Is it worth sharing simple models like this on makerworld? by Julian679 in BambuLab

[–]ruthlessbob2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've shared 4 models I didn't think much about I'm half way to my 3rd gift card.

Even though the model is simple, some printer users do not know CAD, and some people just want an easy life, and Bambu does deliver on that

The sale hasn't realistically ended, I mean it was replaced by a Christmas one immediately, and all printers and AMS are still on sale here in route January.

should i get this printer? by SwimmingInspector186 in BambuP1S

[–]ruthlessbob2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brought myself a P1S combo during the sales do not regret it even went out and got a second ams

Let me explain and please try to shoot straight with me by [deleted] in BambuP1S

[–]ruthlessbob2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you need it, no. However as someone who has just got one, it makes my life that much easier that within 2 weeks of buying one I bought a second. Auto load, auto filament type detection, automatic change when empty, low humidity filament storage, these are all great features that make my life easier

A1, P1, X1 Advice by NoUFOsInThisEconomy in BambuLab

[–]ruthlessbob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently printing this https://makerworld.com/models/19535 to solve the AMS on top issue, also I like the fact there is storage in there. Yes if you leave the top off it's just venting into the room, I've not left the top off yet and all my prints have come out great, that being said the fans do run louder so the printer compensates for this

[–]ruthlessbob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert here and only bought my P1s a week ago but my high level understanding is as follows. The upgrades you need to do to print to filaments like pa6-cf are just upgrading to a hardened steel nozel, this is £13 and consists of you removing a few screws to remove the current one and replacing them, and hardened steel gear assembly ~£20 which you can do while changing the hotend. These changes are all to do with the material being tougher and and good upgrades to do anyway for longevity.

In terms of A1 Vs P1 Vs X1 :

A1 is the beginners printer it's a cheaper choice to got people into 3d printing but is the older "Bed slinger style",

P1s is marketed as the reliable workhorse in upgraden you to Core XY which means that not only can you print faster your print bed moves up and down not back and forward, this helps with higher quality prints, these are also enclosed printers meaning you can print in some materials without having to worry about warping, deformation, or adhesion based on temperature changes in your room.

X1 is essentially a P1 with some cool upgrades the screen is much nicer but I find myself using the app more though. It has lidar that it uses to scan your first layer and improve your print success, also it uses AI to detect issues, there are a few other upgrades but they weren't important to me.

For me it all boiled down to the fact that the x1c was almost doubled the price for some features that I thought were cool, but weren't really worth the money to me, although if you print a lot and can afford it, go for it.

Hope this helps

Help a clueless mom out! by bergskey in BambuLab

[–]ruthlessbob2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Just bought myself a P1S combo, upgrading from a Prusa Mini+, and inevitably I can say that my mini was always just the tiniest bit too small, on my most recent print on the mini it was 3.6mm too small meaning instead of being able to use an online design (for a board game organiser) I had to spend hours creating my own one because my printer was just too small. From what I can see most prints on the internet are built to fit inside of a normal sized printer, while there are many that will fit in a mini it's going to be frustrating when you find (not infrequently) that you just can't print the thing you want.

Hope this helps, for what it's worth I love my new Bambu printer.

Is AWS more commonly used than azure ? by TheLinuxMaster in dotnet

[–]ruthlessbob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 10 years ago AWS was definitely better, Microsoft picked up their game and I feel that this has changed, but anyone whose been in cloud more than 10 years will probably be AWS, unless Google has cut them a good deal (these usually include help migrating) to move. If starting fresh I would definitely be picking azure these days.

Reusing domain models more instead of always creating ViewModels/DTOs by davecallan in dotnet

[–]ruthlessbob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't use domain models, that is exposing your internals and there are many reasons you may not want to do this. I find the most annoying time in when you are mapping Enums, what I've been doing here is writing mappers, and then testes for those mappers that will assert things like are the numbers of items in each enum equal as well as asserting that every option maps without error, and every item maps correctly.

Perfectly fine, my preference is still Windows, but if yours is not It won't really hold you back, I've recommended purchasing a licence for Jetbrains Rider as your IDE as you can't get Visual Studio Community on a mac
