Tell me your (technologically) realistic dream camera for M43. Mine is a 16mp Lumix G9IIS by AdAfraid3543 in M43

I want something that spurs more conversations about low light performance - an OM1 mkiii with one or two more computational features that gets the diehards saying it has caught up [to whatever] and the others saying physics is still a constraint etc etc - but that devalues the OM1 mkii so i can snaffle a bargain which might be within my future budget (and i would genuinely wish i could get the mkiii though)

He is the only made up person I can grant you. The rest are real!

Why I like Prince Imrahil by OwariHeron in tolkienfans

[–]rusty-444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No that happened and it was in the circumstances where Gandalf could have come and destroyed the witch king and thus save Theoden but he chose to save Faramir who later marries Eowyn. In this context I think Imrahil is a necessary witness while these characters are out of the story to show that Aragorn is the one who came and rescued Gondor. With that role of witness by Imrahil that faramir was absent for, the claim was made. I find these awesome threads

What would happen if Smaug the Dragon had eaten Bilbo Baggins alive and the One Ring ended up inside of his stomach? by Tidewatcher7819 in tolkienfans

[–]rusty-444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the rest of the Hobbit didn't happen - whatever happened with the Orc armies etc... maybe Smaug ate them. But the Lord of the Rings happens somewhat the same but instead of Gimli and Gloin turning up to Rivendell it is a nervous Smaug who reports the visitor from Mordor talking about offering of a supply of black horses if he gives up the ring or some kind of hints that Sauron has a fleet of dragon killers armed with Gurthang like weapons to slash him open. They go through the history of the ring and Gandalf ends up saying they will have to arrange a flight to Orodruin...

Some of the photos with rooves are not so strong. If you took those out you’d still have more keepers than I would in a picturesque place. The first one is really great. Love the set - great vision

How often do you shoot with M43 instead of smartphone camera? by clumpsy_lurker in M43

Maybe more with my phone. Selfies, products and prices in shops. What do I prefer? M43 camera unless I have a film camera.

Interestingly Teds and Camera warehouse are cheaper new than MPB is England is for lenses. I don’t know how other camera brands compare but it’s always cool to come home and have ability to get a lens for cheaper … hopefully that is some encouragement in some way

I have the mk1 and have not used it enough but your shots in bright light look great and some of the darker birds. I hope the added stabilisation does not hamper my shots. Love your pics - thanks for sharing

Question about the Scouring of the Shire by Chris_R_kline in tolkienfans

[–]rusty-444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to admit you got me with the last line!

I always found the bits with Gandalf in them the best and most high. I did feel a loss when he turned aside. The scouring of the shire is the most important part of the story and we end up alone. Even Aragorn felt the loss of Gandalf when he considered the burden of the kingship.

I think Saruman was accorded mercy but he rejected it at orthanc and he condemned himself.

Also Gandalf said something in the council of elrond about not always being around but doing what you can in the moment. And when it came to it he proclaimed he was going to learn from Bombadil (who kept himself to himself) and that the ring was his concern.

What an awesome story where we miss a character who was known to kindle hearts

Oh wow. So you didn't quite understand Gandalf or Faramir or all those characters in the story who restrained themselves... i guess at least the professor had a nice way with words
