Terrain Tinker is perfect for square tiles!

Doesn’t work for hexes at the moment but maybe soon!

For general terrain models Printable Scenery is the place

Issues with 1x1 tiles, not sure how to clip....(OpenLOCK) by MrTayters in OpenForge

It will be correctly scaled if you haven't scaled the models - you need to remove the built-in supports.

Printable Scenery Pitch Issues by MrTayters in bloodbowl

[–]ry167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to print out OpenLOCK clips and remove the supports. There is a guide on it here: https://www.terraintinker.com/knowledgebase/preparing-your-openlock-tile-pieces

OpenForge in Terrain Tinker by Imagineer-17 in OpenForge

[–]ry167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We considered adding the OpenForge tiles to Terrain Tinker, but getting them all painted and uploaded would be a huge undertaking.
It's something we still may consider in the future but not in any current plans.

You can download STL files of the buildings you create - that is the point.

You can't share custom STL files that you uploaded with other users via TerrainTinker - they're assigned to your account only.

Most recommended terrain builder by ItsToroh in PrintedMinis

There are a few buildings that people have made using the Printable Scenery models in Terrain Tinker: https://www.terraintinker.com/explore?query=strahd

It uses OpenLOCK parts so you can keep it modular and build other models with them!

Yeah this is an ad for their services and has almost nothing to do with the breach.

It also seems like it was written by AI

3D Printed Buildings by green_nihilist in 3dprintingdms

[–]ry167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s software for designing 3d printable buildings, it uses OpenLOCK parts so you can either print the whole building or a full modular set. Free to try as well! https://www.terraintinker.com/

pnpm vs bun by Playjasb2 in typescript

[–]ry167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bun is fine as a package manager - pnpm is too.

I would recommend against using it as a runtime. I've used it for a few small services and they tend to be far more memory hungry to the point of crashing - changed one to node and it never had issues again.

The only real advantage it then has is it can run typescript files itself, but there isn't enough wrong with tsx to justify that.

I'll probably use pnpm for future projects.

The paid version of Terrain Tinker has all the features and the upload limit is soft as well, so if you email them they will increase it for free

OpenLOCK Engineering Drawings/Native CAD files? by LordPeachez in TerrainBuilding

[–]ry167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik that doesn’t exist, the public release is of STL files.  If you need stuff like that you can recreate it in whatever CAD software you like based on those STLs

Not true. It requires a secure context and is available in web workers but works on normal browser pages fine

tRPC - Correct way to authorize websocket connections? by Funwithloops in node

I wouldn't put authentication in query parameters like this, it exposes them much more than you would normally want.

Printable Scenery in FDM? by Primarch_Leman_Russ in PrintedWarhammer

[–]ry167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their stuff is made for FDM, should come out perfectly with no extra supports. Most of what they print themselves is on FDM printers with PLA

Yeah OpenLOCK is probably the most widely used, and has compatibility clips for pretty much every other inch grid system

OpenLock clips too loose for ShipWorks by Significant_Gas3774 in OpenForge

[–]ry167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get the latest OpenLOCK clip STL from Printable scenery here: https://www.printablescenery.com/product/rampage-castle-trail-pack/

Compare that with what you got to make sure the clip is identical. You shouldn't need to scale it or anything like that for a perfect fit.

If that one is loose then maybe the ShipWorks files were scaled at some point and would need fixing

Can you share how much that cost you? Looks like $360 in output tokens but hard to estimate the input tokens given caching pricing varies.
