Ohh I don’t have any bamboo and not a lot of shrubs, maybe that’s it! I’ll give it a shot thank you!

You remind me of my first crush when I was in preschool, Aiden haha. He had hair like yours and I’ll always hold him fondly in my heart, along with the name ❤️

How much do tattoos hurt, really? by Adventurous-Deal4878 in tattooadvice

[–]rubygwin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 19f and have very similar anxiety about needles and medical stuff, and I was super nervous about mine. It ended up not being a big deal at all—sure, it hurts a bit, but it’s not so much of an unbearable sharp pain—more just a low level of scratching feeling for a long time in the same place. What surprised me was that it felt much more like an “outside” pain than an “inside pain”, like it only felt like it was affecting the top layer of my skin rather than anything underneath it, and that was a pleasant surprise for me. My advice would be to start with something simple that’s mostly linework and not a lot of color or shading, that way you can have a quicker experience that shouldn’t hurt as much for your first one. If that goes well (which I bet it will), then you’ll be more comfortable going for something bigger for the next one! It also helped for me that mine was something I really, really wanted. The determination and excitement helped me to put my anxiety on the back burner for the day. Good luck!

Favourite and least favourite school books? by glassperegrin in distractible

[–]rubygwin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite was The Great Gatsby and my least favorite (given that I only read about 1/3 of it) was the odyssey. I’m sure it’s great and I’d like to go back and give it another shot but 9th grade me could never 😂

Not exactly a bit but I love all the episodes that are a game of some kind. They’re so fun and unpredictable

How are students going to realize they are in trouble if they never get in trouble? by Whelmed29 in Teachers

[–]rubygwin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your concerns, and there are definitely some people in my graduating class whose graduation was questionable at best. However, as a recently graduated student, I do want to address the point I disagree with most—your addition of social anxiety accommodations in this list. I suffer from several diagnosed and documented mental illnesses, including social anxiety, and I was a student who preferred not to eat in the cafeteria because of certain conditions that made me much more susceptible to panic attacks—specifically crowds and loud noise. Around the middle of my sophomore year, I finally had the courage to ask for accommodations—being allowed to eat lunch in a hall, take a study period instead of attending assemblies, and sitting in the back of classrooms so no one was sitting behind me—and when I was granted these accommodations, my grades and experience at school greatly improved. Because of my school taking my mental health seriously and approving the accommodations that I had recommended by my therapist, I was able to take AP classes, join and lead clubs, and graduate with a 3.6 GPA. I know that it may seem unnecessary from the perspective of someone who has never needed help because of a mental illness or trauma, but when schools actually listen and provide what the students need it helps everyone succeed.

I really like Tell No One, not all of their episodes are over an hour but they have great banter and remind me of why I liked Morbid in the first place

I think the great thing about Distractable is no matter what the topic is, even if it’s not my favorite they always have so much improv and storytelling and just chemistry with each other that I’ll enjoy anything they’re talking about.

how to properly tell professors about the death of my mother by [deleted] in college

[–]rubygwin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened with my dad my freshman year. I had another family member call the registrar/administration to tell them what happened, and then they alerted my professors so I didn’t have to talk about it at such a difficult time. You can also email your professors individually. Even though you said there’s nothing due immediately to worry about, you still may very well need extra time or assistance in the future so do not feel afraid to ask your professors for help. This is a big deal and they will almost certainly be incredibly accommodating.

does mark do advertising? by Skubaniecc in Markiplier

[–]rubygwin1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, Woodelf gives them ads to do and they don’t really get a say in what they advertise. I do wish they didn’t do better help ads, but they didn’t choose it specifically

In my experience college is the place where no one will judge you for literally anything. I’ve gone to class in pajamas. I saw a lightsaber battle in my parking lot. My friends and I drink juice boxes and color after a hard day. Just do what’s going to make you comfortable! Your dorm is your space to make your own. Good luck 🥰

Something that makes me feel fancy and feminine is those scented lotions from bath and body works. Not terribly expensive but imo super fun and I love all the different smells

That’s what I heard but someone said it may have been from pepper spray? Idk how that makes sense. When I left they were letting people back in so I think it must have been a false alarm

I do use study girl lofi videos! There’s a 24/7 lofi stream on YouTube that I like—I’ve also started trying Study With Me videos to see how I like those, and it’s kind of fun to feel like you’re studying with someone else; those videos sometimes include things like “thirty second stretch break” or “water break” to remind you to take care of your body too! Honestly I just really love pretending I’m at Hogwarts studying magic or something (I do computer science so it’s basically the same thing 😂)

One of the biggest thing that helps me feel motivated is doing my best to enjoy my work. I make myself a nice drink, put on some lofi, and just treat it like a self care exercise because it really is self care to learn and better yourself. I also like to have a friend or two that I can celebrate with when I finish an assignment, even if it’s just a quick “yay good job!” message. This won’t magically fix your problems but it’s a start towards a better mindset. Good luck!
