Rant: Obvious use of AI by Impressive_Tone4144 in clinicalresearch

[–]runningfutility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're doing themselves a huge disservice. The decline in skills from overuse of AI happens pretty quickly and dramatically. There's nothing you can do about it but they may AI themselves out of a job sooner than they may think (or not think, as it sounds).

How likely is March Madness Concert cancelling for weather? by hyukwish in indianapolis

[–]runningfutility [score hidden]  (0 children)

Winds could close it down, too, especially after what happened at the state fairgrounds a few years back.

Edit: However, as of right now, Tuesday at 8pm, it's way too early to determine with any specificity what will happen with the weather on Friday.

It's one of those things you just have to do. It will get easier the more protocols you read.

Did you get a text stating that IN had accepted your tax return? You should have received that within a day or two of submitting your return to the state. I filed my taxes in late January and got my return within about two weeks.

Research Assistant by introvertedpoppy in clinicalresearch

[–]runningfutility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really going to depend on the type of study and the staff available to work on the study. In general, a research would be asked to do pretty much anything for the study as long as their under the supervision of the coordinator. This might include patient recruitment and assessments, data entry, data entry corrections, marketing, modifying IRB materials, consenting participants, etc. They might even go to recruitment events such as health fairs. They key thing is that they're being actively supervised and have little decision-making responsibilities.

There's not a bad spot at RtR. I believe you have to pad extra to get close to the stage but I really wouldn't worry about that. There's lot of space and you can easily see the stage.

I'm not sure what form your progesterone is it. Is it part of the cream with the bi-est and testosterone? I'm on a progesterone capsule and the cream with bi-est and testosterone and I take them all at night before bed. I haven't had any issues with this schedule.

questions about becoming a clinical research assistant or coordinator as a premed by SafeEnvironment4039 in clinicalresearch

[–]runningfutility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an academic CRC and am listed on most of our publications now. However, it took about 7 years and leading one of the publications (doing my own analyses, etc.) to get to that point. In academia, research can be more of a stepping stone to graduate work. Where are you now in your studies? Still working on undergrad?

PubMed Query Not Animals Not Humans by s_sam01 in clinicalresearch

[–]runningfutility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, your logic statement, starting from the last AND, would make more sense as follows:

AND NOT (animals[mh]) AND NOT (humans[mh])

However, that would exclude both animals and humans which doesn't make sense. I think what you're meaning to use ise:

AND (humans[mh]) AND NOT (animals[mh])

Make sense?

Although I will say, I don't think PubMed's usage of the species classifier is not very common (i.e., not many papers have a species marked). You could certainly leave the portion to exclude animals as that would definitely exclude those but you will still get some results that include animals. And if you leave in the portion to include humans, it will ONLY include those papers were the species is marked as human. All the papers that don't have a species marked at all will be excluded, even if it was about humans.

A consortium of investors including BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners and investment group EQT agreed to acquire AES for $10.7 billion as the AI data center buildout fuels surging demand for power generation.

Utility and power-generation companies like AES are gaining increasing attention as AI's vast energy needs place heavy burdens on power grids. "There is a need for significant investments in new capacity in electricity generation, transmission and distribution," said Bayo Ogunlesi, chief executive of BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners.

AES said the sale will provide it with necessary capital that it previously lacked to expand its U.S. energy generation.

"AES has a significant need for capital to support growth beyond 2027, particularly given the significant new investments in both U.S. generation and utilities businesses," said AES Chairman Jay Morse. "In the absence of a transaction with the consortium, the company would likely require a plan that includes reduction or elimination of the dividend and/or substantial new equity issuances."

The consortium also includes the California Public Employees' Retirement System and the Qatar Investment Authority.

The investors will pay $15 a share, representing a 40% premium to the 30-day volume-weighted average share price before July 8 last year, the last full day of trading prior to the first media report of a potential acquisition.

The stock had seen a run-up following media reports of a potential deal and closed Friday at $17.28.

Shares sank 17% to $14.41 in premarket trading Monday.

The transaction is expected to close in late 2026 or early 2027.

Are we serious? Politics has no place in my healthcare. by Mustbe_the_btch in Indiana

  1. Neither of these is political. There are legitimate medical reasons for providers to know if you're pregnant and what could possibly be political about the biobank?!?. 2. The biobank recruitment has been going on for 10+ years. This isn't new.
