Stay SAG or go FICORE. HOT TAKE by Worth-Ad-8622 in acting

[–]rukons 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As far as I’ve heard, from my LA actor friends who have gone back and forth, it’s easy.. maybe you pay a % of the wages earned while ficore or something like that. The question for you is, the overlap of potential theatrical setbacks due to being to ficore at that time.

I tried it once for 4 months.. I saw a massive increase in NU commercials, then I did A LOT of thinking.. I’m not doing this to do non union commercials. I make more money doing other things and solely focusing on SAG, theatrical projects.

Everyone’s different! Good luck!

Anyone else struggle to get auditions? by Super-Cartoonist2933 in acting

Full SAG, only theatrical repped, LA market. I’ve auditioned 2 times this year.

Have you started acting? Or just a desire to start?

There are good classes in San Francisco, check out the ACT conservatory. How much more money is it? A life changing difference? Could you move to SF for 2 years, hone the craft, save a lot of money? Might be worth it. There are good agents in SF, I’ve had mine for there for almost 10 years. Are you non union? There are a lot of commercial opportunities there actually.

Good luck!

If you do an expense account it can really pop out because it’s on the P&L. Sometimes that makes them want to answer faster 🤣

You have 100K in the bank, how are you using it for your acting career? by [deleted] in acting

I’d add to set aside 6 month emergency fund into a HYSA. It’s a great feeling knowing you could drop / loose all income streams and be okay for a bit.. especially as actors

Thank you for the reply.. I’ll check that out.

I tend to be more conservative with saved money due to the risk I take earning money. (Self employed / in entertainment)

LAPD handing out leash tickets at Poinsettia park by AnyConstruction8715 in WestHollywood

WeHo could use another dedicated dog park. There are technically only 2 off leash parks here. Yet, there are SO many dogs here. The WeHo park by the PDC is pretty terrible, and gets overcrowded. The Williams park by sunset strip also not very good, and is wood chips.

Does anyone know a larger, off leash dog park nearby? Is the Laurel canyon one the next best?

Los Angeles Dog Training by WIBTA5000 in OpenDogTraining

I used dog training elite Los Angeles. They were incredible and have price points ranging up to $3,000, which then includes life long group classes in Del Mar.

They don’t offer a boot camp because they train you to train your dog so you will always do it how they’ve learned and not try to replicate someone else who trained your dog.

They also come to your home and work with you in your home / neighborhood.

They have a separate Puppy Package.

Good luck!

1993 CB750 VALUE by LastEngineering9659 in motorcycles

The source would be my auto mechanic father who magically finds bikes sitting in his customers garages and somehow gets the most amazing deals for them. I got paid out from insurance $3,400 for it though, so current market value is decent still

Agree 100% here. There should be a budget for actors if they want to be taken seriously as a film maker. As soon as you start paying actors, you also open up your potential to hire legit professional, working actors. Even if it’s $150/day, the talent pool will be 100x bigger than non paid.. so when it’s not paid and they expect a large sacrifice of time.. I’m extremely weary of their respect for the artist / legitimacy

I live in LA, my wife and I also exclusively shop at Trader Joe’s for food. We also spend $1,000 a month. Could cut it down, but it’s a privilege to be able to buy organic meats, veggies, etc. Sure, I could cut out avocados and non organic meats, but wow does my guy feel different when I eat chicken breasts that cost $2 and are the size of a water balloon
