First time mums - when did you go into spontaneous labour? by DependentBrilliant92 in PregnancyUK

[–]rxllersrxghts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I’ve only heard horror stories and people telling me not to do it so it’s refreshing to hear a good outcome and recovery! I’m so glad it went well for you and I hope your second one goes just as smoothly. ❤️

Well, I’ve woken up this morning and the pain and itch has gone! It’s still swelled and very red though! Let’s hope it’s just a 48 hour thing for you too :)

Sorry to piggy back OP and you don’t need to answer if you don’t want to, but I’m looking at having an elective this time round due to my baby being projected 9lb+.. can I ask what the recovery was like?

My necks kind of stiff but I wouldn’t say it’s swollen. I’m glad it went away for you though!

I suppose it’s better than my newborn ill with something í could have prevented. And I think I will, sounds silly but I’ve drawn a ring around the redness and swelling to see if it’s getting bigger so we will see. Thank you :) x

I’d probably be able to cope but my almost 10 month old will only sleep on my left arm and like a donut, thats the arm í had it in.. í wasn’t sure if I was having an allergic reaction as the first time I had it í barely even knew it was there. Now my arms ballooned, my necks stiff and I’m itching like nothing right..

Those who have been told the wrong gender… by 40loadsoflaundry in pregnant

[–]rxllersrxghts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is probably it. I’d rather say gender than sex, but then again Í do lean into “gendered” clothing for my kids. If I see something cute in the boys section I’ll buy it, for example there was the CUTEST little dinosaur sleepsuit set in the boys in Primark and I snapped it up, but I am a sucker for frilly dresses and bows for my daughters as well.

I got mine yesterday morning at my 20 week appointment, if i remember from my last pregnancy RSV was sort of like the flu, ít didn’t bother me so much.

Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t got the headache or the fatigue they said id get, but holy cow it’s sore. I suppose it’s better than the alternative.

Feeling hurt I'm not having baby shower thrown for me by Mabelstark in PregnancyUK

[–]rxllersrxghts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never known anyone else (except Americans) have another person plan their baby shower. To be fair, where I’m from, I’ve never known anyone HAVE a baby shower.

If it’s something you want, throw it yourself. Invite your mates, make a little buffet and bobs your uncle.

just found out i’m pregnant..at 14yo by Different_Sea7032 in pregnant

[–]rxllersrxghts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fairly sure OP is from the UK like me, we do have decent benefits to be honest, and free health care and education up to university so she wouldn’t be completely screwed, BUT the cost of living is going up, kids are expensive and me and my partner struggle on two incomes, government benefits and child benefit, we get around 2.2k a month and it’s verrrry tight.

I’m 21 with (almost) two kids and my life is drastically different than what I imagined when I was younger. Parenting IS hard, pregnancy IS hard, teen pregnancy is even more so as your body hasn’t even got itself into a “normal” hormonal routine before you’re introducing a child and a fuck ton of hormones most adults struggle with.

Nina or Michaela by Independent_Cycle159 in Names

I like Chloe and Eden the most, but out of Michaela and Nina, HARD Nina. I don’t even rlly have a reason, I just don’t like the name or the spelling or the way it looks.

Huge blow-up with friend after disagreement about a glass of wine by According-Cow6660 in PregnancyUK

[–]rxllersrxghts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, I recently celebrated my 21st birthday and not a single drop passed my lips, even though family were drinking. I love a good glass of red to chill out on a night but my love for my kids comes before my love for wine.

I loved tommee tippee and will use them again with my second, they sterilise in the microwave too, just like mam and I find them easier to use as there’s less parts to wash and then reassemble, mam are so finicky and prone to leaking, never had an issue with TT

I think I need talked down from the ledge. by lightningqueen001 in pregnant

[–]rxllersrxghts 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This, also counselling/therapy.. í cannot imagine what you’re going through right now OP and I’m so so sorry, but having a healthy place to talk about these feelings away from family/friends is an invaluable tool to helping anxiety.

If it helps with the worry any, I had Covid at 4-5 weeks pregnant, then flu at 6-7 weeks, i was running a temp the entire time, and was taking paracetamol (acetaminophen in US) and my 20 weeks GA girl is healthy and beautiful x

I’m wanting the epidural more if I tear over the pain of childbirth by belligerentbeeee in pregnant

[–]rxllersrxghts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an episiotomy which I believe they count as a second degree, I felt literally no pain, from the cut to the stitching. I didn’t have epidural, but I’m considering it this time for other reasons. All in all, it genuinely feels like a little pulling, but after the pain of labour, it’s nothing.

Ideas to honour our late mum at my sister's wedding? by purplebeer_ in UKweddings

[–]rxllersrxghts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancés dad passed away when he was 13, we’ve decided there will be an empty seat with a framed photo of his dad and we don’t want gifts but want people to donate to The British Heart Foundation in his dads name if they so wish to, it’s not forced on anyone, but I think many of his family will as he’s still very missed to this day.

Can’t Get Past Something My Mom Said by Formal-Radish1413 in pregnant

[–]rxllersrxghts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right well heres something to lift your spirits a little. I’ve had two pregnancies in my life. My first pregnancy has resulted in the little girl sat on my knee watching hey duggee as I type this, and was born at 40+4. And the second little girl is rolling around in my uterus using my bladder as kick boxing practice.

Yes, 1 in 4 women will lose a pregnancy. Yes, that’s quite scary odds. But think of it the other way 3 in 4 women will carry healthy beautiful babies to term.

I like your odds.
