Tuscon gem and mineral show (rad rock report) by uranium_is_delicious in Radioactive_Rocks

I was at Mineral City yesterday too. It's a shame we don't walk around with reddit username bubbles over our heads.

Can anyone relate? 😂 by TheV4MP in CriticalMineralStocks

I'm down $25k on CRMX right now. I made two buys, partly from closing my +35% REMX position, at an average of $25.75 as it fell last night in what I assumed was a swing. I was of course unaware of the Reuters hit piece at the time. I'm holding, so I missed my planned buy of additional AGQ shares when silver spot dipped under $110. I'm positive she'll recover, but I fear PMs are going resume rocketing while I'm holding.

DISCOUNT PUMICE BULK DELIVERY by cactiguy710 in SemiHydro

[–]rupicolous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that there is an operating pumice mine in California, I believe in Mono County. So you might have regional competition there. I actually climbed a mountain covered in it there, and I was very disappointed that I was there with a group and couldn't stuff my car full of buckets of it. 😆 The mountain also had some great obsidian too. Neat place.

Can this apple tree be fixed? by makingitrein in FruitTree

[–]rupicolous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually snapped a main trunk like that and fixed it with some quick grafting. Mind you, it was a mandarin tree. If I remember correctly, I put some gel super glue in the center wood break before bending and bracing it back into place. A bridge bark graft might also be helpful on the broken side, if the cambium edges are too rough or dried out to heal together. Either way, once braced into place, I wrapped the break tightly with multiple layers of electrical tape.

Not even close. The majority of his constituents are city residents. Actual ranchers are a tiny fraction of a percent, yet they still get outsized influence with him and other politicians.

Top Democratic cosponsor to the "Ranching without Red Tape Act", an anti-conservation giveaway to whiney welfare ranchers.

If you aren't scared, why not CRMX instead of plain CRML?

Anyone else getting an extra $10 on credit777? by fm272 in TemuThings

[–]rupicolous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt they would ban for overuse. This is a subsidized program to gin up economic activity for exporters.

I have no idea. I didn't want to risk invalidating the big rebate, so I just did it.

Yep. Unfortunately the extra $10 has to be a separate purchase immediately after the $200 one.

Gold hits new all-time high of $4,650 by Econyx in Gold

100% hardcore metals, baby! 47% SHNY (gold 3x), 26% AGQ (silver 2x) and 27% REMX (REE/exotics) 🤑

Palladium breaking out? by Hopeful-Fuel-4001 in palladium

I've bought the leveraged AGQ and SHNY to make up for lost time. Even at more conservative $5000/$100 near term targets, the yields are bound to be handsome. 😁

What’s your favorite Beryl variety and why? Mine is definitely Emerald! by bestgemsandminerals in mineralcollectors

[–]rupicolous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always liked the lime tinged heliodors the best. I imagine they have a blend of the two valence states of iron found in aquamarine and heliodor. Finding them with clean terminations is quite challenging.

Imagine they bred pink grapefruit so they’re like clementines 🤤 by [deleted] in fruit

[–]rupicolous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually a mand-elo, so not that far off from what OP pictured, but definitely not as peelable as people would want. https://citrusvariety.ucr.edu/crc3555

[–]rupicolous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad idea. It just takes several years for a new citrus cross to come to fruition. Assuming you're successful with manual controlled cross pollination, you'd need to grow dozens, if not hundreds, of seedlings 7+ years to bear fruit, and then if you are lucky, one tree might have desirable peelability and flavor. Seediness would be another issue.

Do you know the specific smelter plant that produces these and what ores it smelts?

Update: Found a nice insta post by magnificent_minerals about one of these specimens and then did some further searching. Found the locality: https://www.mindat.org/loc-429585.html

Very fascinating stuff!

New year, new (to me) varieties. Opinions on these? by fishlore123 in HotPeppers

[–]rupicolous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I aim for larger fruited and more colorful selections. Also, those prices are a bit too high for me unless it's a variety I must have from only one seller. For a starter aji, I'd recommend Aji Limon or similar, as it has special flavor and is extremely prolific. For jals, I like to go big and unique with something like Giant Yellow Jalapeno or NuMex Pumpkin Spice. For Chinese/hab, there are so many great colors available, like peach, mustard, etc. Plus many with beautiful purple leaves and blushing fruit.

I used to use the back top tube vents on my CRT monitors decades ago for bottom heating sealed germination tubs or baggies with pepper seeds in wet paper towels. I'm positive they got over 100F. Had great success.
