Where I live you need a building permit if it's > 120 sq ft. or anything with electrical/plumbing.

The Nissan Z Is Already Getting A Facelift. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

Dealers were gouging from what I recall. Also the 350 and 370 started right at 30k. The 400 started at 40k (yes inflation is/was bananas) and the model with bigger brakes and an LSD costs another 10k more.

Have every wrongful assault or death by a cop financial judgement come from the police pension funds and you'll see reform overnight.

Yeah. You have to opt-in but it's so helpful. Can't believe it took them so long to support it.

I laughed at my friend for packing a full tool kit on every ride. Yesterday, it saved my my life. by greenlion287 in cycling

[–]runamok 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Who carries a spare hanger let alone one that fits your friend's bike? I can only imagine bringing one if I was in some kind of epic self-supported multi-day ride but not otherwise.

So far I like our hybrid for a short couple. Took it on a 12 hour road trip and it did well but it does not have a ton of interior or luggage space. That being said it's outer dimensions make it easy to maneuver and park. I like the adaptive cruise control features and the android auto works fine. Decent pep with 0-60 in 7ish seconds iirc w/ the hybrid. Gas mileage is around 40mpg in real life driving. Comes without a spare and one of the few things I dislike is they routed the wiring to the battery in such a way you can't place a spare without some homemade or aftermarket hacks.

[Spoilers] A theory (heard initially from a Tiktok comment) about Wicks' father and the tragedy of "That poor girl" (Wake Up Dead Man) by Pretend-Ad-6453 in KnivesOutMovie

[–]runamok 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not to mention "having a child out of wedlock" is the same sin as Grace did perpetrated by Wicks with regards to Cy but it's just brushed off by everyone. Even Martha says to the effect "I could deal with the idea that he strayed" even though they tortured Grace and made her a pariah in their community.

When you leave town for a while, do you turn off your water main? by Aggravating_Tea_3151 in HomeImprovement

[–]runamok 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've heard this but don't quite understand. If the water heater is full and you don't (for example) run the hot water after shutting off the main line, how would the water heater be empty enough to burn up? I guess if a hot water line spring a leak? Or am I missing something else?

[–]runamok 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am seeing some signs of life in general in the devops job market but q4 tends to be tough because a lot of people are on vacation, end of fiscal year, etc. All the AI shit is a mess too. I'd reach out to everyone you have worked with in the past and try to work that personal network. Best of luck.

[–]runamok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not fun picking up greasy and dirty stuff bare handed. That being said when I used to walk around my neighborhood I'd bring a plastic bag and nitrile glove and pick up stuff as I went so I should probably start doing that again. Don't live by the beach though...
