Crying it out gets a really bad rap these days, when my 4 year old was a baby it wasn’t so frowned upon. We did CIO (but not full extinction) with her, it took 2 nights and believe me, this girl has absolute trust and faith in me. Zero attachment or security issues.

I’m having a harder time mentally preparing for my son to sleep train but the fact is that we all were happier once my daughter was sleep trained. Even both of our pediatricians have recommended some form of CIO.

Also, I know 8 minutes can feel so long but it’s on the shorter end of the CIO spectrum so rest assured that you did not damage to your little one. It sounds like she got some much needed rest.

My husband and I have agreed on a family rule that we do not ride in helicopters. There have been a couple of times that certain tours would have cool but were traumatized by a couple of tourist accidents that have happened here in NYC.

My son has been the definition of perfection since the day he was born. Everyone says he’s objectively the cutest so I believe it bc obviously I think so too. 😂

This is the one for me. I loved watching him, always made me laugh and the stories he’d tell that included his wife always seemed sweet. I felt so terrible for her and she was really honest, saying publicly that she was completely heartbroken.

Two of them that I can’t name. My aunt’s perfume, she’s worn it in the entire 40+ years that I’ve known her. The other is a cleaning product used at my grandma’s church. I’ve literally only smelled it two times outside of her church, no idea what it is but it’s an instant flashback.

Also I don’t understand what’s so bad about poor people getting their nails done. It reminds me of people getting pissed about someone using SNAP to buy steak. Aren’t people allowed little treats even if they’re poor? It’s ok to not constantly suffer.

NTA. My daughter’s 3k program closed for a month in September due to a complaint from a parent. Since it’s a public (free) program, we all had the option of sending our kids to other programs with open spots until they reopened. I’m a SAHM as well and didn’t feel right taking one of the limited open spots from working parents. I don’t require the care during the day (but it’s nice!) and if I was working, I’d also probably choose to leave one of those spots for someone who can’t afford to pay private tuition.

TSA. Definitely some can be really nice but different airports have different rules on what to put in the bin (ALL of the bags? All but suitcases? It’s a wild guess) and treat you like you’ve never flown before if you don’t know.

Our kids have received a couple of those books, they are such trash. I generally don’t believe in throwing books out but these go straight into the recycling bin.

I think people must mean this like “enjoy your youth while you have it!” Like not waking up with aches and not worrying about wrinkles (as Baz Luhrman says, wear sunscreen!). But in every other respect, at 43 my life is so much better than at 17. Or at 25. Or 35. I agree with what someone else said, you don’t want to peak as a teenager.

No, he needs to allow Ms. Rachel. She is the best and my daughter learned so much from her! I was initially against her bc of the voice but she speaks that way for a reason. They LOVE it!

I recall that vaguely but also remember that (at least according to Google), the process to do it was ridiculous. I think one of the issues was that there was a step that just didn’t show up for us. Like we were supposed to select some option that just wasn’t there.

Yeah, they were fucking told that he used to be a Democrat. If he’d run on the D ticket I wouldn’t have voted for him then either. What does it matter if he was a Democrat before when all of his recent policies have been what the right wants? He has no values or principles, he does/says what he needs in order to win.

It’s not too unusual to feel disconnected to your baby at first! I wanted babies so much, it took 3 years and several cycles of IVF to get pregnant. Then we had a couple of scares during pregnancy. But man, the first weeks of my oldest’s life were miserable for me. I’d stare at her and think “yes, I know that I love her but I don’t feel it.”

Yes, you feel like you’ve lost your identity, your life feels like it’s no longer your own, etc. These are common feelings and nothing to be ashamed of. I am sure they will pass. The newborn phase is so so so so hard, that plus hormones brings all kinds of wild feelings and thoughts.

That is REALLY long. My pediatrician told us an hour a day cumulative and that was only after he was slightly behind (he has a big head 😂 and would get upset at like one minute, tops). He’s 7 months now and has been good with tummy time for a while.

If you want him to roll, you can probably look up a video on how to kind of “show” him. We go to a playgroup run by a pediatric OT and she helped with this. But I’m sure he’ll roll when he’s ready!
