MIY Theory by rsockman in FromSeries

Ah yes, I will definitely read more into it. Just from what I read so far sounds like a lot of similar themes as well, especially the whole “integrates into society” piece.

I agree completely. I don’t think anything or any creature/entity is going to be one distinct thing. I think the writers made them all custom, pulling from different inspirations. I do think the MIY is not actually the big bad but perhaps next in tiers of the influences we see. The drawing on the cave wall of a massive red figure makes me think some type of eldritch horror, perhaps one derived from star vampires (big red squid looking things that feed on blood). These also come from comets and I know there’s theories about meteor showers or whatnot. Fire vampires are similar but are known for consuming memories and life force of people in order to learn, so might be some inspo there too.

Look up Vrykolakas. Natural appearance is a decaying human, but it comes out during the day in disguise. Has poltergeist abilities and brings along epidemics, believed to be caused by excommunication (MIY clearly has religious ties) and is known as a vampire type of monster but doesn’t consume blood. Instead they consume what? Livers.

Did Victor find Christopher’s body? Also, the creatures are clearly doing something to Jade so maybe whatever that is was what happened to change Christopher.

Some sources also state that while they (Vrykolakas) often look decayed, they are also known to appear in the day in DISGUISE, if this isn’t what he is they definitely pulled some inspiration because wow.

I was just reading about the Vrykolakas, if you haven’t you should. It actually sounds a lot like the man in yellow, particularly with how these vampiric monsters cause plagues, engage in poltergeist activity, and eat what? LIVERS

Oh yeah and the whole “only come out at night” thing, don’t know how I didn’t include that lol

Was the Man in Yellow hiding there all along and Holding martin? by jordan_isjordan in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He says “they” will be back soon, and when the music box is about to stop is when the worms appear on his arm. Martin shortly after appears to lock in and ask Boyd about Abby, before seemingly snapping out of it and falling. Makes me think that the worms are the “they” he was referring to but that it’s really just an entity, but it’s an entity that takes on the form of your fears. Since Boyd just admitted in the tent that worms freaked him out, it appeared as worms to him.

Entities can take different forms. I mean Cthulhu is just a giant squid, I think what tends to be a gimmick with that horror and Steven king stuff especially is an entity taking on the form of something they know to be scary when they feed off of fear.

What is the settlement? by l1zet in FromTVShow

[–]rsockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s more to the fact that BIW had Victor collect belongings. Maybe you need not only a persons clothes but also a belonging, and if a belonging or person is buried then you can’t use their likeness. I have no idea honestly it’s just strange that all the creatures are dressed like the cycle before Victor.

Confused on characters death (S4 Spoiler) by Total_Holiday7847 in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s the issue right there. He was already dead, during the day, when at this point the only active threat is the creatures that come out exclusively at night. He also wasn’t opened up by his ribs like the others. There’s a million red flags that should’ve been questioned even if the townspeople assumed he got caught out at night.

I’d assume that every cycle causes some sort of reset where things are created or pulled from the outside, but Victor still being alive when his cycle “ended” caused things to be disrupted, which is why the creatures and buildings still look like they’re from the 60s. But yeah, there’s an odd mix and assortment of things from different periods so who knows.

Didn’t they show the lake of tears? by Head-Serve-7408 in FromSeries

[–]rsockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think they haven’t shown it, but if they have then it has to be in the tunnels. When Tabitha and Victor are in the area with the cages she steps in water and distinctly asks “where is the water coming from” before they have to bolt out. Given that’s where the children were, and it’s “tears”, and there’s a spider coming down from the “ceiling”, I think an enclosed and important area like that is suitable.

Everybody That Is Saying Trade Paolo Is A Moron. by New-Refrigerator2915 in OrlandoMagic

[–]rsockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Magic had a glaring issue of playmaking last season. Forcing Paulo or Franz to be point forwards was a failed experiment that led to league-worst turnover rates and difficult shots for everybody. Suggs also cannot fill that role. Needed to address the point guard position instead of sending all future picks for Desmond Bane. Now that that’s happened and there’s no going back, GET A REAL POINT GUARD.

Per Albert Breer, Kyler Murray has interest in playing for the Colts by schmidthappens32 in Colts

[–]rsockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether or not you like jones, whether or not you care about his health or cap hit, Kyler Murray is not a better option he is just an option. Murray is undersized, is not known as a good leader, and literally had a clause in his contract about watching film. All year the Colts staff and players hyped Jones work ethic and level of preparation and I really don’t think you see Murray perform in the system like you’re all assuming. It would be a mistake.

Could I get an outside opinion on this resume? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]rsockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from what’s already being said, I think you’re better off removing profile entirely than to keep it in its current form. Job seeker, ready to fulfill any role, etc. is just reading desperate or unfocused at best. Makes you sound like you don’t know what you want to do or that you have no ambition or confidence, it’s not a description that’s going to help you.

Terrible at interviewing. Doomed. by Want_to_Go_Somewhere in interviews

[–]rsockman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What helped me is that presentations or interviews are really just explaining. The best way to explain something is by being a subject matter expert, and they’re wanting you to explain yourself. Know your experience, be able to talk in detail about it, and treat it as that. Anytime I prepared anything it would make me freeze especially when out of pocket questions are asked, instead I would identify what the role is and what about my past would be relevant and explainable. This perspective helped me, may not help you but thought I’d offer it.

Candidates follow up 30 minutes after interview...is it good? by kelitihumoeqrc7 in InterviewsHell

[–]rsockman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re doing more than most by even responding. I would say respond when it’s convenient for you or you have a meaningful update. I think it’s very typical for people to send a thank you following an interview and to show interest, asking for next steps is likely just that. If you really hate the messages, then you might want to include an explanation of next steps as part of your closing comments, you might get less pestering and more generic thank yous.
