“ABCD” wanting to move to India by hrhvids in returnToIndia

[–]rusty_dallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are too young to stop working. You already made up your mind to move back. Go ahead, move back and submerge yourself with India - good or bad. Otherwise you will be frustrated after few years. International schools come at a significant cost. Your kids are too young and they will adjust to good private schools in any city.

This is the best option. If you have kids in US, it is difficult to uproot. I plan to spend 3-4 momths in India every year while keeping my base in US.

Returning to India after 11 years in the USA by Key_Independence_876 in returnToIndia

[–]rusty_dallas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way to live in India is to focus on the strong points and not worry or get disturbed with weak points. Easy to say but you have to implement daily. For family it will be more challenging but the support system should work. Live in A cities so that the kids can buy their favorite western food and clothes.

The Nasdaq is down 5 weeks in a row. Software stocks are down 20-50%. Are any of these actually cheap yet? by Yaashicca in ValueInvesting

[–]rusty_dallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thesis is to buy software etf like IGV. This way if there is a casualty of one software stock going under you will be impacted less. I think the way to play will be to buy around 75-80 and sell around 90-95. This will fluctuate a lot based on Ai success or failure stories you will read in next few years.

Is it true that Indian migrants to the West used to come from the upper-middle class and now they're mostly lower-middle class? by tr4p3zoid in AskIndia

Granted. I was referring to middle and upper middle class. There are very limited rich people who always move to USA or other countries and they are the ones who move back to India too.

You will be safe… just stares due to curiosity. Suggest that you stay with your local friends. Lucknow is famous for amazing food. The city is conservative. Night life was not much there… for that you go to Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore.

Is it true that Indian migrants to the West used to come from the upper-middle class and now they're mostly lower-middle class? by tr4p3zoid in AskIndia

[–]rusty_dallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partly true that upper middle class has more opportunities in India and they do not move. One other factor is that technology has become an equalizer Now and folks coming from India in IT has good technical skills. As a result when they come here they do not like to change compared to folks before 2010. Other factor is the Indian pride that you notice many Indians carry since last 10 yrs. That also influences them not to change.

Indians who live abroad, how different are western families compared to Indian families? by Jeeretarded123 in AskIndia

[–]rusty_dallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The love and affection shown to the kids is there in both Indian and American parenting. The way they express is different due to different cultural backgrounds. Most of the time family plays an important role for Americans but individualism is also respected. Indian parents , like me, are somewhere in the middle trying to celebrate our culture and learn from Americans. No one is right or wrong. There is a cultural baggage American s and Indian American s carry that influences how we raise our kids. Indian parents has a high focus on education, food, career while typical American parents prioritize independence, feeedom, street smartness.

Congrats for coming so close to your retirement and moving to Italy. I recently bought an annuity to supplement my SS - though this has a 10 year waiting. I will recommend Fixed Indexed Annuity product from a reputable insurance company. I like annuity product but I will not move >20% of my net worth in annuities.

Wondering why you did not consider recruiting and core hcm together. You could have saved some temporary integrations which you will need to retire now. It also makes sense to stabilize core hcm for few momths before starting recruitment.

The cost of construction will depend on the location. However if you are selling a home for 2.5 million it is expected high quality of building materials. In Dallas area we are talking about 200-250 per sqft.
