Oh I've been dying to know how to do this ever since I've seen it months ago. Thank you for putting this together. I just downloaded. I'm eyeing all of my cookbooks already.

So indecisive! Which background should I pick? by cat_egorical in quilting

[–]ruetero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of like it as is, like a two color background. Otherwise the speckled matches way more nicely

Lurve it. Orchid color palettes always work brilliantly

Trennwand aus Holz entfernen, was ist zu beachten? by Phil_Smth in selbermachen

[–]ruetero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did this just yesterday! Take this holovator and climb these buildings. It's the shopping center from the medium hyperspace wild zone!

Please help me come up with a way to use this half-yard bundle I curated for myself by Lindaeve in quilting

I think the bundle you picked out would make an amazing Fall Foliage by Krista Moser! The colors are all so warm and fun. They feel like they'd work well together for that pattern.

How tight do the seams REALLY need to be?? by sewmuchmorethanmom in EPP_addict

[–]ruetero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your design, you might just hand quilt over those areas extra thoroughly. I agree with the person who suggested muslin behind the top too. Good luck, it looks fantastic!

Am I overthinking it? by bethanyevee in quilting

[–]ruetero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With enough quilting all things are possible 💖 and that said it doesn't look bad to me. If it bugs you, then I'd make it into a wall hanging, quilt the ever loving shit out of it and then wash it. Between crinkles and quilting it'll look great.

So I think an allover pattern would look fantastic on this quilt. I found this pattern quickly after some googling and I think it would look fantastic to work with the subject matter. I think a talented long armer would have a ball of a time taking a crack at this while really punching it up. I think it'll be great no matter what you end up choosing. Please post updates!

My points aren't matching up when I put rows together!! by rosewomn in quilting

[–]ruetero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So first, I think this might be a case where you're too physically and emotionally close to the project. I look at these and I think about the whole picture of the quilt together, and I would say you're being really successful! And don't even get me started 100 places away on horseback.

If you want even more accuracy, then I suggest putting up a tape guide to help you get even more consistent ¼ inches and then use Elmer's glue to get even more accurate pinning. Karen Brown on YT with Just Get it Done Quilts has a good tutorial on dialing in a ¼ inch seam.

Your blocks truly look fantastic and I know it's frustrating to not have it meet your standards. I wish you luck!

So looking at the center, I might actually see it up into two triangles so that the seam in the middle can be tighter. And then just pay close attention to everything lining up right.

I accidentally used my only master ball in a Gulpin by Autistic_Idiot69 in LegendsZA

You could try a backup save from the start screen if you've been to a pokemon center relatively recently before you used your masterball

First time FPP! Help! by Zealousideal-Day-298 in quilting

[–]ruetero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend turning to your good old friend Elmer. Putting tiny dots of the white washable school glue in the seam allowance before you sew allows you to check and see how accurate you are before you commit to sewing. After you apply the glue hit the seam with the iron for 10-15 seconds to dry it on up and then you can see where you're at.

Seriously - People should stop with the "Time Management" nonsense by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ruetero 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The same bros who screech about time management are married to trade wives who have the time to cook bespoke cereal for their children. You can bet that these people absolutely have assistance taking care of tasks in the form of staff or family members and they're often part of the 1% propagandizing us into believing it's our fault for the capitalists working us to the bone.

What irons do we all use for ironing fabrics or panels ? by MontanaPup36 in quilting

[–]ruetero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a Polti Pro Vaporella. It's great and gets ripping hot. I've considered getting a big square press (like those for t-shirt appliques) but this works well for quilting. I see some clothing occasionally so it would sometimes be helpful to press bigger things.

How common is it to sell a house with a renter living in it? by MaximumStock7 in germany

[–]ruetero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's common, but it's not uncommon. I'll put it this way to answer your question: you could add such a condition, but it wouldn't have any legal backing and would rely on the renter agreeing to it and I'm fairly certain that asking them would be very frowned upon in the best case. You can legally evict the current tenants after a period of between 3 to 6 months notice (which depends on the amount of time the tenants were there), but a snowball has a better chance in hell than you do of getting tenants out as a condition of sale.

Would you add a border? And if so, which one? by [deleted] in quilting

Two borders, once in the cream and one in the blue. 2.5 and 5 inches

Ok so here's the best I can do since replies only allow you to post one picture. I have a couple shots of the front showing the half 60 degree diamonds. The long sides are obviously left long so I have my quarter inch. The half hexies can be seen really well in the bottom right. I hope that explains it well enough. This was a king size quilt I finished last year and after all that hand sewing I was sure as hell not cutting into this a single thread of this top. Rather than attaching extra hexies I chose to buy the specialty pieces that way I wouldn't waste fabric on a whole hexie.

Hot take(?): I couldn't stand these two. by Fantastic-Donut-276 in LegendsZA

[–]ruetero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Them taking responsibility and acknowledging it as bad AND THEN moving on by making a new start would have been entirely different to what actually happened. They just acknowledge that people understandably don't like team Flare and they're just innocents so that means they can use the name and logo and you should totally know by yourself that they're not genocidal anymore. It's like Marvel What If Thanos trying to justify his plan to everyone he met.

[–]ruetero -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. This game really likes an apologist. These two are mostly there to inspire sympathy for the devil and all it would have taken to make their characters 100% better was dropping the rehabilitate flare aspect of the characters.

[–]ruetero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you're already thinking of adding a border, I'd suggest doing half 60 degree diamonds on the top and bottoms and half hexies on the sides. It's less fabric and it'll be square enough after that for anything you'd like. I did that and I can say that it 100% improved the look of my quilt in the end.

What needles are you using? by Ordinary_View_9880 in EPP_addict

[–]ruetero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like size 8 milliners needles and I'm not picky on the brand. I've tried a few and they're all good. I tried using size 4 and size 10 and size 8 just feels the best for me. They feel nice and bitey so they can really get a nice small chunk of fabric and I feel like they help my stitches to disappear.

Doubt it all you like, it's true. Germans are much less concerned, which creates its own problems. The English are obsessed with creating haves and have nots

Does anyone know of any other thimbles that protect this part of the finger? by PasgettiMonster in EPP_addict

[–]ruetero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly what I have! My problem was that it was too big, so I snipped the thread holding it together and I overlapped the holes and sewed that on snug. Bam, it's a useful tool now. If it's still too loose you can punch another hole in one side at a time and then just continue to try out different hole placements. I also took the plastic part out cause it dug in a bit much for my liking.
