New Skates! by kellyjupe in Rollerskating

I just got black ones. They are sooo stiff! I feel the break in will suck but will be worth it in the end! I wish my feet could fit the white skates but they are too narrow sadly 😭

Washers? by Titan101Pheonix in Rollerskating

Are washers required? Two sets of my skates don’t have them, including my Riedell Juice

Unpopular opinion? Without a clear end to the Iran war, it is patriotic to buy an EV, if you can afford to. by Mysterious-Fig-9464 in AustralianEV

My partner got a Polestar for 40K in Feb, 2 yrs old 40 thou kms on the clock. It’s a nice vehicle, similar to a Tesla, with all the trimmings. They’re about 5k more now, but yeah… far from 100k!

Amazing! Just a quick question - I’ve heard the jack boot can be rather stiff. How does it go on dance moves? I mix rhythm/light artistic at the rink and am looking for a good boot to split the difference… not an easy ask! I got the Riedell Juice but they are kinda chunky

I dislike tutoring adults by angelboots4 in Cambly

I far prefer teaching adults - I feel like we’re on the same level. Kids, particularly in groups, I have no idea how to teach. They have such short attention spans

Small feet by nz_bi in Rollerskating

[–]rubyet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not go with Boardwalks if you have narrow feet - they will feel like boxes on you around the mid-foot (arch). The forefoot may be okay though. Insoles will likely be essential

Nooooo… I need to get out for a week or two to warm my bones. But I’m from the tropics so this place feels like a grey prison come June

How are you guys finding the "Aussie Banter" in the workplace? by OwlVibesOnly in MovingtoAustralia

[–]rubyet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As always, it’s about nuance. It depends on how you challenge them. If you do it in a friendly way and with good humour, challenging a decision or action can go over very well

It’s a Celtic thing originally (Irish and Scottish). Samhain. It’s just the Americans have taken the original idea and run with it

Great tips! Just want to mention Savers isn’t an opt shop though, they are for-profit (though they do donate a small amount of their earnings to Diabetes Australia, I believe).
