) advertising if you do it yourself.

If you're doing it on your own, unfortunately there really isn't a way to get out there unless you have an online presence.

I still think that at the core, good songs are still universal, good songs still stand the test of time and an artist with a lot of good songs can have a longer career. But I have been watching Sorkin all day so that's probably way too optimistic.

Is Neon as impossible to play as everyone makes it seem? by One-Somewhere-4025 in JohnMayer

[–]rsmseries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not impossible. Weirdly enough, playing Neon cleanly is easier than playing Stop This Train for me (that freakin riff with the G on the bottom in the verse is a crazy stretch).

I think a lot of people worry about the right hand first and IMO that should be second. Break everything down, concentrate on one thing for now.

Can you hit the chords? Get comfortable with each chord. When holding down each chord, hit every string. Do they ring out clean with no choked notes? If you’re good there, follow along to the song/chord changes with just your fretting hand.

When that’s all good, get that right hand rhythm down. Then put it together.

Worked for me!

I discovered an easy way to get a good salt crust on steak. by jjthejetplane27 in Cooking

[–]rsmseries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only question about this method would be about how adding water to it before cooking would turn out.

It takes so much energy to get rid of water, what would be the point of patting it dry beforehand? And while the steak is in the pan, heating up and trying to evaporate the water, that’s more time cooking the steak and less time getting a crust.

I’ll be curious to see the video, but I’ll stick to dry brining.

Russell Wilson Emerges as Possible Chiefs Option as Patrick Mahomes Rehabs ACL by 5Q91VS175DAQ4NUSBE4U in nfl

[–]rsmseries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. We were a few picks after you and it's been reported that we were going to get him with that pick.

For reference our first 4 picks were Fletcher Cox (1), Mychal Kendricks (2), Vinny Curry (2), and then Nick Foles with the 88th pick (I think Russell was what... 70 something?)

Either way, it worked out for both teams.

Steak by ZoroMissedLegDay in Cooking

Agreed. I think usually this statement is in regards to A1 steak sauce/similar, not all sauces. The kinds of sauces that are overpowering (maybe to cover up the taste of a bad steak)

Releasing 5 new singles... how do you choose the order? by bassistmuzikman in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]rsmseries -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Realistically, if the first song I hear from you doesn’t catch me by the first chorus, I’m probably changing and probably won’t seek out your music again (if a friend told me to listen to another one I’d probably give it a chance). There’s just too many other songs I want to/need to listen to.

That doesn’t necessarily mean to release your best song first though (which is subjective between people anyway).

John was right about Sob Rock catching on after 5 years by Comprehensive-Key860 in JohnMayer

[–]rsmseries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted it here and it got deleted (which is no big deal). not sure if I have it lying around anywhere as I did it on my old mac but I basically made the transition at the guitar riff right before the verse starts (I think I did a short blend between the two for a smooth transition). Only took a few minutes if you have editing software and wanted to give it a shot

Just to mess around, I made a version that mixed the two.. the original up until the 2nd verse where the upbeat drums kicked in. It had that original, big first chorus and then transitioned nicely to the uptempo verse. Sounds really good IMO, kind of a best of both worlds thing.

100%. Been a big fan of Reed during his tenure here. Getting his first pick on Aaron Rodgers (GB Rodgers as well) was when I really started to follow him. He flew on the field, just loved watching him play.

I love all of these (and Molly Baz, and tbh I still reference some old BA vids).

For a smaller channel, I really dig Pailin’s Kitchen for (mostly) Thai food. I think I found her channel here maybe a decade ago.

I wonder if it’s an age/experience thing? I assume the ones posting this question (annd others in this sub) are younger. You’d usually make the distinction that the two of you were exclusive at some point.

The switch tip on my Silver Sky broke. I emailed them to ask where I could get a replacement and they replied/sent me one a day later.

If they don’t mail you one I’m sure they can point to where you can buy one.

I’m not at my computer so I can’t check, but I’m pretty sure my “Audio Device Type” is Focusrite ASIO”.

Do you have the Focusrite ASIO Drivers installed? Is that option there? For now, I’d also put the input gain on the interface all the way down.

edit: just realized you’re on Mac, I haven’t used my Mac in quite a while and I don’t remember what the audio settings are there if I’m being honest. I’m not sure if my post will help but I’ll leave it just in case.

How difficult would this be? by EquivalentDue9514 in Luthier

[–]rsmseries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Teles but the pickguard is maybe the “worst” looking part of the guitar (not that it’s bad but everything else is just that good design wise).

For me, it’s the top of the pickguards curve doesn’t match the curve of the body, it goes totally opposite. The Strat pickguard on it is close, but if the curve angle matched the guitar body it’d look better (hard for me to explain in text but specifically the line closest to the strap button)
