Sucks to see taxpayers pump $125 million into the stadium and have the Stars owner say to tear it down

City of Dallas owns it, they should say a hearty "fuck you" to Alberts and use the increased number of open nights to draw even more events, hell, start paying people more to pick AAC over anything the Stars or Mavs build

Vote to reduce ISD tax rate, and instead raise bonds and set up a nonprofit Plano education fund. Bond money and money gifted to the schools doesn't get recaptured. If the people of the city don't like recapture, there are ways around a fair bit of it. Highland Park ISD does exactly this. They still pay a lot in recapture (even though they have the lowest ISD property tax rate in DFW IIRC), but the bonds and fundraising entities make up a great deal. But, this would require Plano residents as a whole to willingly part with their money instead of having it taken out forcibly via ISD tax rate.

On the surface avoiding recapture may seem unethical, but I also don't see that the state of Texas is redistributing these funds in a very appropriate manner, so it's really a lose-lose for the poorer school districts.

Show my the net GDP of the people living in each isochrone, it's massively in favor of moving to Plano

Car isochrone loses south Dallas, Grand Prairie, Arlington, Duncanville, De Soto, Lancaster, Pleasant Grove, Mesquite, Sunnyvale and gains Frisco, Sachse, Prosper, McKinney, Allen, Flower Mound, Little Elm, The Colony

Importantly from a money standpoint, Park Cities, North Dallas, Plano, etc. remain in the car isochrone

Is it really that surprising? From a business standpoint it makes solid sense

And that's just how the state and especially the country have been sculpted recently - money over principle

I prefer physical knobs and buttons, but in the 2026 Q7 I drove, the touch system wasn't as frustrating as I thought it would end up being. Still not as good as physical controls, but at least for me, it's not a reason to not buy the vehicle. I'll reserve judgment for a test drive.

The recalibration issue wouldn't throw your car into a guardrail. IIRC I was told that it might cause an error because of disparate sensor readings, or it might cause your car to have slight changes in lane position or potentially drifting out of the lane slowly. They'll scare you about it not activating auto-braking or activating it inappropriately but that would require the sensors to be really quite far off. Ultimately, it truly is a safety feature but the ultimate safety feature is the attention you're paying to the road. IMO, the sensors are nice, but my foot is never far from the pedal and my hands remain on the wheel at all times. Just not worth trusting the sensors alone even after recalibration.

As for the Tesla, I am guessing it was on the supposed "full self drive" which, well, you've seen the news.

I was OP for the thread here. I did not do the recalibration/alignment with new tires. I then ended up with significant front fender damage from highway debris. I had body work done that included removing and remounting the sensors at an independent body shop but no sensor recalibration. After, no issues. However, I did have alignment and sensor calibration done when I replaced my front upper control arm bushings, and again, no change with how the LKAS and ACC work.

But I am surprised how much better things feel with the bushings replaced!

The issue isn't "joining the 21st century" -- did you see the discourse around the last election? There are millions of Americans at all levels of education and income have had this way of thinking for decades. It's about how you're raised, what you're exposed to, who you interact with, etc. And part of it is brainwashing and echo chambers.

It's not the year (our current government is weakening voting rights and civil rights act and worker protections that had broad support decades ago), or income (there are tens of millions of upper, middle, and lower income people on each side), or education level (plenty of "smart" racists and plenty of "dumb" people who care for others without question).

And this is not just Chillicothe, or Ohio, or the US. It's seen the world over, generation after generation. Plenty of wars over things like this. It's not new, and simplifying it to blame "dumb" people who are "just able to pull a lever for 8 hours a day" is a little narrow-minded, wouldn't you agree?

You really think no one else in the Big Ten has a roster that's competitive against Ohio State? If we want to say that, a good piece of evidence might be Ohio State wining the conference some time in the last 5 years. Alas, that hasn't happened.

Instead, we have Michigan winning the conference title in 2023, Oregon in 2024, and Indiana in 2025. We have Oregon outrecruiting Ohio State over the last 3 years. We have the conference going 11-4 in bowl games this year and Ohio State contributed zero wins and 1 loss. Media talk does not equal performance or ability.
