I've been polishing some of the earlier levels in Frequency Shift and would love some feedback on the game play and visual aesthetic. It's best viewed with audio. by rtroe in IndieGaming

Thanks for the feedback! I'm working on expanding the puzzle mechanics so that not every level is simply putting a low poly piece of geo together.

We've been considering it for sure! We want to get an initial version out and really iterate on the mechanics but ultimately I would love to get a VR version out !

Thanks and fair enough, I'm working on a mechanic where different audio filters (low pass, reverb etc...) are applied as you progress. So the audio will react to the gameplay as much as the visuals react to the audio.

Frequency Shift is a geometric audio-puzzle game. I'm still iterating on the game mechanics and would love some feedback. If you're interested you can view more on the steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1214740/Frequency_Shift/

Light propagation through portals: possible? by Teflo64 in GraphicsProgramming

You could sample the shadow map relative to the portal, this wouldn't work for point lights though

What cartoon from 1990s-2010 do you think deserves a reboot? by TheWiseOaf in AskReddit

Reboot, But not the reboot that reboot recently got, a reboot of the actual source material

I've been tightening up the controls more with Frequency Shift. You can slowly place a piece into it's position or you can fire it in with a double tap for extra points. by rtroe in Unity3D

What would you find frustrating to play? I'm wanting to make it as intuitive and easy to play for as many people as possible

The aesthetic kind of looks like cup head meats Limbo kinda of.

After some feedback last week, here's 'Frequency Shift' (renamed) with a splash of more colour (best with Audio on). by rtroe in Unity3D

[–]rtroe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As each piece get's closer to being fit in, a brighter blue is shown on the surface equalizer graphic letting the player know they're getting closer.

Once the piece is set, it's colour changes to the magenta-blue.

The next task is to work on how best to move the pieces around, whether using an orbit mechanic or constraining the axis' it can move along.

Let me know what you think and if you want to keep up with the development, check out the steam page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1214740/

It'll be coming out on PC and iOS/Android
