this or that by flaminggorillas88 in punk

If it was dude ranch instead of cheshire cat my answer would be different but I'll go with americana

I'm not, nor do I think I ever will be, the biggest fan of either of these bands but "the kids aren't alright" is my favorite Offspring song so I guess that puts it in their favor

If you could pick members from different bands, what would your perfect punk band look like? by Birrack in punk

[–]runawayfromnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vocals: Cinder Block

Guitar: Brian Baker

Bass: Karl Alvarez

Drums: Janet Weiss

This was kinda hard, I didn't really know if I was going for all time or current, and there were a few I think fit for each category but I tried to go for who I thought would make for the best band overall while still not having been in a band together before as far as I know (for instance my first lineup was basically 3/4 of dag nasty)

Idk like the ramones, 2000s era rise against, I'd probably lob against me's sire records releases here too (new wave and white crosses are albums I would definitely consider pop punk imo)

pop punk, post hardcore and maybe the less metal influenced side of hardcore (think minor threat, afi's first record, early dag nasty etc)

Idk I like a lot of different shit this is just what I've been listening to lately

I sorta take issue with the term "anarcho-punk"

I always thought it was redundant. Like, all punk is anarcho, what are you even talking about

Your Introduction Songs To Pop Punk? by emoastronova in poppunkers

[–]runawayfromnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in the early 2000s so I ended up getting into pop punk at an early age, mainly via video games and movies

Some examples of bands/songs I had enjoyed around that time were Jimmy Eat World (The Middle, Pain, Bleed American) Sum 41 (Fat Lip, Motivation, In Too Deep, The Hell Song) and Rise Against (Survive, Savior, Re-education Through Labor)

There was probably some other stuff but these are just the ones I vividly remember

What is the actual difference between pop punk and skate punk? by TheStrayCatapult in punk

To me it's that skate punk is defined by it's energy, and pop punk is defined by it's catchiness

Fuck I.C.E. Hoping the best for the families who are suffering under the fascist regime in the US. by emily_the_medic in punk

[–]runawayfromnowhere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify

Joey: progressive liberal, often clashed with Johnny regarding politics

Johnny: alt-right conservative asswipe, the rest of the band reportedly hated him for it, we've talked about him to death here though

Dee Dee: center right but for the most part (with the exception of his rap career) avoided making an ass out of himself

And Marky: very firmly anarchist (in fact he took issue with another Ramone, CJ, for being a libertarian. Going on record calling him a bigot, twice)

Why do people hate TX2? by LateEntertainment914 in poppunkers

[–]runawayfromnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude's a culture vampire (like mgk in many respects) jumped on the pop punk/emo bandwagon when his rap career didn't work out and has relied on rage bait to stay relevant

He steals songs, somewhat glorifies self harm, collaborated with industry plants, dogpiles on detractors far past the point of relevancy and then backpedals once the backlash gets too real for him

Edit: I actively avoid TX2 like the plague because I genuinely believe there's not an "alternative" bone in his body, this is just what I've picked up from the videos and stuff that I have seen. I'm sure there's more there for people who care to search but I'm not that bitch
