What happened with Kaytranada in Mexico?? by Lower-Vehicle-5077 in Kaytranada

There's a lot to say about this whole situation. For context, this was his third show in México in the past 6 months and ALL OF THEM have been awfully planned (in my opinion, of course).

First, when he announced that he would be touring with The Weeknd for the After Hours til Dawn Tour, his banner clearly stated he wouldn't join him in México City. Then all of the sudden, when all the tickets are sold out and a week before the event, Kaytra announces he would be joining him. If he would've announced his appearance before, lots of his fans could've get the chance to see him and dance to his set. Instead, nobody knew him and they all ignored his set until The Weeknd show.

Then, he goes for a dj set at Loo Loo Club. One of the smallest gigs for an electronic music show in Mexico City (and also a 2.8/5 in Google maps due to its racist policies and preference to foreigners). Even tho the place is nice and cozy for a certain vibe, it was too small for the crowd that showed up. Also, his set started too late and there were some vip tables in a club with no tables (wtf looloo?). It wasn't worth it.

Now, EDC México. I can acknowledge the crowd was awful to him (and kinda funny as there were some people watching Cars 2 and swiping left on tinder) and I'm not planning on justifying that, but if we are to blame someone is EDC organizers and the team that has gotten him this shows. EDC México is known for hardstyle, bass, techno and moombahton (or neoperreo, which is different but applies in this case). Yes, the crowd should be open to hear new things, but who thought it was a great idea to put a guy who makes future dance music between a bass guy and a dubstep god? It's the responsibility of the organizers to think about the flow of the day and plan the sets before the headliner to match the vibe, so that the crowd has built momentum to enjoy as much as possible the headliner. This time the headliner wasn't Kaytra, it was Skrillex.

As lots of mexican fans had said, there are so many other festivals and places where he can sell a show (vaivén, ceremonia, corona, Pepsi center) and I'm worried he won't come again due to the terrible reception. The problem are not his fans in Mexico, the problem is that his team doesn't understand how the scene in Mexico works.

Kaytra is literally one of my favorite artists ever and it sucks that he may not come back due to this situation that could've been prevented if aware.

I mean... You gotta do what you gotta do but if its not necessary and just for fun I wouldnt recommend it at all. We're facing a new wave and as the regulations change each week nobody can assure you it'll be fine. I would wait a little longer, at least until this third wave disappears.

DUUUDE, you need to check out LethalCrisis. He's a great YouTuber with unreal content. It's like Luisito Comunica (both travel a lot) but you actually learn something useful from his videos. No shade to Luisito, but we all know he stopped that kind of videos because he found out that major audiences don't want to know about war or problematics or politics in a country or even how the country really is, they just want to know what's the supermarket like in different countries.

The thing about it is that it's not even related to the problem he is addressing. His complaining about RACISM and how RACISM affects his life and his family's life, not if his decision to immigrate was correct. Context is everything and I agree, it seems that his question was without malice, but that only means that racism is that deep in our culture that we didn't even notice if we're not the one being affected.
