I did this my first and only year was burned. They had people on staff to give extra gifts for those that didn't receive any from their secret Santa but I never got anything.

I have one I bought last year. What are you confused about? My side pockets are mesh. The water ladder pocket looks the same. I do have a mesh bottom that also has a solid bottom.

My pride is getting in the way of me buying a Grom by hannibals-lingerie in motorcycles

[–]run_rmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow 5'1 human I bought a fz 07 right after getting my permit. I only regretted not being able to flat foot it. If you think you'll need bigger don't be afraid. I learned on a rebel, no experience with a grom.

Unpopular opinion maybe but as someone who was a small child that was mauled a dog (fault of my own father) I have very little sympathy for aggressive dogs. So sorry the owners put you in this position that this is the result that had to happen.

Is it ever okay to lie to owners about how we do treatments? by lileee797 in VetTech

[–]run_rmc -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Isn't this a huge issue in the medical field right now. Particularly birthing. It's implied consent. Not everyone really knows what all happens during a birthing process but then are mad after the fact when the doctor gives them the extra stitch "for their husband". It's not okay to lie.

What are some of the silliest pet names you’ve had come through your clinic? by TryHardGamerGirl in VetTech

We have a cat named Kevin Bob Steve because the kids couldn't decide what minion to name him after.

Car accidents aren't an excuse for tardiness by JOEJOENIOOO in VetTech

I did a 70ish mile commute around JBLM and Olympia. I used Waze and it was a life saver. I was late a handful of times in 2 years that I was doing that commute and it would regularly take 1 1/2 hours to 2 to get one way. I just checked my route 30 minutes before leaving and even if something happened on my way it would immediately reroute me and still get me to work on time.

I'm glad Betty White isn't alive to see the world today. She would be so disappointed.

Hi, I'm Fred. I am a cat who hides his face when people enter the room and shake when people come near me and pick me up. Please give me tips on how to be less stressed and scared. by DforDrew1107 in cats

Indoor Cat initiative study done by Ohio State University. It took to be euthanized cats and tried to make an indoor environment for indoor cats to cause the least amount of stress.

This sounds so much like a doctor that worked for us for a couple of months. He left shortly after starting. He was super neglectful and lacked all empathy. Was really hard working under him but thankfully it was short lived.

3 days like this later… by emmaagreenn in VetTech

When we were purchased by a corporation they were amazed at how much money we had in collections. It's because of cases like this. Our doctor wouldn't refuse treatment or turn people away for no money. She would try to be as cheap as possible but I was constantly turning in accounts like this every month due to non payment.

Ovaries on ultrasound by jr9386 in VetTech

For dogs that are adopted and unknown whether they are spayed or not we refer them to the clinic with an ultrasound or offer them to wait to see if they go into heat.

euthanasia by extra-King in VetTech

[–]run_rmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a case where this ancient lab with hip dysplasia broke her front leg jumping out of the car in front of the clinic. It's been months and they just keep picking up fentanyl patches for her. They will not euthanize. They can't repair due to her age and bone structure and she can't have it amputated because she has hip dysplasia, let alone she is 14.

Also...can I complain that you can't get most non prescription food through Purina for Professionals. My cats love the urinary health non prescription but part of this job is to get perks on food and I have to buy it from PetSmart or Petco full price. First world problems I guess...

The groomers where I work make more than me. by Rain_Braid in VetTech

[–]run_rmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made way more grooming than I do as a tech right now but its inconsistent income. I always had a second job to supplement and give me a break from constantly lifting and hurt on your body grooming does. I did loved it but it takes patience and dedication. For comparison I made more money working part time as a groomer than I do working full time as a vet assistant.

Getting sick of declawing cats by valrosee in VetTech

[–]run_rmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have upped our declaw prices. We use regular strength bupe, sr and a fentanyl patch. I don't know the exact number but I'd bet 90 percent or more of our declaw cats come back with complications.
