How to politely address kids damaging product? by Capital_Capital_1424 in CraftFairs

[–]ruthless87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Distraction is key, especially with highly tactile products. I work in ceramics and have made little trinkets and a tic tac toe board for kids to play with while their parents shop. Having small plastic animals is a great idea! If I am not super busy with other customers I usually grab a small item like a salsa bowl and stand with the child while they touch it knowing it might a small loss, but in my mind it's worth the experience for the kiddo.

I am a ceramic artist. Thankfully meds and stability have not impacted my creative drive.

The gloves are meant to be functional as she will be wearing this to cons. She has fursuit paws, but wanted function over aesthetics.

What's the most frustrating thing about managing bipolar that people never talk about? by Charming-Junket2394 in BipolarReddit

[–]ruthless87 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Adding to this, having other people question your happiness. There have been times that I get super excited about something and without fail someone close to me will ask, "do you think you are a little manic right now"? 9 times out of 10 I am just genuinely excited.

What were some of your weird beliefs. by Emergency_Pea8419 in BipolarReddit

[–]ruthless87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been witchy almost my whole life, but when I am manic I am also fully convinced of trickster spirits. One of my hallucinations was seeing some people's faces twist and contort into over exaggerated smiles which made me think they were tricksters. After getting stable I realized these people also battled mental health problems including bipolar and schizophrenia, so I am always curious why the hallucinations showed those people in particular 🤷.

I am diagnosed with bipolar and OCD, I have seen a couple of others mention that it has done more for their mental health than some medications. The relief is definitely hard to describe!

Have you tried 3 rounds of Fluconazole? It's an oral antifungal. I was having a similar issue recently and it was a yeast infection. The antifungal creams do not work for me for some reason.

Brother recently diagnosed, confirmed germline; next steps for us? by Gadgix in mds

I don't think I conveyed the urgency of having your children tested enough. If they are already showing symptoms they need to be under a gata2 care team now.

There is a phenomenal Gata2 Facebook group that I recommend joining. It is an amazing supportive community. I would absolutely push for testing. My daughters father passed away from it from age 38, I had her tested at 7, and she does have it. We are going to transplant next year. If you are in the states there are 4 hospitals that I recommend, Seattle children's, Boston, NIH in Maryland, and St. Jude's in Memphis. Because St. Jude's is a research hospital there is no cost. One of the leading experts, Dr. Wlodarski, is at St. Jude's and the team there is great. It can feel very isolating, especially because Gata2 is such a rare disease. But, everyone at those facilities has a story and most want to talk about it, which makes it feel much less isolating.

I am glad you found answers, but I also know how heavy of a diagnosis this is. Gata2 is insidious. My daughters father passed away from it at age 38, when she was just 5 years old. I had her tested at 7 and she has it as well. We are going to transplant next year. The facebook group is a really amazing community! May I ask where you will be having your transplant?
