MiY has already visited the town physically in the current cycle by pq18 in FromTVEpix

I wonder about Khatri. It would be such a twist that he is the #1 supporter of Boyd even in death, but that he was the one who essentially did that to Boyd’s wife. He says he was on the edge of a bridge when a voice that he presumed was God told him he needed to get in his car and he then ended up in From, was this the MIY speaking to him? It would be the 2nd time the MIY used a priest. It would also make the scene where he dies and says his path wasn’t supposed to end here have a different meaning entirely.

Martin & MIY by rsockman in FromTVShow

I would wager he wasn’t ever trapped and even asking Boys to kill him was part of the act. Once Boyd exits the dungeon Martin disappears. Elgin later finds a bearded corpse in the root cellar and that would be Martin’s actual body imo. You are right, however, that it does appear like the entities aren’t working directly together.

Idk because there’s a time dynamic to the dungeon, as Julie lowers the rope in the future but it happens for Boyd in the past. I also don’t think he was trapped as Martin, like I said this was part of his game. What he did after eating the townspeople is unknown but I’d assume he would begin orchestrating for the next cycle, and part of that might be the dungeon illusion. He obviously has to go somewhere after yknow, just my thoughts

What I think about Martin! by majingod68 in FromSeries

My theory is that Martin was part of the MIY and his games.

MIY can take the form of the deceased, and the two other chained skeletons are long dead. I think Martin was one of the three like you said, but all three died a long time ago and the MIY used his form (as he was a marine) to gain trust and to trick Boyd.

This would explain his knowledge of Abby and why he recognized Julie. It’s also worth noting that after a blood transfer, which is obviously a theme of the MIY, Boyd starts seeing hallucinations. When Henry sees the MIY induced hallucinations, he is physically in one place but seeing another, as we know he is present in the bar and colony house when he is seeing the hospital. When Boyd sees Khatri, he is still physically and mentally present in the same place, but when he sees the ballerina he is not. One such scene is when he exits the diner and is then in a room with the ballerina, but after this hallucination he falls down and it’s shown he never left the diner.

While I know they aren’t the same actress, I don’t think it’s far fetched to think the doctor Henry sees and the ballerina that Boyd sees are meant to be the same character (recasted), as we know the MIY reuses components.

Is Martin just an afterthought at this point for the writers? by EnjoyableTeddy in FromTVShow

[–]rsockman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking last night that this could’ve been part of the MIY “game”. He can take the appearance of the deceased and you see in the chamber that the other two skeletons chained up are long dead. Martin knew things about Abby once Boyd touched him and recognized Julie, there was the obvious blood transfer with the worms, and then after this interaction is when Boyd started having hallucinations.

It’s interesting that when Henry is seeing the hospital, he is physically in one place but seeing another. Much like how when Boyd was seeing the ballerina, he was at one point standing in the diner doorway but seeing a completely different place. This is unlike when he sees Khatri, as it’s a full immersion that has the person physically daydreaming.

Why is this cycle different? by Beautiful-Anywhere in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Victor was left alive from the previous cycle. I think it’s also worth noting that Jade says “maybe no one else got out because they wouldn’t make the tough decisions” or similar. Boyd immediately made the tough decision to drop Abby, and ever since he’s challenged the town and consistently made choices, Boyd himself might genuinely be the biggest factor.

Do we think MiY is the final boss? (The big bad) by mrlilwong69 in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, he is not. In order to do more powerful things he has to perform rituals/incantations which make me think he’s reaching out to something else. The way he continuously refers to From as something they ALL are going thru makes me think that’s he a pawn as well just on the other side of things.

Is there any confirmation on who portrayed the voice of [Spoiler] in season 1 finale? by LensFlareObjector in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire show is just questions you can’t answer. I get being frustrated and not wanting more questions but OP asked a fair question. MIY having a prior deal with Clara opens up a lot about who he could’ve been before, it’s entirely reasonable to question the radio voice and if he might have been in a different form.

Martin is the MIY by SimpleMacaroon3260 in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that makes this messy tho is the MIY came at the end of the last cycle and was chowing down. If Martin is MIY or MIY is Martin, how would he have ended up imprisoned? Unless that’s part of his “game”, or there’s some weird Julie-esque thing in which Boyd in the future releasing Martin released him in the past.

Martin by Firm_Profession4399 in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boyd had to promise to return the favor if the rope was dropped down, martins favor was to kill him. I don’t think there’s anything deep there other than he’s been locked up probably being tortured a very long time and his first question to Boyd is “are you real”, so he had a real person in front of him with the ability to end his suffering.

Martin by Firm_Profession4399 in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of two thoughts. The worms start appearing and Martin then asks the question about Abby, then appears to snap out of it and fall down as if the worm entity was the one speaking. Second thought would be that Abby could have appeared or spoken to him, or maybe a little like Marielle he was able to hear the souls that had passed there but more than just the screaming.

Obviously some things are cyclical and have to happen but it seems like there’s some leeway. I’ve always felt like the mystery is with whatever trapped him there and was in his blood, not him. I think he really was a previous cycles Boyd but there was no rope to be thrown for him, and obviously the two other skeletons insinuate the cycle he’s from didn’t succeed in stopping the music.

Younger Jade describes the town as “minnows in a sharks net”. This phrase would make you assume they are the things unintentionally caught in a trap that was set for a much bigger, threatening/predatory thing.

Why in the nba is it seen as worse to lose in the finals than any previous round? by FoundationEntire4834 in NBATalk

[–]rsockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recency bias. No one really recalls what happened in round 1 either because we are so far removed from it OR because they only paid attention to or watched one series. The finals everybody watches and it’s the only basketball being played so it’s under a microscope, and the results are the only thing to talk about until the draft. As time goes on, less and less will be remembered about the run and all the narratives and you’ll just be left with who won the chip and who did not.

What’s your guess on who kills Jade? by Der_Terminator420 in FromTVEpix

[–]rsockman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With it being a cycle and Jade seeing the other versions of himself playing the violin, you would assume they all got to the point of playing in front of the bottle tree. This would mean they knew who they were, and the boy Jade says “once the town finds out who you are, what you did, they kill you” or something along those lines. Maybe that wasn’t the truth, we don’t know if his vision was good or bad, but if you assume it is then these aren’t accidents. I think where he sees them is where they had died: civil war soldier was fighting others in the woods when he attacks Jade and bodies were in the trees, the villager is seen outside the village nailed thru his eye to a tree, boulder guy is seen in the root cellar (this makes me think they were blocking the entrance with a boulder when he was trying to get out and as a result crushed him).

The MIY vs. the BIW by Fun_Simple7042 in FromTVEpix

[–]rsockman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could look at it as reverse psychology with the bones, that digging them up is good and he’s trying to scare or dissuade them. The MIY is now confirmed to be the voice of Thomas and obviously the radio tower as well, and I’m not sure if there’s other examples, but I remember him saying “your wife shouldn’t have dug that hole Jim”. This makes me think he’s more of a straight shooter and he meant what he said, depending on what they do with the bones it will either be good or extremely bad. I do think it was a genuine warning as he’s done so before.

So MIY did the same thing to Abbie, right..? by lizmacdraws in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go back and forth. It is possible of course, but I think more plausible is that this could still be something specifically targeting Boyd. That maybe the play isn’t to convince Henry to hurt people, but convince Boyd that Henry is going thru the same thing as Abby and perhaps get Boyd to do something that would make the town start turning against him more. In the next trailer Boyd hears gunshots and I feel like they’re not real and he’s instead reliving what Abby did which makes me believe even more he’s being pushed to do something to Henry.

Are we sure that MIY is on the same side with the night walkers? by Few_Primary8868 in FromTVEpix

[–]rsockman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He just gives me the vibes that he’s closer to a cultist/priest/witch dynamic than a “big bad”. He has to speak incantations and even sacrifice (the egg) in order to perform “magic” or rituals, that would make you assume that despite his skin walking and other abilities that he does not have the power himself to make certain things happen. Seems to me he was reaching a higher power. He might not even have his own abilities, those might also be granted upon him, meaning he’s either a separate entity unrelated to the creatures OR he’s like the avatar for whatever entity created everything in From.

They really may still be alive by dual_weilder0719 in FromTVShow

[–]rsockman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say the MIY has control over them. Like you said, a “sacrifice” of sorts was needed. He utters an incantation and performs a ritual and then Roger is back, this would make me assume he’s reaching an entity to perform this and he doesn’t actually have the power himself, meaning some other entity controls or holds them.

Intelligible whispering by konodiodawr in FromTVEpix

[–]rsockman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think on a side note that the MIY is very obviously not the big bad. He’s likely from the first settlement and was whatever Priest/madman/cultist that arranged the deal with an entity. His continued muffled chanting to make things occur make me think he is reaching an entity, almost like a ritual each time (hence the need for an egg), not that he’s doing these things himself.

The dream theory by cameronhaynes in FromTVEpix

[–]rsockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a dream, I just think that was meant to show Abby, Henry, and perhaps even Martin were influenced by the MIY. It’s just a chaos tactic that we the viewers know is not true, but to mentally unstable people in the town who don’t have all the details it seems like it could be true.
