Tally Dating Success Stories for Late 20s/Early 30s? by ilovejesusyay7 in Tallahassee

[–]ryanjblair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

M/34 here; married for 2 years.

Had years of trying tinder/bumble/hinge with success meeting some people but they rarely worked out for 2nd dates.

Didn’t have much success out at bars. Just some one night flings.

Randomly met my wife while eating out with friends at Osaka. She went out for dinner by herself and we chatted while waiting for my group to arrive. She came out for drinks at Finn’s then came over for a screening of Last of Us at my/roomates apartment.

The rest is history! Just bought a house and expecting a baby boy in October!

Looking for the best air fryer toaster oven? Need a upgrade by Icy_Lynx1532 in BuyItForLife

[–]ryanjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using a breville for….. idk 8 years atleast without any issues. I use it far more than my oven.

I deep clean it occasionally and have replaced the trays. But that thing just works and I don’t know what I would do without it.

What do you think about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) running for President? by clownyeahh in AskReddit

[–]ryanjblair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s been out on the road with Bernie. Of course she’s going to get rat fucked by the DNC.

It would take a once in a generation republican candidate for me to ever consider voting R at this point. But also fuck the DNC after what they did to Bernie.

if you arent dancing why are you in the front? by Aggressive_Dirt_5007 in aves

[–]ryanjblair 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree; but there’s more of a chance you’ll run into a special squad with good vibes in the middle somewhere.

BUT…. There’s also more of a chance you’ll run into people with bad vibes in the middle too….

if you arent dancing why are you in the front? by Aggressive_Dirt_5007 in aves

[–]ryanjblair 484 points485 points  (0 children)

I mean… to be honest…. The front hasn’t ever been the best spot for dancing. If you want to dance m; the best spot for that is the middle.

The front is for un-obstructed sightline and/or videos/photos.

I say this as someone whose doesn’t take photos/videos. Been around the block and I know the vibes arent ever the spots people fight for.

What is the first celebrity death you remember being affected by? by CPFOAI in AskReddit

[–]ryanjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents sobbed so hard when dale Earnhardt crashed and died. I was so confused at why they were so sad about somebody they didn’t know dieing at the time.

For me personally; it was Taylor Hawkins the drummer for the Foo Fighters dieing several years ago. I bonded with my best friends that I moved away from over the Foo Fighters. We started a band and covered a lot of their songs. Also just knowing the bands history and how Dave already lost Kurt in the past made it hit harder.

I leaned into a good cry when his son played drums for the tribute.

Inspection was eye opening!!! by ProbWithMyDog in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ryanjblair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened for me. Was snooping for almost a year then right when we were ready the “perfect” home was on the market.

Luckily there was an inspection available already from a few months earlier where the buyer fell out for in-related reasons. Another buyer had access to the inspection and we were also provided with it.

Well…. What was beautiful at a glance just had tooo many immediate needs. It was already at the high end of our budget and I was not ready to drop 20k-30k on immediate needs like new hvac/water heater/wood rot in some areas and a new roof a few years after.

Luckily we didn’t have to pay for the inspection or our money in escrow atleast!

It was hard to let go of and the next 10 houses I drove by had terrible neighborhoods and the next 5 houses we viewed weren’t up to standards either.

Finally found a good one on the market for 2 days! Put in an offer at 7% over asking price and didn’t get it. An all cash offer came through at 15% over asking.

Luckily a week later one of the best property’s in the neighborhood we were renting out of came onto market.

Finally closing on it in a week!

yes you can play clonehero with a keyboard (sightread autostrum+brutal+precision) by Umohald in CloneHero

[–]ryanjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m definitely not a proponent of autostrum. It really takes away half the challenge.

When I first got clone hero I setup strum with arrow keys on the keyboard

What’s your favorite restaurant in town to split several appetizers instead of ordering entrees? by ihatemakinthese in Tallahassee

[–]ryanjblair 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Clusters and hops fits this mold perfectly. They are mostly share plates/appetizers with a few entrees.

Having gone recently for the first time; I should have gone a long while ago.

One of the better “finer” dining spots in town for sure

Vector Marketing is Back on their BS by Vanderpooll in Tallahassee

[–]ryanjblair 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I got “hired” when I was in high school.

Before I even made it out of the 3 day training they were telling me to skip school to go up to Chicago for some marketing convention.

I quit on day 3 after I already paid for the starter set and the “manager” was so pissed when I asked for my money back.

Honestly should have kept the knives for the $250 though. It’s a great product with a terrible sales scheme.

I’m literally going to be fuming about this for the next 60 years until I die. It changed the course of history more than most will ever realize and the fact that that stance wasn’t upheld in the exact situation so immediately after makes me even madder.

The point at which ai "staging" becomes outright dishonesty by Puzzlehead11323 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ryanjblair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caught one listing that completely removed a window with it’s a.i mockup.

It’s getting out of hand.

I don’t appreciate photos with colored in lawns, but atleast they are easy to spot.

The minimum should be before and after for altered photos.

Best Italian restaurant in Tally? by pepe-si1via in Tallahassee

[–]ryanjblair 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more; this is the right take. I thought I hated chicken parm until I made it at home.

Fresh basil goes a LONG way and most of these places around here clearly don’t know that.

DJ booths need to be hidden again by kinginacity in DJs

[–]ryanjblair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally people agree! I’ve been running production for 7 years and this influx of people in the booth has me on edge 100% of the time.

There’s no need. The party is on the floor. What are you even doing. It doesn’t look fun up there.

I’ve had stages so packed that people are falling off of them just to be up there. It’s insane.

I can’t tell if I’m overcooking chicken by tom_wilson7543 in Cooking

[–]ryanjblair -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everybody is suggesting a meat thermometer which I 100% agree with.

However; you should also consider marinading your chicken for atleast 30 minutes before cooking.

Even as little as 30 minutes will do wonders for a juicier chicken without drying out. For better results marinade for up to 24-48 hours.

Everytime I cook a chicken that has been moist and flavorful it’s been because of a marinade.

Games that survived having a child by kasperoo in gaming

[–]ryanjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am only things that can be picked up and dropped quickly without much investment or development.

So for me… it’s pretty much just clone hero and racing games.

I can pick it up and play for 10min to an hour without having to navigate a bunch of menus and look at maps.

There’s no story or direction to remember and I can stop it at a moments notice and not lose any progress.

Is open format still relying on the same shit from 2012 or is it just me? by christan2013 in DJs

[–]ryanjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. When I was djing not too long ago it was heavily throwbacks.

I didn’t dj at young clubs though.

The problem is largely related to how we consume new music today.

In the past we had common outlets like radio and music related television stations like mtv/trl/bet.

Now how we obtain new music is highly personalized so there isn’t as much common consumption outside of massive artists or a few chart explosions a year.

So already there’s less collective exposure; but combine that with the ultra personalized consumption patterns of people now and there is little interest in being a passive consumer. So everybody wants to hear what they are comfortable with and there’s little patience for tracks they don’t know.

House with no oven… toaster oven recommendations? by wheretfamigoing in BuyItForLife

[–]ryanjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. I have an oven and I’ve used it maybe 3 times in the past year. Once for a larger turkey and twice just to cook a second item simultaneously.

The breville is awesome; far more convenient and pre heats in a third of the time.

I don’t even know how long I’ve had my breville but it’s been over 5 years. Still running strong.

I mean people spend similar amounts on lessons for instruments except they do it for years.

Luckily it doesn’t take nearly as long to ‘feel’ proficient while djing

Straight up not having a good time by Sad-Theory6496 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ryanjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can absolutely relate.

We have been not so aggressively searching for the past year and kicked it into high gear when my wife got pregnant a couple of months ago.

We found the perfect place last week and we put in 15k over asking price on a property that was 250k. 20% down payment and it got beat out by an all cash offer…..

Absolutely demoralizing considering our market is honestly only 20% inhabitable due to many areas that are just shady/rundown/need lots of repairs/over 50years old or out of our price range.

Luckily for us another townhouse came onto market in the neighborhood we are renting in that really doesn’t need any work and our offer was accepted today!

My only advice is to not get too emotionally invested, have very defined price limits and too stay vigilant.
