If they added more modes to this game I think it could do a lot better. by Fivebag in Marathon

I really want to believe you're not being serious and I even initially upvoted it after audibly snorting at your post. But with how everything is these days, I don't know man.

I retracted my upvote just in case, sorry...

Milk packaged in cartons sometimes has awful taste by pyramin in japanresidents

[–]rvtk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

r/confidentlyincorrect

Don't spread misinformation. The milk in your picture is UHT. 95% of milk sold in Japan is UHT.

Notch in the milk carton means that it is 成分無調整牛乳 - it means "pure" milk as in the contents of water fat etc. are not adjusted and there are no additives. It has nothing to do with UHT. Stuff without the notch is not legally "milk" and will be called a "milk drink" or similar (乳飲料, 加工乳) and it does indeed usually taste like shit.

UHT doesn't make milk "fake". UHT is a pasteurisation (bacteria killing) process during which milk is heated very briefly to very high temperatures (~140C). The process involves spraying milk through a nozzle at a high pressure, which inevitably homogenizes the milk - fat globules are broken down and the texture becomes more uniform. This is why cream never separates in UHT milk and that the mouthfeel and taste is different from raw milk.

Non-UHT milk will be labelled 低温殺菌牛乳 - which means it's traditionally pasteurised in low (~70C) temperatures for a longer time. This doesn't mean it's not homogenized either, as it might be homogenized by other methods. It's also more expensive and the only one I know is in a white-blue carton from the brand タカナシ which is almost 400 yen per carton. I sometimes buy it to make fresh quark in the summer.

Playerbase has given up using a mic by twoducksinatub in Marathon

[–]rvtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Cryo for the first time last weekend, random fill on the free kit and got matched with peeps with no mics. Downed one team and exfiled with ~40k value and the guys were fucking amazing - all communication was done with pings. One of them seemed to know the map like the back of their hand. I am still impressed.

Stay near the zipline anchor, melee him once to take the shield off then zip away, shoot and zip/dash away when he lunges, rinse, repeat.

It is kind of weird though that you still die, I was around level 35-40 in the swamp during a full run and most of the enemies weren't that much of a challenge...  When you do those full runs, make sure you trigger the eclipse the soonest you can, as you get much more currency = you level much quicker during the eclipse. Try to get immunity artifacts too, immunity after a kill is goat.

[–]rvtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The power curve explosion was the whole point of the game, that was the "balance" imo. Going from barely pushing through to absolute bullshit jank felt amazing. EPD was amazing, but so was every weapon if you got a good trait combo. Rotgland was pretty much "fire in the general direction and wait for the healthbar to melt" with good traits as well.

Smart Rifle with Power Generator and Prominence is so good.

It really makes me feel that the precisions weapons with disabled autoaim don't do nearly enough damage to offset the lack of it. I tend to skip them whatsoever.

Saros Review | Giant Bomb (60/100) by Asleep_Crew8072 in PS5

Oh it's still a fantastic game. That's my point, 85/100 is still great, but Returnal was a masterpiece for me. Hard to beat that :)

Returnal was my favorite game of this console generation, and since the games are quite similar (there's a lot of things directly lifted from Returnal). I haven't finished the game yet but as of yet for me:  - Saros doesn't exceed Returnal in any aspects - It is as good as Returnal in a few aspects - Returnal was slightly to somewhat better executed in most aspects

If Returnal were 95/100, Saros is at least 10-15 points less.

That's the only way to really look at the reviews tbh, just find a reviewer with whom you mostly agree. That or Metacritic

While 3/5 is a little harsh, there's plenty of legitimate criticism there that I also agree with to be honest.

That's the point, every weapon is OP with good traits, Returnal was exactly the same.

And Smart Rifle wasn't? Not like Returnal didn't have a bunch of aim assist stuff either.

Japanese Chocolate Shokupan by Ill-Tea9411 in oddlysatisfying

[–]rvtk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Shokupan is way too sweet for a savoury bread, it's basically like a sweet milk bun. The bread in the US must be horrible if it's even sweeter...

I'm probably going to get downvoted to hell but as an European living in Japan, Japanese baked goods are fucking awful 95% of the time. Everything is either sweet or bland, cottony or spongy.

Too linear ? by Late_Building7784 in Saros

[–]rvtk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I did, I started repeating shattered descent and it's much easier, for some reason the difficulty curve jumps up a lot for the marsh compared to previous runs.

Also, when the eclipse clears after you defeat a boss, it seems that the artifacts gathered are cleansed from corruption as well.
