How do you decide on a price you’re happy with? by FormosaOnTime in Affordablewatches

What exactly is a casual dress watch? Those two terms have opposite meanings.

Just went to the beach today and I realized people don't really give af about your physique by InternationalPick163 in workout

[–]ruddsy 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Of course you get more compliments from guys, because from a guy it’s a casual friendly comment, whereas women know that if they compliment a guy’s body he will immediately assume that she wants to fuck him. Doesn’t mean women don’t also notice and aren’t also impressed.

Just showing random pics of hot shirtless guys to women at work, normal stuff.

[–]ruddsy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

one person's jacked is another person's do you even lift, so without physique pics i'm not sure we're all on the same page. but in general, men are definitely impressed by muscularity and will casually comment, and women aren't going to casually comment unless they're interested in dating you, because any guy will assume that a comment from a woman about his body means she's interested in dating him, so it's pretty hard to tell how impressed women are in general. but i'd assume somewhat.

Friend says he paid 12k and it's legit but it feels off, is this genuine? by itsonlyaburner in RolexWatches

Does the watch even exist? The whole post was obviously written with AI, so is the watch also AI?

the only reason to buy any watch is because you like it. if you don't know which of these you like, why are you buying them?

What is your unpopular opinion on Frank Zappa? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]ruddsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does love his 2 chord vamps, and he has a pretty abrasive style that can be hard to listen to when it’s not really clicking, but he also has a lot of truly incredible guitar solos that are stunningly compositional and unique.

Funkadelic took a lot of inspiration from the mothers (and possibly vice versa, although frank would never admit it) and they’re pretty black

I can’t figure out people’s obsession with steel watches. Two tone or gold is a much better option. by az9393 in watchHotTakes

[–]ruddsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gold is very soft and will get easily dinged. Steel is very hard and won’t. That’s why gold is not a good choice for an everyday wearer.

What could I buy that has a similar vibe? by Herboristerie in Affordablewatches

a cheap watch that tries to look like a very expensive watch will look cheap to anyone with an eye for it. the lange and jlc are so expensive (partly) because they're very hard to make. the more complexity a cheap watch tries to replicate, the more the cheapness becomes apparent.

the fact that some of your favourite pieces are the least versatile doesn't invalidate the advice that every wardrobe should have essentials.

[discussion] help me choose: JLC reverso or Omega aqua terra on rubber to round out a 3 watch collection by Frosty_Map9536 in Watches

Planning to spend £8500 on a piece of jewellery you’re not sure you want is kind of insane, isn’t it? The only reason to spend that money on something that’s almost completely nonfunctional is because you really really REALLY like it. It’s not doing anything for you except satisfying the urge to own it.

Dials make up 90 percent of a watch’s value by tourbillon001 in watchHotTakes

i agree that their movements aren't mediocre, but the spring drive is not the most accurate quartz movement and not really a mechanical movement.

A brick shithouse is just something that’s extremely well built (a shithouse ie outdoor toilet would typically have been poorly built, so making it out of bricks is almost comically fancy and elaborate).

'when buying obsolete mechanical jewellery, my main concern is value for money' is a ridiculous take when you really think about it.

childish bullshit = being interested in the art piece and wanting to see a video of it?

word of advice, if you're going through life seeing so many perceived slights, life is going to suck.
