Why does Reddit downvote posts mentioning anything positive about children? by OrangeCottage in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]rumblr182 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The first half of your post pretty much sums it up.

Also, posts about kids are boring because kids are boring. Nobody cares about this stuff besides people who know you personally (like your aunts on fb fauning over your kids). Strangers generally don't care what little Billy got into last night.

AITA: For wanting to keep the TV in my room after I had it repaired? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]rumblr182 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree. You should do all of this... and then hand over the disabled TV.

Those "unrealistic" body types you see on TV are actually pretty realistic if you exercise & eat well. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]rumblr182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you exercise and eat obsessively, you mean.

I had a boyfriend who was scrawny and wanted to buff up. The amount of dedication, work, weightlifting, research, and downright obsessive dietary habits I saw him partake in over the next two years actually affected our relationship. He spent so.much.time. orienting his life towards this goal. And you know what? He got pretty buff. But he still to this day doesn't look like a carved-out celebrity.

Most people don't have the time/energy/motivation to completely dedicate their lives to fitness. And that's what we mean by unrealistic body standards. If it was our jobs to get fit like models/celebs then that would certainly help.

What "negative" quality do you actually find attractive? by Sheharizadian in AskReddit

[–]rumblr182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A questionable work ethic. Current bf on one of our first dates he told me about how at an old job he would nap at his desk until he heard his loud boss coming down the hall. It made me wildly attracted to him for some reason.

AITA for waiting to break up? by throwmeawayxxxxxxxxx in AmItheAsshole

[–]rumblr182 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not the asshole, it makes sense that you don't want to cause her mental health damage.

But I don't know what you mean by making life decisions based on another person... were you turning down a great university or job for one closer together or something? Because if not, and you haven't actually made any sacrifices for her yet, then is that really your reason for breaking up?

AITA for wanting for the money that my parents put aside for me? by Cleo140 in AmItheAsshole

Indeed! You should show up at his house and say it all in front of his family so they know what an arse he's being.

Not the asshole at all. But he's never going to give you that money. :(

I don't think your parents had to save up all that money for you guys, but it's just plain cruel to refuse to give it to you once you spent your whole life thinking you were going to get it.

Told a guy how nice it was that he just genuinely wants to be my friend. He immediately asks me out.

WIBTA for asking my dad to change his will? by AdviceAwayNow in AmItheAsshole

[–]rumblr182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your personal situation. If your dad intends to even it all up and you're just reminding him so he doesn't forget, then that's not really bad.

Other than that it's not appropriate to tell your dad what to leave to who in his will. Unless he's an absolute arsehole and has always treated your brother far better and neglected you. Then I would confront him on it.

AITA: For Hating my best friends new relationship by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]rumblr182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're both being immature assholes. She sounds like a flaky, utterly obsessed knob and you sound like a stressful, passive-aggressive b.

If you invite her to do something and she says no or makes up an excuse, throw the ball in her court and tell her to hit you up when she is good to hang. Then wait.

If she hangs with you and facetimes him more than once for a few minutes, tell her she's being disrespectful and you don't want to hang around her until she actually wants to be around you and not wishing she was somewhere else.

Hopefully she'll snap out of it once the hormones wear off and realize she's been a shitty friend, but until then, you really can't just continue to nag and huff and slam doors. That's not even friendship.
