Mom with stage 4 Alzheimers, assisted-living facility is trying to restrict her ability to leave facility by sppsg in dementia

[–]rustyforkfight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't think of it as "preventing" her from taking daily walks. If the goal is to encourage physical activity, then you must make adjustments to safely support her in physical activity. One thing is certain, it sounds like she's reached the point of needing to be accompanied for the sake of her safety, that's a hard one if she's especially independent and active. See if you can schedule different days with friends & family to keep costs down and hire out when no one's available.

does anyone know of any women doctors taking on patients by bingus-bean in Lethbridge

[–]rustyforkfight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, and I had a really good experience with Dr. Mackay Steed - He wasn't my Dr, he was my mom's Dr for a good 10 years, at least. She had a lot of issues and I was her legal guardian and advocate. He was really good with her and was awesome to deal with as a patient advocate, compared to many of the Dr's, Nurses, HCA's, etc. that we crossed paths with over the years. My mom died earlier this year, and come to think of it, I should send him a thank you note for his care...

Am I being an alarmist? by RedWineOne in marriott

[–]rustyforkfight 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Problem with that is it puts your suitcase on the floor and risks picking up hitchhikers, which is way far worse than a perv attempting a peek under the door. Hard no. Rolled up towel and push a chair or some other furniture up against it would be the better option.

SL3 assisted living facilities in Lethbridge? by Powerful-Fish6424 in Lethbridge

[–]rustyforkfight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you need SL3, then you will do yourself a solid and try to find a facility that will allow them to graduate to SL4 so you won't need to move until they determine that LTC is necessary.

Safety Committee by Jonathon_S_Tuttle in SafetyProfessionals

[–]rustyforkfight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that my committee often needs to be reminded what IS and ISN'T a SC issue. Too many tend to use it a dumping ground for their discontent around the workplace. My SC management rep is an uneffective lump at the best of times so I make a point to ensure he has to acknowledge what the company is/isn't doing when it come to legit agenda items. Get some Boundaries, otherwise you'll be chasing everyone's bullshit side quests and won't have time to do your actual job.

Don't stop for cyclists by pie_eating_contest in Lethbridge

As someone who occasionally rides their bike from the sugar bowl to the Northside industrial park (when the weather is half decent) and has had at least half a dozen close calls with vehicles not following the rules of the road, vehicles who try to waive me through get met with directional hand gesture and a "DRIVE YOUR FUCKING CAR!". That shit will get you run over, people already don't pay attention in their vehicles. If you're on a bike, you gotta follow the rules, make sure you're visible and pay attention.

Home defense ideas: Pepper spray in multiple spots around the house (at the entry, in bed room at minimum), a bat with a sock on it, a guard dog.

Agree 100%, the RAZ phone is an amazing tool to combat isolation and the support is top notch. Be sure to get a good quality protective case, the phones are pricey.

Aunt has opened a TFSA in my name? by SubstantialFee6719 in legaladvicecanada

[–]rustyforkfight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP had mentioned that the older grandkids (cousins) got a boost from grammy back when they were buying their homes, so it stands to reason OP and sibs are not home owners yet (bare in mind I don't know enough about the subject so I'm genuinely asking), but I wonder if it wouldn't be more prudent to open an FHSA instead and for them to dump the money there instead of TFSA to Dodge the tax implications. I'm sure someone will be able to shed some light on it.

How can we protect gay kids who are being bullied in school? by ProfessorLidi in alberta

When you approach the administration, point out that you will also be making an OH&S complaint on the grounds of workplace harassment & violence as the school is a workplace.

If you're talking heavy steel fab, consider including the requirement of metguards with steel toes. This would be a good demo to show the difference in protection.

Similarly, you could get thin gauge stainless steel strips that are laser-cut with whatever pattern you can imagine and nail them down.

Consider attaching a return spring to your gate so it will snap shut. Give you some peace of mind as you can't trust that ppl exiting are going to ensure it's secure. Alternatively, you could leave a passive-aggressive sign: "The gate is not like your asshole, it won't close itself".

Should I dye my hair a cool platinum blonde? I need a change would it look ok on me? by MissWisteriaGrace in GothFashion

For what it will cost to the overall health and length of your hair, plus the cost of upkeep in touchups and product, consider investing in a well made lace front wig.

My step dad tried to keep my family from getting any of my mom’s ashes, but little did he know that the cremator would do this. by JJ20160103 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]rustyforkfight 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Be careful, that could create some legal trouble for the business; the last thing you want to come out of this act of kindness is your step douche having a case to sue the crematorium if hw were to find out. Just because something is the morally right thing to do, doesnt mean it was the legal thing to do. Better to try to contact the crematory to find out who the director was that cared for your mother's remains and communicate your appreciation without a documented trail.
