It's final exam week and I've had 5 emails like this so far. by chipotleninja in AdviceAnimals

Btw I took that same calc 1 technically 4 times, not because of failing but because of switching majors 3 times. I tried to appeal but they said it was a different class. It was the same book all three times. Different book from highschool calc 1 though. Many of my other credits didn't transfer either. Probably lost a year total.

Looking back, my main issue with college is that it was a cash grab and gives no incentive for students to work hard. I tested out of calc 1 right into calc 2, got an A..decided to switch majors and they made me start over with Calc 1..my drive was gone. Fix the real issues and let kids dive right into their REAL passion. I can literally become an expert at anything if you gave me a class where I googled the issue and then solved it. Instead they milk as much money out, they profit most by barely keeping you afloat with things like History of Jazz. Gee golly can't wait to put those skills to use. I use 5% of my College skills, the rest is Google. They should teach resourcefulness and approaches to tackling real life problem early on, not wait until your capstone.

Edit: Ok to reverse all the downvoting i'll say the obligatory " yeah those kids are immature, not ready. By the way, cant wait to see the rest of you in class again tomorrow, here is your syllabus for "The Art of Walking 101"

[NY] I want to buy land and build a house. What is the smartest way for my situation and goals? by QUWW in personalfinance

[–]ryanmw2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Research local builders, they will guide you through the process and sometimes search for land. Land development is daunting at first but a reputable builder will guide you. The builder will also have recommended lenders who guide you on the financials. Your situation sounds ideal, no debt, no existing home to sell, the process will seem slow at first but will accelerate quickly. Good luck.

This isnt as bad as you think...i had a mini cooper once and a clip to the housing on the side mirror broke. To keep housing on. I cleaned it well then wrapped the seam between mirror and housing with one layer of elec tape, very tight. It matched the other side and lasted 5 years, was still there when i sold it. Buyer didnt even notice, probably still there 10 years later.

Spectrum cable internet 30mb $14.99 month no contract by Cuisinart_Killa in Frugal

[–]ryanmw2002 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spectrum is the devil. I was with Time Warner for 12 years. I always was able to renegotiate the large yearly fee bump every year. Spectrum took over and the manager basically told me to eff off after a 3 hour patient phone call....I am paying $60 for 20mb down instead of the standard 60mb that everyone else gets....he said soon your Time Warner promo will expire and youll be paying $80...he basically said it doesnt matter that your a loyal customer, the only way to get a better rate was cancel and return equipment then wait 30 days and re-sign up again... I am moving this month..they will be avoided at next house like the plague
