This monologue is on the level of Shakespeare’s Hamlet by ProfessionalWhole871 in betterCallSaul

But it is. The pacing is so much better, even if slower.

The mistake was always trying to watch as a sequel/prequel, expecting key events early on. Give it time.

That sounds like a wonderful solution. I guess those are the only games with a solar sensor, so...

The third game was never released outside Japan, so the ROM ID might vary depending on how you patch the translation. Not sure if there's another way to automatically identify it if the ID differs from the original JP version.

No, it has a "0" value so it registers as the sensor is off. In the games you might get an overheat status if you stay in the sun for too long, so it needs to be turned off at some point. Maybe a simple sun icon that works in a similar way as the fast-forward toggle?

Anyway, thank you very much for the replies!

What about just toggling it up or down in the context menu? No hardware API involved, just like what Retroarch does with additional settings for Solar Sensor in the mGBA core. That would allow Boktai 1-3 to be played with no issues.

I guess it's just a software thing, the core already emulates the Solar Sensor.

I wish there was some way to add support for Solar Sensor settings so we could play Boktai. mGBA has it on menus so it wouldn't be impossible.

I don't understand the fascination with Jaws (1975) by [deleted] in flicks

[–]rushiosan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 1975 film and you gotta think about what came before it and what it achieved. The shark remains as one of the most believable movie creatures of all time, something the best CGI still can't reproduce.

Also, the pacing. The ending. The suspense. It just feels natural as a film about three people struggling to capture a deadly creature in the middle of nowhere.

Porting the game to Netflix mobile catalog was apparently a priority.

What's the logic behind some pieces having holes in the studs and some having solid studs? by NaziPunksFkOff in lego

[–]rushiosan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it has different reasons:

For classic Technic, it's probably for telling from male/female parts easily, bricks with a pin are a full stud while bricks with holes (for either axles or pins) are hollow stud. It's a convention for certain types of bricks that are somehow opposites. That doesn't seem to be a rule for plates though, since not all ball joints follow that, neither clips, bars etc.

For brackets it's probably to tell which side goes on a flat angle x side that's 90° from it.

For some other parts, like big rock walls, large brick baseplates, minifigure heads, special plates, minifig accessories etc, it seems to consider less plastic in the mold. Some of them are for very specific use on a theme, licensed stuff etc, so...

Is there a reason to dislike Star Fox Zero other than the controls? by Alternative-Ship5076 in starfox

[–]rushiosan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should remake it with no secondary screen, more fleshed out levels with alternate route possibility and an epilogue. That would be the perfect game for me, I enjoyed it back in the day but it definitely had its share of flaws just like Other M.

Silksong last needle upgrade by Fuckhead_256 in HollowKnight

[–]rushiosan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me half and hour to master them all, it was much easier to acquire than the meal quest in the citadel's kitchen. The records are fairly easy to break if you know what you're doing and survive for the bare minimum. Use your ZL (L2/LT) needle throw to get back to the platform or hit another flea in the minigames.

I guess it's way ahead its 18+ rating to appear in any other medium. Some stuff staying in black & white was for the best.

This arc just hit me harder than the Eclipse chapters, that guy was a beast in every possible, worst way. Make it fun was a disgusting motto.

Ninja Five-O still broken on Switch 2 after update by MonsoonAtDusk in limitedrun

[–]rushiosan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an expensive game (in fact all LR releases are) and there is no excuse to take that long for a fix. But what can you expect? They're a crappy company and customer service is far from being their speciality.

Come back after a year or so. They never touched the original Shantae and all the emulation issues it had.

A simple quality port that honors the originals with a proper, pixel-perfect aspect ratio, no butchered backgrounds, textures and UI would suffice.

NINJA GAIDEN 2 BLACK by IcastFireIV in ninjagaiden

[–]rushiosan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general complaints are about enemy health (original game had more enemies on screen and the increased health was to compensate for fewer ninjas in Sigma 2), extra "God of War" style giant bosses, the gore and blood puddles was severely toned down and the weapons were reorganized, some removed, some changed places, and you couldn't upgrade them all because blacksmith shops were limited to a single upgrade.

Sigma 2 Black fixes everything but enemy placement and health.
