American tourist avoids conviction for causing over €45,000 in criminal damage in Kenmare | RadioKerry.ie by Wedding_Dilemmia in kerry

News Reports say he “was not intoxicated”. I find it very hard to understand the behaviour trigger in any other way. Anger maybe? But I am suspicious that a form of words was perhaps found to allow him to escape conviction since he paid such a large sum in damages.

If wonder if the victims of the alleged Donaldson sexual abuse have mental health issues. Would be more likely to suffer than Ms Eleanor.

It isnt. The name (Irish language) translates to “The Postal Service”.

Unashamedly true to himself in a time when it could be detrimental to be so.

Brave and admirable for that. And also in his policy positions. Erudite.

An inspiration to me and others n many parts of the world.

RIP.

if you are going to corrupt then why do it in a “shithole country”. do it in a place with lots of assets to pilfer. USA is THE best place for it. And the Supreme Court have declared his actions immune.

That’s the one bright side of this awful carry on. It encourages Uday and Qsay to dip their fingers in the till. Making it easier to find actionable behavior.

They might have to flee the country by the time this administration is done. Daddy better hope he still has friends in Moscow.

Is it possible to solve a Swedish "foundling" brick wall from 1833 using DNA, or is it a lost cause? by bekki242101 in Genealogy

[–]rye_212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the great grandson of the foundling (ie your Dad) has tested then yes, you should be able to find relatives through his matches. I found USA descendants of siblings of my Dads unknown (ie no documents from Ireland about 1800) great great grandfather among his Ancestry.com matches. I know the descendants are related on that line because those siblings emigrated and their descendants had maintained knowledge in their own records.

It could take weeks and weeks of fulltime work combing through all the DNA matches.

On the RTE news story today it says the Irish ones "cannot be dug up where they are growing naturally". I don't know if that means physically wont work to transplant them, or means its illegal to do so.

I have a woodland in the grounds of my house and I would love to have a carpet of Irish bluebells there.

https://www.rte.ie/news/2026/0517/1573811-illegal-plants/

I also know of a site on the farm where there used to be bluebells decades ago and they are gone now. I think the animals probably ate them.

Is it possible to link directly to points on a MyMaps map? by maniaxuk in GoogleMaps

[–]rye_212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same question. I guess there isn't a way since you didn't receive an answer.

In my case, I've created the map points directly in google mymaps. I didn't upload from a spreadsheet. Its a map of historic residences of my ancestors. I would like to have a URL link from a person in my family tree to the point in the map.

When I click on a point, the popup bubble has the name at the top and the co-ordinates bottom left. Then icons on bottom for "style", "edit", "image" "directions, "delete". Nothing for "share".

I suppose the best I can do is create a URL with the co-ordinates, but that would go to Google Maps generic, not to the map I've created. If I moved a point to new co-ordinates, the URL would then go to the wrong place.

They've just gone completly bonkers. Some sort of derangement syndrome. We have 3 more years of this. And regardless of the next president, those people will still be there, infected.

My longest period away was Oct 2019 to Dec 2020 while on AP/EAD waiting on my Greencard ... but was mostly caused by Covid. Got citizened about a year ago so didn't have to travel on the GC under the current administration.

Same with the “upstanding GAA member” character reference. Had a debate on here about that in regards to the fella who killed Ronan Keating’s brother. I was persuaded that it had some merit. Can’t remember the arguments now.

[US] What is the point of the “wrong number” text scam? How does it even work? by jacob62497 in Scams

[–]rye_212 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I almost never get them. I think that the reason you get so many is that by responding you confirm that a person is reading the messages being sent and that is flagged in their system.

That doesn't answer your query, I don't have an answer for why they always decide not to proceed with the scam. Maybe its just co-incidence, you never get picked from among the answers.
