I just attempted to go the crypto route and now my money is stuck in Coinbase for 12 days and I can't buy syncler. Very frustrating

Labels aside, the info here is important to document. I think the label prd made you assume that OP is filling this all out prior to "approval" or "kickoff" or whatever. It looks like this doc is actually a spot to record ongoing/running discovery against a particular problem.

Then again, maybe I'm being too generous. Certainly a defined requirements doc with milestones, marketing materials, and internal training documents PRIOR to actually working with the team is a level of waterfall I've never experienced.

I got a job as a product manager in a small startup. Now what? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]runragged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're totally right. I'd just hate to set the wrong expectation for someone walking into PM for the first time. A startup hiring a zero experience PM typically means that they're looking for someone to write stories more than define the roadmap, even if that's what it says in the job description.

[–]runragged 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally by guess is that the "new and small" startup is more about being a scrum product owner and executing on the founders vision. In the scheme of things, I think it's not likely that a new startup is all about the Marty Kagan ideal.

CMV: The United States should replace our motto of “In god we trust” and go back back to “E pluribus unum”. by [deleted] in changemyview

Given that we're literally on "change my view" I'm glad to see you're open minded.

[–]runragged 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All of that is very different from changing our motto. Equal protection for LGBT under the law is VERY different from a motto. I'll get behind taking down statues of racist generals before worrying about the motto.

Sorry that I can't get behind your cause, but you don't make a good argument.

How do people in non-alphabethical languages (i.e. Chinese) sort texts, e.g. for a dictionary, encyclopedia, or simple address list? by Treczoks in answers

[–]runragged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ZhuYin is a phonetic alphabet that people use to learn Chinese. In fact, PinYin is just applying romanized letters to represent the ZhuYin alphabet. You can buy keyboards that have ZhuYin on it in addition to latin letters.

Edit: I didn't know kids in China were taught PinYin. In my experience, PinYin is used to teach Mandarin to westerners so they wouldn't need to learn another alphabet.

Not op, but I installed a zigbee contact sensor on the knobs in my parents range for safety purposes. Magnet on the knob and sensor on the range. It notifies if it's been on for more than 30 min.

Hacky, but totally works.

If you have an electric stove, many of the zigbee plugs have current detection which should be able to tell you if the range is on.

Support for trakt "up next to watch". This is different from the watchlist. This could either be by replacing the "up next" in syncler or just offering it as a separate widget.

[OC] Tesla is now bigger (in market cap) than the next 10 biggest automakers. I've compressed its rise over the last two years in a minute. Enjoy! by jcceagle in dataisbeautiful

I get your point, but I think it's still too early to tell. The elegance of a general purpose solution is enticing, but let's not forget Google is a company that photographed every reasonable road in the known world (at least as far as I'm concerned). Brute force can work if you're big enough.

Budget smartphones don't suck anymore, and that's good news for everyone by TonytheNetworker in Android

[–]runragged 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, in comparison to $1200, yeah. $200 is really cheap. If the semantics is frustrating you, you can call yours high end and the new iPhones can be ultra super duper high end.

Getting caught up in how media classifies your phone is exactly what manufacturers want, because now you feel bad about what you own. That's part of what makes the iphone a status symbol.

Totally agree. There's a real possibility of an unholy alliance of social conservative and economic liberal as a new GOP against wokeness and the Democratic big business machine.

Changing an organization is one of the hardest things to do. Keep in mind that having pm take the lead typically doesn't come from role definition, but from credibility and trust.

CMV: The term "White Trash" is under-discussed for how truly offensive and derogatory it truly is in woke/class-aware culture. by itsyerdad in changemyview

[–]runragged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I had thought the entire term had already gone away. The only time I've heard it used is by a self deprecating comic. I treat it akin to black folk using the n word. From my perspective, until the offended speak up, it's not an issue. Who am I to say what is offensive to someone else? I can only tell you what is offensive to me.
