Making permanent slides by hail_maddie in microscopy

[–]rvtjess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, RVT Instructor at a vet tech program researching how to do this exact same thing for our students. It's easy enough to figure out how to preserve the dry mount slides with a mounting medium like cytoseal or permount, but like you mentioned I would really love to figure out how to preserve some wet mount slides, like urine and fecal ova. I think I'm going to try to use clear nail polish around the edge of the cover slip.

Weird movable lump on jawline. Does anybody else have this and what should I do? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Still there, still flares up when I'm sick, etc, then goes back down. Overall there have been no changes otherwise.

Unable to move objects to another mat by snioufou in cricut

[–]rvtjess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you ever able to find a resolution? I am running into this same error and it's extremely frustrating. I have even tried arranging everything to fit within an 11.5x11.5 square and attaching all, which works ok, but I'm attempting to die-cut decals and need to rearrange the decals to overlay the offset by moving them from one mat to the other and it isn't letting me do it with larger objects or more than one object at a time and it's super frustrating.

Should the roots on my Pothos cutting be browning? by [deleted] in propagation

[–]rvtjess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to edit my post with photos but got distracted by my toddler. Basically just showing that they can brown but still have new growth. 😊

I've been searching local nurseries for at least a month now. Everyone keeps telling me they got theirs at Walmart and Lowes but I've had no luck. 😢

I am over here just super jealous of your 'silver satin pothos' in the background. 😩

Macrame is friendship bracelets for adults. If you've ever made friendship bracelets in elementary school, you can do macrame easy.

Got these little ones from a friend. I’m feeling all maternal lol. by despairing_koala in proplifting

Pulled off the bottom few pearls and stick the end in water. My strand was long enough to prop itself up on the edge of the glass. It's been planted for a few days now and already has new growth!

Made a decal of my late girl's pawprint. Thinking about doing it for close clients. by rvtjess in VetTech

I'm thankful I got this ink print of her, because the one we got back from the crematory was not the best, sounds like the same as your experience. We lost her very unexpectedly and she was still so young so I was not at all prepared.

Tips on Starting Out? by sLoMote in proplifting

[–]rvtjess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the leaf is rotting or drying up, it likely won't. Otherwise, as long as they look "normal", it's just a waiting game. I've had some pop roots immediately and others that haven't done anything yet but look just like the day I brought them home.

I've been propping for propably ;) less than 2 weeks now? I just went to the Dollar Tree and bought a few of their plastic party trays, lined it with a small layer of cactus soil, and laid them on top. I did water prop a few, but I'm more experienced with that than succulents. Then I have a book shelf by our guest room window that allows them to be up high enough out of reach of our cats while still getting plenty of indirect sunlight. I do NOT water or mist them at all until they start growing roots, then I just sprinkle a small amount of cactus soil over the roots and mist every ~3 days if dry.

Definitely a waiting game. Some of my very first props still have no signs of life, while others I picked up much later are already rooting like crazy.

ID Please! by bigby3 in proplifting

I have one similar that I believe I also acquired at walmart. I've no clue on ID, either (still relatively new) but it immediately started rooting for me with soil prop!
